LAND ROVER DEFENDER 130 4X4 OVERLAND CAMPER, CUSTOM SOLID SIDED ELEVATING ROOF

Sellers Comments -
It’s a 2006 56 reg ( almost an 07) td5 Defender 130 3500kgs chassis

125,000 miles approx ( will go up slightly )

New mot until 12th June 2020 no advisories

Starts runs and drives superb, great on fuel! 2 keys 2 Fobs

Ex power company so has split charge system, Ramsey heavy duty electric winch, heated screen, heated seats, central locking, electric windows, CD player etc

Converted by us this year as a prototype to see what we could achieve with this new fused honeycomb composite panel

This stuff is amazing, extremely light, extremely strong and fully uv and water resistant.. the body is a brand new build, not some chopped about ex ambulance etc and is built entirely from this new type of panel, fully plastic welded and the capped with aluminium where necessary for enhanced looks and durability..

We’ve recently completed a 1000mile round trip to Bad Kissingen in Germany to the abenturer allrad show without fault, never skipped a beat, cruises comfortably at 70mph and is extremely good on fuel, thanks to the newly reconditioned transfer box from Ashcroft transmissions with the new 1:3 gear ratios in. It’s quiet, smooth and extremely capable both on and off road...

The vehicle was heavily restored prior to building the new body, including full rear section of the chassis cleaned and re-painted with upol raptor.. new brakes ( discs, callipers, pads, brake lines the lot ) rear differential overhauled by Ashcroft at the same time as the transfer box, new front swivels, all new oils, and filters, new wheels and tyres x5 with cooper discover stt pro tyres, new interior, new paint, etc etc

chassis never welded and doesn’t need to be, Doors are immaculate as are all body panels, it’s a very clean nice example, underside is almost as new

The vehicle has cost over £35,000 to get to this stage, with a one of a kind custom interior, which contains a large seating, dining area, inside walk in shower cubicle, portaloo type toilet, kitchen, and full king sized bed. Plus heaps of storage and the all important pass through to the drivers cabin.

The unique roof design allows full head height throughout the vehicle when elevate and a nice compact vehicle for traveling when closed, with the benefits of added security, and transportability as well, it’s been designed to fit inside a standard 20ft shipping container.

We’ve decided to sell it as we need to develop new products and work on existing ones, since this has been advertised we've received 4 new orders for this type of conversion, and are speaking to new customers daily about their over-landing requirements.

The door raises manually at current via a neat little hydraulic system, but can be modified to electric if required for an additional fee.

The vehicle does still need it’s hot water and heating system fitting and plumbing in, ( a new webasto diesel heater will be supplied with the vehicle, the spare wheel needs mounting, and the 12v split charge system needs wiring in, this can be done by us for an additional fee if required but just to be clear this work is not currently completed

Land Rover defender 110 overland expedition 4x4 camper

Sellers Comments -
welcome to the auction of my Land Rover 110 elevating roof camper

i built this unique land rover 6 years ago from the chassis up to use as my daily driver and expedition truck, everything was rebuilt, refurbished or upgraded and replaced where necessary , i am only selling as my circumstances have changed and i require a bigger vehicle with more seats.
this land rover has been very useful and reliable to me and an excellent truck for getting me off the beaten track on many adventures, it will be sadly missed.

it is based on a 1983 110 hi capacity pickup, mot until November 2019

camper body with elevating roof that has a single bunk up top and L shaped seating that converts to double bunk down below. sink with running water and fold down cooker with 2 gas rings and grille. each side is fitted with external locker doors, passenger side is water and gas storage and drivers side opens directly into camper. sunroofs are fitted into each side which can be opened partially or wind down and fully open. storage  is under seating area and also two storage boxes which act as supports when double bunk is folded down. the roof lifts up at the rear and locks into position with a bar either side, it is quite heavy as i made it strong enough to walk on but i can lift it on my own, i did intend to fit gas struts to make it easier but never got around to it.

engine is the excellent 300 tdi , runs great, a new head gasket was fitted 3 months ago and while off the head was inspected and overhauled. Fitted with silicon hoses and a full stainless steele exhaust with side exit ahead of p/s rear wheel.
chassis and bulkhead are in good condition
heavy duty steering arms and heavy duty suspension  with complete polyurethane bush kit
boost alloys with 30mm wheel spacers and bf goodridge all terain tyres
brake servo, master cylinder, pipes, shoes and drums all replaced a year ago

chequer plate bonnet, wings and side protection painted with upol raptor
champion superwinch with remote control fitted in front winch bumper
roof rack and cab mounted spotlights
cab is fitted with two half leather seats and center cubby box, front doors have recently been repaired with new lower frames fitted.

