Sellers Comments 1970 series 2a land rover tax emept and motd until next December it's fitted with a completely re conditioned 200tdi. With every part been replaced including new turbo and all ancillaries. Last summer It was fitted with a reconditioned gearbox in 2014 has a fairey over drive fairey free wheeling hubs and new Conway 7.50 tyres matching spair in the boot but can go on the bonnet Meaning it will cruise at a more modern speed the interior has three delux leather seats in front with two benches in the rear adjustable tow bar The whole chassis was rubbed down and undersealed (properly) last summer. Pictures of the underneath on a ramp can be sent on request. Folder full of receipts It does have a few bits that need looking at mainly the wipers. I fitted a new motor recently but turns out it's a break in the power cable from the stalk so a new wire needs running. Inside the rear is still it's original blue but paint is supplied to do this. It has been hand painted in the past but no dents where filled luckily. Characturfull Will come with all sorts of spairs and new parts

Landrover series 2a

This is a 1970 Land Rover Series 2a SWB 225 cc petrol. It has just undergone a full nut and bolt rebuild. All parts have been refurbished or replaced with new top quality parts. It has been built on a new Richards chassis. Rebuilt engine, new pistons, etc. Reconditioned gearbox, reconditioned axles, new swivels, new brakes, new suspension, new steering. All body work has been sprayed individually before assembly. It has new doors and tops, also windscreen glass has been replaced. All re-galvanized capping. All new lights. It has a new Exmoor Trim soft top and new tyres. All seats and belts are new. Just been MOT'd. I am an established business rebuilding Series Land Rovers. WHAT THE HELL IS IT ??

These are a few of the more printable questions i've had regarding the old beasty since i bought her !

I know one thing is there's not another like her, someone has spent hour upon hour to create this individual Land Rover which wont suit everybody, (possibly nobody) but please make sure you have permission from your better half to park this on your driveway and scare the neighbours before bidding.

Ok, where do i start ?

It has an MOT until 3rd December 2016.

It is registered as a historic vehicle so no road tax to pay.

It is solid, no structural rust underneath, the chassis extension has been properly done some years ago to give it a 135" wheelbase.

It has been fitted with a 6 cylinder Rover engine, has free wheeling hubs and overdrive. I have not been brave enough to venture out onto the open road but the driveway at the farm and the field was enough to know its not for me due to the 'popeye' arms required to turn the wheel when wanting to park.

I believe the internal rear pick up bed used to tilt but not sure if it still can, the whole roof has also been built so it would slide back giving open top motoring for the whole family but again it would need looking at again before opening ! Hand painted at some point in battleship grey but chipped paint shows green below. Both front wings are damaged and need replacing/repairing see pictures.

The interior is a work of art but depends if you prefer Picasso or Hirst ?

Fully trimmed luxurious seats in the rear with central armrest and the matching front seats with tilting mechanism so as to access the rear seating but be aware that you need to be narrow in the hips to climb through. The whole dashboard and rollcage frame is also covered in the same material. Loads of thoughtful touches inside so please check out the pictures in detail.

It runs and drives and you will need a large turning area to fully appreciate the meaning of the words 'three point turn'. I've seen oil tankers turn quicker.

A couple of the tyres need replacing due to age/perishing so although it has an MOT until December these really need changing before a journey.

She measures just over 18'0" long from bumper to bumper and i dont like to think about her weight so make sure your recovery man knows what he is getting into regarding collection.

I acquired the Landy at the end of July last year intending to do some mud plugging but have never got to it and it has lain around little used. 

Previous owner owned for 10 years and the following is adapted from his description all of which I found to be correct.

A lot of work has been done to keep it in good order. All old V5's since new are present and a certified factory record for the vehicle.

Land Rover Series 2A 1970 Petrol TAX Exempt For Sale

My 1970 Series 2a is up for sale as I need a new roof and this is the third Land Rover in the house and the best one to me. First its a Series 2a TAX Exempt with a series 3 plastic grille and not the correct maltese cross mesh version. The bulkhead, the dash engine and gearbox are all off a series 3 with all these conversations were all done prior to me taking ownership. Since owning the 2a I have had the five rims and external sun visor powder coated. The front disc brakes and cylinders were replaced by Dale Faulkner in Markyate (St Albans) who is the regular mechanic on the 2a. For its age the ride is bouncy and requires strength to drive as its pretty much a tractor with a cab on it and not for the faint hearted. If you have driven one before then you will have been bitten by the bug. The gearbox and diff all have that excellent noise a 45 year old land rover would make and the "standard" jumping out of third now and then when hitting a bump but is handled by always keeping your hand on the lever when driving.

Tax Exempt Landrover - Location Hayes - 1970

Here we a have a series 2a tax exempt ( Historic vehicle) This vehicle has been off the road for a couple of years (I am now the proud owner of a 2 year old boy!!!!) I do  not have the time to sort it out. The engine turns over but does not start all the electrics work and the wheels turn and gearbox seems to still work the brakes seem to work as well. The bulkhead and chassis are in good condition for the age. There have been some repairs. I took the roof off and it is not bolted back on. It will need to be towed or trailered  away.  This is a 40 year old car that has been standing for a couple of years so dont expect a prime car. Please view before you commit to buy. Land Rover Series 2a, 88", 3.0 V6 - Overdrive, New Canvas 1970 - Roll Cage.

It has a Ford Essex 3.0 V6 engine inside which has been serviced regularly and also has a new (last year) K&N air filter on it. The alternator, water pump, fuel pump & rocker cover gaskets on it are 2 years old. Fuel hoses are 1 year old. It starts and drives well and has a switch under bonnet for extra security.
