Re advertised due to time wasters here and in Europe!!!!! 1956 series 1 lwb selling on behalf of a friend and customer this series 1 is in good condition for its age. the chassis has had work before looks like replacement rear cross member in past. the O/s chassis outrigger was replaced by me as it was rusted out due to a leaking brake master cylinder. the engine is good and was recently replaced as original had thrown a rod ( it took two years to find a decent replacement) this series 1 was originally owned by the royal navy and you can still see its original blue paint in places. the reason for sale is my customer had his 90 stolen and now needs to sell this to recoup funds. i must stress this does need some more work to get road worthy. the brake are not hydraulically connected as it has been retrofitted with a series 2 master cylinder and is not currently connected also none of the brakes have been checked in its time with me. The Land Rover Defender is an off-road vehicle produced under this name by the British manufacturer, Land Rover, since 1991. However, the vehicle is the direct heir of the first Land Rover that made its debut in 1948. The first prototype was built by the British automaker in 1947 and it was designed for the army. This iconic car was improved over the years and it has been known for generations as a national treasure.

For Sale - Land Rover Series 1 , Ex Military , 1956 - £3750 - ONO - Esher
Sellers Comments - Land rover series 1, 88 inch , 1956 , Ex military De mobbed in 1966 and road registered hence the D reg, comes with Heritage certificate to confirm manufacture date of 22nd October 1956 on chassis number 111700*** An age related plate could be applied for but it would be a shame as this Landy comes complete with its original logbook and varies other documents as pictured. This Land rover has been off the road for approx 25 years and requires a full restoration, it was originally a petrol but has been converted to a 2.25 diesel at some point in its life, i had the engine running approx one year ago and it sounded fine but has not run since, gearbox and drive train are untested. body work is fairly straight apart from the crunch on the nearside rear as shown in the picture, chassis needs a reasonable amount of welding but in my opinion is saveable, chassis number is still visable on the dumb iron. Bulkhead is very rotten and would properly need replacing. The Land Rover is located in Kt10 Surrey and will need trailering away, it does roll freely so shouldn't be a problem to move. Cash on collection preferred but will also accept back transfer.

1956 Land Rover Series 1 LWB
Sellers Comments -
1956 Series 1 109”
I have owned this Series 1 for almost 5 years and used to use it regularly, however as I now often work away it has been used less and less. Stood now for some time so I have decided to sell it to someone who will care for it and use it. Previously from the Scottish Highlands where it's owner had kept it for 20 years before coming to me (via previous owner who only kept it a month as he found it heavier to drive than expected)
Overall it is in fairly good and pretty much original condition. The body is straight with no damage of note and has had some painting over the years. There have been repairs on the chassis/hangers as would be expected of one this age. It starts first time but could do with a tune up to idle smoothly, the battery and leads have recently been replaced.
The petrol pump was replaced at some time in the past with a non-standard unit located down by the tank which had since failed. I have replaced that (again non-standard) to make sure it all runs. I still have the original glass sedimenter bowl so a future owner can refit an original type pump if wished.
Brakes and steering checked over and electrics (such as there are) are working. As it has been stood, the brakes do rub and need bedding in again.
Cab is the “luxury” one with a bench seat back, roof and door linings – “luxury” is a relative word although the seats are surprisingly comfortable on the move. Original heater fitted and working. Has original starting handle and an original type screw jack and handles.
The bulkhead has some rusting around the vent level.
Has four good tyres with plenty of tread fitted plus a spare that is usable.
Canvas is not the correct one, belongs to a later 109”. It was fitted when I got the Land Rover and I retained it to keep the rear tub dry. I did consider getting it altered to fit or buying a new one but that is for the new owner now – sticks are in good condition.
Happy to try and answer any questions, contact me to arrange to view.

