Land Rover Series 2 109 LWB Pickup Ex-Military 1959 Unfinished Project

Sellers Comments -
For sale is my ex-military 1959 Land Rover Series 2 109 LWB Pickup unfinished project
I bought this vehicle in April this year and worked on it in my spare time. The plan was to finish it completely and either use it or sell it but unfortunately I am going to have to sell it as it is, because I just don't have the time to finish it.
This is an ideal winter project for a Land Rover enthusiast! A lot of the hard work is already done!
This is a solid investment as Land Rovers are going up in value!
Tax and MOT exempt
First registered on 12/07/1959 then registered for civilian use on 10/06/1999 with 4 former keepers since this date.
Sadly it does not have the original engine or gearbox. I have been told the engine is a Sherpa van 2.5 N/A Diesel (but it looks very similar to the Defender engine) with a Defender LT77 gearbox and LT230 transfer box.
V5C present and in my name, chassis number also present.
Bodywork is in good condition. It has had a full respray in matte Deep Bronze Green. There wasn't a lot wrong with the bodywork to start with, it just had a rough paint job and the previous owner had started to sand it down but the body was straight, which is unlikely on a Land Rover!
The wheels have been painted the same colour.
The tyres are in good condition but the near side rear tyre has damage/scoring to the inside.
Mileage reads 133,797 but I am not sure if that is genuine or not.
Sadly I have no paperwork or MOT documents with the vehicle but some information can be found on the DVLA website.
I am currently in the process of finding out the military history, if anyone knows how to find this info please let me know!
It has had many new parts fitted including battery, transfer box input gear and bearings, transfer box cover, front diff bearings, clutch release bearing, handbrake cable, handbrake drum parts, clutch plate, fan belt, rear brake shoes, 2 wheel cylinders on NSF, air filter and fresh oil in the engine, gearbox, transfer box and diffs.
The number plates are in the military style with 3 rows of 2 digits but I think it is supposed to be 2 rows of 3 digits to be completely legal.
The chassis seems to be in very good condition, it may have had a new chassis at some point in it's life.
As this was bought as a project there were various parts missing and I have managed to source most of the parts but there might be the odd bit missing still, I'm not too familiar with Land Rover's so I'm not 100% sure of what might still be missing.
What's left to do:
I have not yet managed to get the engine running so I cannot guarantee that the engine is good. It cranks over, but slowly. I attempted to bump start it by towing it but found out that the clutch is not working. I have bled it but it still won't disengage.
The brakes are spongy so there is a problem somewhere in the system.
The wiring needs some attention, the loom is not connected to any of the front lights and I am not sure if it has a live feed to the lights.
I'm not too mechanically minded but this might be an easy fix for the right person!
Those are the main bits that need doing, then it needs the odd part being purchased such as the sill covers and wiper.
A box of spare parts and nuts/bolts are included as well as the gearbox tunnel covers.
I have described this vehicle to the best of my knowledge.
This vehicle will need to be trailered away, it could be delivered locally at a cost.
Located at Ely, Cambridgeshire.
Sold as seen.
Cash on collection preferred but will also accept bank transfer.
Any questions or to arrange a viewing just ask.
Viewing is recommended to get a good idea of what work is left to do to finish the car.
£200 goodwill deposit required within 24 hours of the auction ending.
Happy bidding!

1961 Series 2 Land Rover SWB 88" **TAX EXEMPT** Galvanised chassis

Sellers Comments - 1961 Series 2 Land Rover 88" on a galvanised chassis and tax exempt. MOT 15th june 2018 The price is £3650 - so please don't message me saying you will give me £1500 for it im not in a hurry to sell it, and the longer I keep it, the more the price will go up :))) The chassis was galvanised by previous owner and at the time, they replaced it with the series 3 bulk head and soft dash. The car lived in Scotland at there holiday cottage and only done aprox 150 miles a year for the last 10 years. MOT's and Pictures to prove all this. 2 1/4 litre petrol engine with new fuel pump, plugs, points, cap, leads, rotor arm, coil he runs like a dream. A bit paint would have this car looking awesome, but I just haven't got time. there is holes underneath the bottom door hinges, I have brought a replacement panel for one side but not had time to fit. Its a proper shed to drive, so don't be expecting a showroom car, I'm sure you are aware you have to steer this car to stay in a straight line. and once you got the hang of the gears they are easy to find lol No seatbelt, no nothing if I'm honest - but every morning at the turn of the key and a bit of choke he starts. yes when it rains you get wet but just wear a coat. In the winter to keep warm don't rely on the heater to do this, it does blow out hot air but if I'm honest you get more hot air from a fart. In the summer the roof comes off and you look pretty cool driving it (writing this bit makes me not want to sell it) and it does put a smile on your face. Does come with back bench seat cushions and a box load of spares. Any questions please just ask. Serious buyers only, don't waste my time and I won't waste yours. Cash on collection and the car is sold as seen (so don't be messaging me saying the interior light don't work a week after you buy it) Car is in Braintree, Essex you are welcome to come and view.