overall this land rover is in good condition, things to point out would be a rear shock absorber sleeve is broken but this does not effect its performance, headlights are working but the reflective background is beginning to discolour, door locks havent been used in a while and are stiff and require freeing off.

the Land Rover is located near perth in scotland, arrangements can be made for viewing, winning bidder could be collected from edingburgh airport

£100 non refundable deposit to be paid within 24hrs of auction end, remainder to be paid in cash or funds transfer

LAND ROVER DEFENDER 110 TD5 - SAHARA - EXPEDITION - CAMPER- READ FULL SPEC NEW ENGINE less than 20k miles ago

Sellers Comments -
The Land Rover and paperwork is with me, it is UK registered although LHD The V5C is signed awaiting new owner. Interested parties will be given his details should you wish to check my authority in organising the sale. Please contact me on 07565141000 if you need any more info. The following is his comprehensive description of the history and details of the vehicle. Please read for full spec. Please note a mph speedo was fitted when the owner registered it in the UK. The actual mileage is 137k, however it was fitted prior to engine change. The new engine has only done less than 20,000 miles and can be verified by receipts and MoT's which show the current mileage. This is not a toy and has even been to the Sahara. Thank you.

W923 VHN - A brief History.
This Defender was bought in May 2000 by a nurse living in Dortmund, who made a number of modifications to it and travelled extensively, including a trip down to Croatia. He fitted it out as a camper, adding the bed and storage boxes, the Eberspacher night heater and added lights and connections for a fridge in the rear of the vehicle. I'm uncertain of the year, but was told that the vehicle took part in one of the Love Parades in Berlin in the early 2000's decked out with a huge amp and speakers.
I bought the vehicle in 2008 and immediately took it for a biking and canoeing weekend in the Ardennes - for which it proved excellent. Since then I have taken part in the Sweden Off Road Tour, a trip to Poland driving around an old Soviet Military Training Ground, Off roading in North Wales and camping in the Sahara, where it performed flawlessly. The Hannibal roof rack with ladder and swing out rear awning provides sun/rain protection at a moments notice. When the vehicle is parked the tent side can be fitted to the awning to provide a fully enclosed space where you can cook/get changed/keep the fridge at night etc. There is a second awning fitted to the side of the vehicle giving a place to sit outside under cover. (see pics)

In 2011, the cylinder head failed, badly. Faced with the option of a reconditioned or brand new engine, I opted for the latter, very expensive option - better to do the job right first time than take a chance and run into problems later with an engine of unknown provenance. The cost was 7719 Euro's and the mileage then was 78,000. It has done less than 20,000 miles. Since then it has only been used for commuting and travelling to and from the UK, when it should have been doing something a bit more exciting. The time has come for me to pass it on to a new owner, not without regret. I hope that your adventures together are as fun and memorable as the ones I have had. Please see list below of vehicle spec, spares, tools etc which come with the vehicle.

Land Rover Defender 110 200tdi Camper Expedition Explorer Off The Grid Camping

Sellers Comments
Land Rover Defender 110 200tdi Camper Expedition Explorer Off The Grid Camping.

Hello and welcome to this rare sale. This sale is for my Landrover Defender 110 Camper. This will get you to areas that no other campers have been before!

The Land Rover its self is a pickup model with a genuine 200tdi engine, fitted from the factory. This runs very nicely and is unbelievably quiet along with gearbox.
Chassis wise is very solid has had some welding work over the years.
All the outriggers are solid, (i would say it's time for another wax oil to keep on top of it)
Again, the bulkhead is in overall good condition. There is some surface rust coming through on the bulkhead corners, (nothing major see pics).
The Land Rover has had new door skins over the last 18months. It's also fitted with a few extras like new snorkel, jackable rocksliders, high-level front bumper, chequer plate, light bar, 30mm spacers etc.
This is Moted until September 2017.
All panels are fairly straight for a Defender.
It has half leather seats and a matching cubby box the front.

Now to the camper part:
The camper body is made out of lightweight fibreglass. This will sleep 2 Adults and one small child, (or as many as you want to fit).
This makes up as a double bed with child's space above the cab.
The camper conversion was done a good 10years ago and is still going strong.
It has a sink area fitting and storage under the seats.
This has been kitted out to be as basic as possible.(nothing to go wrong)

I would say the Land Rover wants a few bits doing to it such as;
New drivers door lock.
A heater switch in the cab.
Odd bit of trim
Odd mark/scratch etc here and there (it's a Land Rover)

As for the camper, its set up to be as basic as possible ie no heating or power but it would be very easy to fit, using the second leisure battery and a split charge system.
Heating wise, we were going to put a diesel heater in but it's been warm enough when we have used it, so haven't got round to it.

