1977 LAND ROVER 88" - 4 CYL GREEN

This land rover is a 1977 series 3 88" special edition green canvas back. It has its original diesel engine. It has had minimal use in its time with a very low milage to show for it. It starts first time everytime regardless of how long it has been sat. This is a beautiful little 4×4 that is extremely reliable and will take you anywhere. It has a hand throttle along with the peddle and a handle start on the front (hole for which can be seen in photo) along with the key start. A hitch on the back, and one that has been put on the front (can be removed with ease). For the last few years it has been a vehicle for access up a rough private road which my car wouldn't be able to travel. Because of this it has not required an MOT. Mechanically it works sound though it has a few minor problems which may stop it getting an MOT, though these are small issues that are cheaply fixed. This would be a lovely project for anyone who admires old classics. It works wonderfully and wouldn't require much done to it mechanically. Only really needing the body work and interior restored. In January next year (2017) it will be 40 years old and therfore be tax exempt (meaning no road tax is needed to be paid for it). A sound and quality vehicle for anyone. Very reliable and very nice to drive. Spare tyre comes with it as can be seen in one of the photos. It will only gain value in time.

1977 LAND ROVER SERIES 3, 2.25 DIESEL, 6 MONTHS MOT, PROJECT NEEDS WORK For Sale £1400

Sellers Comments - 1977 Land rover series 3 2.25 Diesel 6 Months MOT Tidy enough for a land rover which is nearly 40yrs old, engine runs well, but has developed a major problem with the gearbox. It started with just jumping out of reverse and second gear, but has now escalated and has major issues in high box, so its going to need a rebuild/replacement. The chassis has recently had both front dumb irons replaced and a few other areas around the front chassis, although it still requires work mainly to the two front out riggers, but there may be other areas. Iv only had it a few months and if I enjoyed driving it I would do the work, but its just far too agricultural for my liking. All electrics lights, indicators, washers, wipers, horn work - even the cab heater works. Brakes work well. The front seats are tatty, the rear bench seats are ok. Paintwork is poor, bodywork is also as you would expect with dents and dings just about all round. Both front doors and rear door close well on both latches. Wheels and tyres are ok, tyres cracking a little but good tread and no punctures. Footwells have had past repairs, but are quite tidy and strong. Will also be tax exempt from next year. It will start and drive in low box for loading purposes, but cant be driven away with the gearbox as it is, so will need recovering. V5 present and in my name and currently SORN.

Land Rover 101 / Defender Forward Control - Diesel - ready for work or play 1977

Sellers Comments- Land Rover 101 / Defender Forward Control - Diesel - ready for work or play. Land Rover 101 rebuilt to a very high standard in 2015 with lots of unique features and tons of new parts. This vehicle is reliable and easy to get parts for when needed [read on]. I have owned this 101 for the last 15 years. In this time it has only missed 1 Mot and this was only because I was working on it and it was under SORN at the time. It has been re-built as the base vehicle for an overland camper. Due to a change of plan the 101 is now for sale. The basic spec is 2.5 tdi Diesel with Power assisted steering, 5 speed gearbox, disc brakes on the front, rewired, re-engineered to get rid of the niggles that the standard 101 has. The 128 ltr fuel tank has a range of about 600 miles. The chassis has been stripped, repaired in a few places, repainted with an anti-rust paint, then red oxide paint, then black paint. It was then coated inside and out with lots of waxoil. There is no rust. The unique truck cab has been fabricated from aluminium with a big roll over bar built in and sprayed with 2K paint. It has been fully sound-insulated and carpeted and is comfortable on the motorway at 60mph, top speed is 70mph. The purpose-built cab doors are aluminium with full sized wind-down windows. It has been rewired throughout with relays and fuses and has new lights. It has refurbished Defender seats and, as a special feature, the drivers seat goes back further than normal to accommodate the taller driver. There is a cd/radio and 4 speakers. There is also a rear sliding door. The special 101 shaped dash-board houses the Defender clocks and turbo boost gauge. Windscreen glass is new. Engine: Land Rover 200 Tdi which breathes through the front mounted snorkel and a large Allisport intercooler, silicone hoses and a full stainless steel exhaust. To date the engine has done approx’ 110k miles of which 23k have been done by me in the 101. [I saw the doner Discovery that the engine came from, it had 87k on the clock]. The engine has recently had a new cam belt. It has a uprated recored radiator with an extra thick core and a Kenlowe cooling fan and also has a low water buzzer. The gearbox is new - it has an Ashcroft re-built uprated R380 5-speed gearbox with a front mounted oil cooler. The transfer box has an enlarged sump for extra cooling. The prop-shafts are new, heavy duty, with wide angle yokes. [No nasty prop rumble]. Power assisted steering is powered by an Adwest 4 bolt box (Defender/Discovery) with a heavy duty track rod. All steering joints have grease nipples. The leaf springs are mounted to the chassis with Polybushes throughout and shock absorbers are Terrafirma big bore expedition front and rear. The front axle is a re-built Land Rover Defender 110 front axle with vented discs brakes. It has an Ashcroft 4 pin diff and heavy duty half shafts and heavy duty drive flanges. The rear axle is a rebuilt Salisbury 110 rear axle with drum brakes, new pipes and flexible throughout. All wheels and tyres are new. Cooper STT 315/75 r16 on black 8” Modular rims. Unique stainless steel wheel steps embossed with one 0 one. Locking wheel nuts. Head lights are Crystal halogen x 4 with left and right hand dips for if you go overseas. Main beam is all 4 lights. Front bull bar also holds 2 jerry cans. The 101 comes with 2 new unused spare tyres and approx’ £1000 worth of spare parts to keep the truck on the road. Feel free to ask questions and come and look at this unique vehicle in the flesh. I will take you for a drive and give you the opportunity to see how special it is. Vehicle is in Nottingham, NG9.

