For sale through AB4x4s Cleveland is a most superb 1956 series 1 that has just benefited from a full professional respray in its original colour.

The entire vehicle has been through a restoration in the recent past and completely defies its age!

Such a vehicle is quite rare being a genuine factory station wagon with safari roof.

Bulkhead is solid and the chassis is one of the best I have ever seen.

Some of its recent parts include new water pump, new seats and the original carb was refurbished.

In short she runs very nicely indeed and maintains her original registration no of WUB 363.

Tax and MOT exempt. Mostly orginal unmolested spec. Only 4 owners from new, 1st - 36yrs, 2nd - 17yrs, 3rd - 6months (trade), 4th myself.


Sellers Comments

Mod cons: Overdrive, F.W.H and radio.  Still with its orginal features positive earth, Dynamo, crash gearbox (fill from the top and no jumping out of gears).  All work as they should.  Solid chassis has had a few patches in its time.  New rear crossmember and new footwells.  Pretty much straight body panels with all rivets showing.  Two sets of wheels (check photos) 4 x Wolfsteel (with Goodyear G90 tyres), 4 x Greensteel (with good tyres).  Two new inward facing rear seats, 2 x under seat storage.  A box full of history and receipts including a 17yr notebook from 2nd owner.

Altogether a nice Landrover Series 2, by no means perfect, a coat of paint and a new canvas and this would look mint in my opinion, but looks  great as is.

1967 Landrover Series 2a

This vehicle is a great example of a Series 2a, and an ideal base for a light restoration project. It hasn't been messed about with, modified or altered in any way, and remains 99% complete, making for an easy restoration. Some of the panels have had some paint over the years, but as i found out yesterday, it comes off very easily with a jet wash revealing the original paintwork, which actually looks in surprisingly good condition !

The chassis and bulkhead have really stood the test of time, and are in really good condition (see pics). The top corners, hinge areas & vents on the bulkhead are as solid as they come. The footwells are also in great condition, only requiring a small amount of welding in 2 x corners (see pics).

The chassis is in remarkable condition, and doesn't look like its had much done to it either. It does look like its had a rear cross member, and an outrigger, but apart from that it looks original. It certainly isn't the usual patch work quilt. I have included some pics, that give you a general idea of the overall condition of the chassis. I should imagine on closer inspection that there will be a few patches required, but there certainly won't be any major repairs to worry about.

The original engine and gearbox were working fine when it was parked up, but the previous owner had played with the idea of fitting a Tdi engine, and had started to remove hoses, etc, so is now no longer running. It is all still in situ, so reconnecting it all shouldn't be any major task.

The bodywork is very straight, considering how old this vehicle is, suggesting that it has probably had an easier life than most Landrovers of this age. Doors are in good condition, including the rear door and tail gate.

Interior………. There isn't much to talk of really ! The front seats need replacing. The rear has bench seats that are still in the original elephant hide covering. The dash and clocks are all original, and all look in good order.

Original axles, engine, gearbox, dash, steering wheel, body panels (excluding door tops), grill etc, etc.

Registered 1985 with V5 in my name. Only selling due to ill health
Bodywork in good condition but has various dents and layers of flakey paint.
Bulk head in excellent cond. only tiny rust holes in foot wells.
Engine in good cond. turns over freely but needs carb clean and new starter solenoid.
Havent bothered to get it running as I planned to put my 200tdi eng. and box in it.
Rear cross member is only bad area but I have included a brand new replacement.
Rear part of chassis and outriggers will need repair. Easy job!
Needs new batteries. Most electrics work including heater!

Two tyres are as new G90's

This Series 3 109 inch based vehicle was custom built and supplied as an ambulance from new. The original 2.3 Petrol 4 Cyl engine starts on the button, runs smoothly and quietly and is not leaking or burning oil. “No MOT. She's been sat a while and typical Landy the clutch is stuck, she will drive starting in gear. Engine runs lumpy and wants to stall when cold. No battery but can borrow one for starting and trailering away. Bit of wiring to finish. Front tyres cracked but hold air. She's nearly 50 and a Landrover, panels are not mint but are ok.
