Landrover Series 3 Safari - Galvanised Chassis

I am selling my series 3 safari landrover. I took this as payment for a job because it has a galvanised chassis which I was going to use on another landrover, but I decided it was too nice to break up so intended on restoration but now I've decided to sell as I don't have the time.

It is a 1979 88" 2.25 diesel model. It has a galvanised chassis, fairey overdrive, 7 seats, full roof rack, bodywork in good overall condition, log book with only 4 previous owners. The odometer reads 57000 miles which I believe could be fairly genuine.

The bad bits are that the bulkhead is pretty shot, also the insulation in the body has rotted some other steel body parts. I have no keys but the engine does run if 'hot wired', runs sweetly actually, when it was delivered I drove it round the yard but it hasn't moved or started since. 

As I said I don't know too much about it but any questions please ask, inspection welcome and recommended before bidding. Collection only be I may be able to deliver fairly locally at cost, please ask before bidding.

Sellers Comments A rare opportunity to own a genuine Land Rover 1976 88" Safari. This Land Rover is full of character. Purchased over 11 years ago as part of a package deal it hasn't done anything since although, with a booster pack it fires into life and trundles along just fine. A genuine vehicle which has been unmolested over the years with only a few mods to the dash to incorporate radio and some electric upgrades. A valuable base for a project vehicle for restoration. The pictures tell all. Expected grazes here and there but all intact, no major damage and drove 2 miles to its current location last weekend. If you are looking for a project then this is a peach. Sellers Comments Landrover series 3, swb 88 petrol station wagon / safari I bought this a few months ago with the intentions of doing it up, but it has sat in my garden pretty much since I got it. My work schedule this year Is so busy it looking unlikely I'm going to get chance to do it. So it's with great regret that I'm going to sell it. When I first got it I had it running and sounded spot on, but I robbed the coil for another project and when I replaced it I put the condenser wire on the wrong side and burnt it out, so this will need replacing before it can be driven. This is a nice original series 3 station wagon that will be great for someone with a little tlc. The chassis will need work on the back crossmember and n/s spring hanger, also the o/s front horn will need a bit of repair, I have got a new section that I will include . The bulk head looks to be good with only a little bit of surface rust on the lower inner post . I have got a log book

Sellers Comments Here we have for sale a legendary 4X4 LAND ROVER SERIES 3 LOOK AT THE PHOTOS! HARD TO BELIEVE IT'S 34 YEARS OLD OFF ROADER ... DEALS UP OR DOWN WELCOME - only classic vehicles, big engine cars etc NOTHING STANDARD PLEASE !!! Silly bids or emails will be ignored, sorry but far to many recently... First reasonable offer gets it. Very well maintained over the years, plenty invoices going back to 1998! All invoices either from Land Rover, John Craddock 4X4 specialist, Famous Four 4X4 specialists etc... 3 recent bills from 2016, we also upgraded it a bit, fitted a brand new water pump as old one was tired. Massive work has been undertaken to bring it up to the former glory in 2013, again by Famous Four, the cost of parts and labour - £3064.32 ! Don't get me wrong, it's still noisy, bauncy, heavy, old but at the same time well cared for, lovely and truly one off. Sellers Comments - Bought as project, due to new work commitments I sadly have no time, it is a rare 2.6 model which is what attracted me to it, engine is free but hasn't been started for a while now, from what I can see chassis is pretty sound except rear section needs some attention, Only has a drivers seat (non original) so interior also needed Will need trailer as currently not running.

Land Rover Series 3 Safari Edition

Sellers Comments - Offered for sale is my Land Rover Series III. It has been a great companion this summer but sadly I do not have both the time to give it the attention it should have, or winter parking for it. I would much rather it be used by someone who can give it the time and appreciation it deserves. It is rather special as it features a full safari roof rack with safari vents underneath and a ladder to get up onto the top. It also has windows in the back, which means is gives great vision when driving, and if anyone wanted to put seats into the back it would give a better view to the passengers. I have also fitted a custom made cubby-box in between the front seats, which is very useful to keep bits and bobs that would normally roll around the dashboard! The middle seat in included in the sale however, just in case you prefer it with three seats in the front. Whilst I have owned it, I have fitted a new battery (with a 3 year guarantee), upgraded the headlights to halogen, fitted a new rear view mirror, a new windscreen washer motor. The Land Rover also benefits from a Fairey overdrive to give you a bit of a boost, and free wheeling hubs on the front axle. It has been oiled and greased every week by myself, with a full oil change every 6 months. The Land Rover also comes with a box of spares including seals and headlights, and a full folder of receipts and invoices. It is Tax exempt next year, which would save a great amount of money, and I insure it using Classic Car insurance which, even though I'm only 23, is a third of my 'modern' car insurance. It has MOT until March 2017 with NO advisories given on the previous inspection, and drives very well. I'm not going to claim it is the fastest thing in the world, but it gets you from A to B and you have an enormous amount of fun with it.

Sellers Comments - Auction for a lovely RARE old 1972 tax exempt Land Rover long wheel base Safari 5 door. Currently SORN with no MOT as it is an unfinished project, but not much left to do before it is ready for test. We have changed the engine to a 2.25 diesel that runs nicely, there is a new clutch and rebuilt gearbox, overdrive fitted, and freewheel hubs. Brakes have been overhauled with new cylinders and shoes. It still needs lights rewiring, exhaust fitting, tyres, and small weld repair to rear crossmember. Lots of spares included with this auction. NON RUNNER

Painted for a safari carnival float.

We removed the top and side windows which we still have (included in the sale). We painted it white then marked the zebra stripes and hand painted them. All done in metal paint so will last well.

It is a non runner but we were told it has been barn stored and was used regularly off road up until a couple of years ago. We have had the starter motor looked at, but I have not re-fitted it at present (included in the sale).

I have no log book for the vehicle but do have the reg plate.