1977 LAND ROVER 88" - 4 CYL BLUE SERIES 3 - Parabolic Springs!

Overall a tidy example but has issues that need sorting. Was used regularly last year and never let me down.

Had new inner wings, fuel tank, battery, coil and starter motor last year. Earlier this year a full set of GB Parabolic Springs were installed, these were £300 and have never seen the road yet!

Has been to the local MOT station but failed on the points below. The new stringent MOT tester (that incidentally isn't there any more, only lasted a week!) obviously doesn't like or know Land Rovers and when you read the fail sheet you will understand why.

001 - Battery needs a strap, I think it is there just not on when my brother took it for the test.
002 - Probably requires new lamp.
003 - Brake light switch has been replaced.
004 - No idea, they light up probably need a polish or replacing or a nicer tester!
005 & 006 - Both front footwells have holes on their outer edges, they were like this when I bought it and have not got any worse.
007 - The outrigger to the rear of the petrol tank needs replacing (I think there is a new one with the vehicle to fit).
008 - Probably requires new lamp.
009 - The springs in the arms appear to have lost tension, probably require replacement.
010 - There is the smallest hole (less than a 5p) on the crossmember below the gearbox.
011 & 012 - Appears to be a repeat of number 5 & 6
013 - New bush needed.

014 - Tighten them or replace.

For Sale £4250 - Land Rover Series 3 2.25 diesel new MOT, gorgeous, 1000's spent, must see!!

Sellers Comments
Land Rover Series 3, 2.25 diesel, 1977, 88500miles, 12 months MOT

Firstly I am advertising this on behalf of a friend so any questions there may be a slight delay in response.

Not quite sure where to start on this one other than you are looking at an absolutely gorgeous series 3 land rover.

This vehicle is in exceptional condition for its age, the chassis as you can see from the pictures is solid with no corrosion and can even be waxoiled (protected) should you want this however it currently is bare and welcomes inspection.

This series has recently passed its MOT and along with 1000's of pounds worth of receipts comes with a new master cylinder, brake cylinders, shoes, brake flexis, leaf spring bushes and a new battery.

As you can see from the pictures the only issues are the lower sections of the doors, both are the same and this really is the worst part other than the good old series brakes having to pump the pedal a few times to stop.... Drives like a dream but it is one of those vehicles you will either love or dislike, so viewings are welcome and advised.

currently this series is on weller steel wheels with 7.50 x 16 deestone tyres however there is another set of wheels with the same size tyres however road tyres which are included with the auction.

Dont miss this one and as ive said, there arent many out there like this in this condition. its not perfect but with some paintwork and a slight tinker here or there can be!!