I had big plans for the camper over the next coming months. I was going to get it heated and the electric supply in along with a tv, paint the blue, white. Just make it a really modern camper. Unfortunately, time is against me and its time for it to go.

The camper is ready to go on an adventure as it is or with a little work could be something very special. This 110 has done many trips overseas and is a very trustworthy Land Rover.
She now sits on a set of alloys wheels with new Bridgestone tyres.

Land Rover Defender Camper

Sellers Comments Expedition camper based on a 130" Land Rover Special vehicles chassis, originally built for the Midlands Electricity Board, with a single cab, and a quad tech body. Myself and my family wanted to do a world trip, and built the camper with this in mind. It was built to be comfortable for 2 adults, and 2 children. It was designed to be 6" high inside, 6" wide, and had to have a cassette toilet & cubicle. I did a 1/10 scale drawing (which I still have), and one of my customers happened to be building composite quad tech bodies for Land Rover, so they took my drawing, converted it into a cad drawing, and all the body panels were ordered flat packed, and arrived on a truck a few weeks later. As the body is 6' wide, I widened the cab, having 4" put in each side of a brand new bulkhead, then it was just a matter of making a wider windscreen surround, and also the front wings, so now it doesn't need the rubber arches. This means, you are not stuffed up against the doors, like a normal defender! The floor is 50mm thick with insulation, and the walls and roof are 27mm thick with insulation, the walls and roof are faced with fibreglass both sides, which makes for a very clean finish. It has a rear door that hinges at the top, and is lifted by gas struts. In 2001 we did a trip half way across Russia to the Altai Region, with kids aged 4 and 6, we were there a month, and it took 8 days of driving each way in Russia, all in all, it did 10000 miles in 3 weeks of driving. It has all the comforts you would want in an expedition vehicle, 220v hook up, plug in systems panel, sterling battery charger, leisure battery, and even a couple of solar panels on the roof, sink, gas hob, oven and grille, microwave (220v), pumped water from military plastic water carriers (easy to sterilise). It has 2 on board propane tanks, which you fill from autogas pumps (cheap), and even a barbecue point. The fridge is 3 way, and works well. There is plenty of storage space, with 4 overhead lockers for clothes, 2 overhead lockers in the kitchen area above the sink and stove, with a large locker at the back for food with a shelf below for tools. There is an open locker below the fridge, where we carried 2 Honda 1000w inverter generators. There is a permanent double bed above the cab, and another can be made up using clip together plywood base, and mattresses carried on board. It has the Thetford Cassette toilet, and even a shower, but in practice, we found it easier to bathe in Rivers & Lakes. Mechanically, it is a standard 200tdi engine with LT77 5 speed gearbox, both the gearboxes were reconditioned by Legs in Oswestry, when we returned from Russia. It has an Allard intercooler, which really helps. It has a heavy duty rear anti roll bar, which stops a lot of roll. It has a PTO driven superwinch, with 100 feet of dyneema synthetic rope. Range Rover vented discs fitted, with proper spacers to front calipers, heavy duty rear springs, with air helpers inside, controlled from the dash, and a viair compressor fitted under the bonnet, to give on board air in a receiver mounted to the rear cross member, so you are able to inflate your own tyres. It has an eberspacher 12 volt diesel fueled air heater heater, which I will have serviced, so you can keep nice and warm. Seitz double glazed windows fitted all round with built in roller fly, and privacy screens, the roof has 3 opening skylights, with privacy/fly screens fitted. There is also a military escape hatch fitted above the front bed, which in reality is just an aluminium version of a glass sun roof, you can open it, or take it out, and gain access to the roof, which can also be accessed by a ladder at the back. The chassis is sound with no welding, although waxoyling it wouldn't be a bad idea. It has hi lift jacking points at the back, and in the front bumper. The camper will cruise at 65mph all day long, big hills will knock it back, but it hustles along quite nicely. It is in the May edition of Land Rover Owner, with a photo taken at Tyungur bridge in the Altai, google it in maps and images, and you'll see how far we got (1/4 way round the world!). I don't use it very often, its been to Glastonbury Festival twice with friends (would have like to take it myself!) I have built a camper based on a new Mercedes Sprinter, that does everything I need, so its time for someone else to take her to new places! I will supply it with a 12 month MOT. Please don't expect a super comfortable RV, this is about as comfortable a Land drover expedition vehicle, as you are likely to get, which can still cover long distances in a reasonable time!