Series 1 Land rover 1956 86" military chassis plate RAF 3.5 Rover V8 auto fully restored with extensive build portfolio see pics
OWNERS FULL DESCRIPTION OF THE VEHICLE:
Land Rovers have now become such a common sight on Britain's roads that it is hard to imagine life without them. However, the world had somehow struggled along without these go-anywhere marvels until Maurice Wilks had a bright idea in 1947.
Taking a war surplus American Jeep as his inspiration, the Rover chief designer messed around with prototypes on his farm in Anglesey until he perfected the vehicle that was launched at the Amsterdam Motor Show in 1948. Then as now, a distinctive feature of the Land Rover was the bodywork, constructed of a lightweight alloy of aluminium and magnesium called Birmabright, then in plentiful war surplus supply, as was the green paint, the only colour available.
From 1948 until 1951 the Land Rover was only offered with an 80-inch wheelbase and a 1.6-litre petrol engine. So basic was it that tops for the doors and a roof (canvas or metal) were optional extras. In 1950, the lights moved from a position behind the grille to protruding through the grille. The engine was increased to a more usable 2.0-litres in 1952, 1954 seeing big changes when the 80-inch chassis was replaced by an 86-inch version offering 25% more carrying capacity.
Raf airfield lighting 1956 86" series 1 Land rover with military chassis plate, former military reg number 37aa85.
Fitted with a rover 3500cc petrol engine on a Borg Warner 65 automatic gearbox.
Been dry stored until 6 months ago It has had a full restoration, every nut and bolt on this car has been thoroughly gone through. No stone has been left unturned on this rebuild, I must say I have kept some of the character, these cars tell a story and a lot of these are over restored with kilos of filler, this is not one of those cars.
New v5 present and registration number 998UYO. This is mot exempt and Tax exempt.
New stainless fuel tank, new custom Long life custom exhaust (lifetime guaranteed) Facet fuel pump, Edelbrock 500cfm carb, Mallory coil and Mallory Unilite electronic distributor, 4 new tyres, full professional re-wire, Reconditioned steering box, full professional re-spray, inside outside, underneath, wheels etc.
I have took the Series One on a 10 mile drive today and it drives perfect, any trial is more than welcome with proof of insurance.
I have taken quite a number of photos of the restoration these, are in a album to stay with the Land Rover along with the all the original paperwork that comes with it.
It has had a full DVLA (SGS) inspection to verify the identity of the vehicle as part of the registration process (I am the first register owner on the new registration)
These Series ones are going up rapidly in value and this car represents a rock solid investment for any perspective purchaser, that’s also a usable car that can stay with more modern traffic due to the engine/gearbox combination.
For any more pictures please contact RNR AUTOSPORT. I have over 100 pictures of the restoration by myself. (I'm a fully qualified and time served Land Rover mechanic). I am willing to arrange export at buyers costs upon

Land Rover Series 1 LWB 109 - For Sale
Been in the family since bought brand new in 1956.
Original engine, totally rebuilt 2 years ago by a top, fussy, retired Rover mechanic (old school) and done less than 200 miles since.

Starts first time in all weather and runs like a well oiled
pocket watch. Perfectly solid bulkhead and chassis and I can't see evidence of
any previous welding or patching either.
£1000's been spent on it over the past 5 years. New wiring
loom throughout, fuel tank, tyres, battery, brake master cylinder, brake
cylinders and pipes, canvas top, full engine re-build, petrol pump, etc, etc,
etc. Original number plate included. 2118 HK.
Working Semaphore indicators and old horn.
It was hand painted 5 years ago and that is showing signs of
wear.

Beautiful to drive and will be sorely missed. A real beauty.
Sadly, ill health brings about the sale.
Please feel free to ask any questions or to view and test
drive. Cleared cheque only and within 7 days of end of auction.

LAND ROVER Series 1 petrol county station wagon, recent restoration Superb example with a solid bulkhead, 3 months warranty
For sale through AB4x4s Cleveland is a most superb 1956 series 1 that has just benefited from a full professional respray in its original colour.

The entire vehicle has been through a restoration in the recent past and completely defies its age!
Such a vehicle is quite rare being a genuine factory station wagon with safari roof.
Bulkhead is solid and the chassis is one of the best I have ever seen.
Some of its recent parts include new water pump, new seats and the original carb was refurbished.
In short she runs very nicely indeed and maintains her original registration no of WUB 363.
It is unusual to find Series 1 landrovers in such lovely condition and are becoming more and more rare, proving to be superb investments.

Land Rover series 1 one 1956 86 inch 80 88 project (original landrover defender)
Hello and welcome to my no reserve auction of this
increasingly rare vehicle!
This is a great opportunity for the right person to acquire
a near-complete vehicle to either restore or use for parts.
1956 86inch Series 1 Landrover
Original Hardtop.
Lovely straight body panels. They really are in good order.
Fitted with a 2.25 petrol engine at some point in its life.
Axles, gearbox, all running gear in place.
Original dash centre console.
Original lights and grille
Some original seats (rare)
Spare unused bulkhead included in sale.
Issues:
Rust!
Nothing surprising here - bulkhead is completely shot.
Footwells none-existent and pillars full of holes.
Chassis is actually not that bad, front chassis legs (dumb
irons) are rusted through and some outriggers need work but I believe it could
be salvaged overall.
Engine has not been running for around 15 years. (Was
running when parked up....)
No idea of gearbox condition.
Comes with ugly steel wheels and I do not have the
originals, sadly.
Basically it is a typical example of a landrover which has
been sat around for many years so nothing works but many things could!
The vehicle has no identification (number plate, V5 etc.)
but this can be obtained with help from the Series 1 Owners Club.
Needs trailering away - do not attempt to tow it!
