Land Rover Series 1 - 80" - 1953

Barn find - Land Rover Series 1 80”
This Land-Rover is one of the last year of the 80” wheelbase model - it is 1953 year model Series 1 - chassis number 366612** with original 2 Litre Engine number 36107041 (turns feely but not had it running) and 52 stamped radiator - if you know your Land-Rovers you will know that these are correct numbers for year and shows a remarkable originality of this vehicle.

Description
The vehicle is in excellent unrestored order with remarkably straight body panels and a very sound chassis and bulkhead.  Almost everything required to get it up and running is with the vehicle  Please Note: Although the dynamo has been removed one will be included in this sale. Lower door halves are also included (These are also original but not certain that they are from the same vehicle as they are still in a much more of a Deep Bronze Green colour, but that could be due to having been stored undercover for years instead of out and about on the vehicle).
The Chassis still displays much of its original green paint and has not had any weld repairs.  It has no deep corrosion or damage (other than a couple of the usual dinks on cross members - but nothing major). Rear cross member is original, albeit having lost much of its paint due to exposure to the elements but is sound and shows only light surface rust.
The Bulkhead is 90% perfect, other than minor impact damage to RHS door pillar (see picture) –  repair would be very straightforward.
Alternatively, I have another 80” bulkhead in near perfect condition which could be available by separate negotiation should purchaser wish.

History
This vehicle was supplied direct from Land-Rover to their agent in NSW and sold to Gardner Callmin (?) Ltd on 25th May 1953 –  A copy of Grenville’s handwritten ledger record of that sale can be made available on request, showing chassis and engine number as present today. It came back to UK in 2015 and is for sale now to help to cover costs of bringing another Land Rover (1949 80")  back to good order.

N.B.
There is no V5C with the vehicle but it is VAT paid and NOVA was declared at import.  I have not applied for an age related plate but Land Rover Series One Club are very helpful in securing issue if purchaser should wish to have one when the vehicle is ready to use.

Summary
This is not the normal rotten and corroded basket case dragged out of a hedgebottom ....  The condition of this vehicle is such that it will require more of a sympathetic re-commissioning rather than full restoration. Although it is not roadworthy at present and will need work on steering, brakes, electrics etc. to bring it up to scratch, it is an excellent opportunity to acquire a true British classic vehicle that will be an appreciating asset and give years of enjoyment along the way.

Land Rover Series 3 88" 4x4

Professionally re-sprayed last year, keeping its origional colours of Bronze green and limestone. Receipt included. Showing 20'100 miles, I have history back to 2001 showing 9'220 miles and mot's going back to 2003 showing10'034 miles. I dont have anything for its first 19 years. It could be 20'000 it could be 120'000 I dont know. Drives nicely, no wondering around the road. Starts first time. 4 speed gearbox with fairey overdrive. Drops a little oil, lets a bit of water in when standing but what landy doesn't. Passed it's MOT with no advisories. It will drive forever at 60mph without missing a beat. Heater works and front flaps open. 4 wheel drive works fine. If your able to use a spanner, I've bought a full set of engine gaskets which i've not had the time to replace. They will come with the car. Canves spare wheel cover and canves rear seat covers by Exmoor Trim. External sun visor painted in limestone. I also have a brand new cubby box which I have not fitted but comes with the car. Its a lovely car which everyone admires and wants to stop and talk about. I'm away from 10th to 13th but car can be viewed anyday after that.

Land Rover Series 2a LPG 1968G

My Series 2a, reluctant sale but need some cash to replace my daily car. (Its not a Jeep and its not a Truck, its a Land Rover) :) 1968 historic vehicle, 3.5 V8 engine with LPG conversion, filler on nearside as photo, 80litre tank. NO ROAD TAX!! (my insurance fully comp with Carol Nash £150) Front end is newer style due apparently an MOD conversion, room for engine and rad etc. Runs well on both Petrol and gas... apart from new plugs, leads and coil i never touched the timing or mixture... if it runs well don't mess. It is pictured with 5x road wheels and tires which consist of 3x Good year wranglers and 2x Pirelli scorpion S/T. Also will come with 5x off road/winter wheels and tires 4x Insa Turbos and 1x Pirelli scorpion Mud for a spare. The off road tires are bigger and will give more ground clearance. Rear is boxed to cover LPG tank with access lid and storage. Fitted with overdrive. Chassis is Solid. I have had the rear tub chequer plated for cosmetic, tub is in good nic. Has an internal roll cage welded to chassis with 2x extra cross members for support. Towbar with detachable drop plate. High Lift Jack, essential if you ever have a flat tyre.

Land Rover Series 3 109 Pick Up Tax Exempt

Coil sprung Series 3 109 Land Rover pick-up project. Tax Exempt. Fitted with Perkins 4.236 (3.9) Milner Conversion engine. LT95 gearbox. Permanent four wheel drive. Galvanised bulkhead. This is a custom-made galvanised coil sprung chassis (not cobbled together 110). Vehicle is running and engages gears but needs finishing. To Be Completed Engine install needs completing Wiring needs attention Interior needs tidying (transmission tunnel) Back body needs attention Bonnet frame is a bit frilly Door bottoms good but door tops need replacing Please note; you will not be driving this vehicle home. It is a project and requires a lot of work. Reason for sale is that I have other projects and do not have time to give this Land Rover the attention it needs. This is a good sound project. Will need collecting on a trailer. It would definitely be prudent to view this vehicle before buying.

Land Rover Series 3 Ex Military , SWB , 88 , Diesel , Tax Exempt , £1195 ono

Land Rover Series 3, Ex Military civilian spec , originally bronze green , 1975 making it now tax exempt, SWB 88 , hard top , 2.25 Diesel. This Land rover started its life in military service in 1975, its military Reg is 18GF02 which donates military service 1974/75 Army and was demobbed in 1984. Originally it would have been a 2.25 petrol but at some time this has been replaced by a Land Rover 2.25 diesel. As you can see from the pictures its a restoration project, the chassis is not bad, good rear x member and front legs, the out riggers will need replacing and there are patches required under the rear chassis rails, the bulk head needs repairs to the usual places, top corners, vent flaps and foot wells. Body work is quite good and its fairly straight, it does need door tops and of course there is 20 layers of flaking paint. It has at some stage had something bolted to the roof as there are 4 holes in each side (that will require blanking plugs) and an unusual alteration to the o/s roof just behind the drivers door. The interior is not good, something has chewed the dash and the seat cushions are missing, however there are a pair of non standard seats supplied. Those of you with a keen eye would of spotted that the gearbox is in the rear, this was removed by the previous owner as a half hearted attempted to start the restoration, the seat box and the internal panels are not bolted in and are loosely placed together, there is a rebuild plate stuck on top of the transfer box, this may be a military rebuild but i am unsure. The engine turns freely by hand but i have not attempted to start it my self, the previous owner informed me that it was a running driving vehicle before he took it off the road to restore, the brakes and electrics are also untested. It has free wheeling hubs fitted and wider LWB rims.