Land Rover Series 2a station wagon Genuine Ex-Post Office Radio Service.

Sellers Comments -
Here we have my much cherished Ex-Post Office Radio Service Series 2a, which I have owned for the past 17 years.
The colour scheme that she is presented in, along with the text and serial numbers are all correct to her service days at Radio Station Leafield in Oxfordshire. To all appearances she is as she was in service, which includes the PTO-driven, factory installed Mayflower winch on the front bumper.
There are however a few permissible modifications:
  • The road springs are parabolic, giving a better ride and better cornering.
  • The door tops are ex-military, which, personally I prefer to the originals.
  • Heated windows are installed front and rear (but not wired in).
  • An alternator has been installed along with conversion to negative earth.
  • Steering wheel has been changed for a 15" Mountney, so the indicator stalk is from a SIII.
  • Headlights upgraded to high intensity.
  • Driving lights added.
Within the past 12 months considerable money has been spent on keeping her on the road, and prior to the M.O.T.:
  •  An electrical issue was resolved with the replacement of the fuse box.
  • Clutch slave cylinder and associated pipework replaced.
  • Wiper motor replaced with New old stock.
  • Rear cross member replaced.
  • N/S/F out rigger replaced.
  • Front flexi brake hoses replaced.
  • N/S/F brake pipe replaced.
  • O/S/F track rod end dust cover replaced.
  • Fuel lift pump replaced.
  • Starter motor replaced.
  • Coil replaced.
  • Solenoid replaced.
  • Full service, including greasing ball joints and replacing spark plugs and oil filter.
Having discovered that this Landy had an authentic 'Post Office' history, I contacted the Post Office Vehicle Owners Club, to whom I am indebted for the following information:
Your Land Rover was one of a batch of sixty with Post Office serials (fleet numbers) 203304 to 203363, yours being 203356
It became 69 621 3356 in the 1971 renumbering (year type code serial), then becoming 69 367 3356 in 1982 when Land Rovers were given type codes designating model and fuel
It was new in Brilliant Yellow inside and out (ref BS356 in the old BS381C colour range) and galvanised bumpers, with lettering in Light Bronze Green on vinyl patches
Vehicles of this period normally carried POST OFFICE TELEPHONES
                                                                    TELEPHONE MANAGER
                                                                           (location)

however yours was unusual in being new to the External Telecomms Executive at Leafield Radio Station, and would have had a non-standard inscription, possibly
                                                               POST OFFICE RADIO SERVICE
                                                                            RADIO STATION
                                                                                LEAFIELD
or something similar, possibly including the ETE title.
It replaced 17474, SXH 348, an 86" hardtop van which started life as a mail van.
These vans were generally used by cabling parties and towed a trailer winch, accompanied by a larger utility vehicle carrying the tools and towing a cable drum trailer, however yours would have been used for a variety of duties around the radio station
After withdrawal from normal service it was retained at Oxford Telephone Motor Transport Workshop as a garage runabout.
Please note that I understand this to be the last remaining Post Office Radio Service land rover in existence.
So, thank you for looking at my listing, and if nothing else, hope you found it informative.
The usual admin stuff applies here; If you bid, you bid to buy. Any non-paying bidder WILL be reported to eBay. Advertised elsewhere, so may be withdrawn without notification.
Winner to pay a deposit of £250 by paypal within 24 hours, the balance preferably in cash or by bank transfer.
This vehicle is NOT for export - For Sale only within the U.K.
Any inspection is welcome, If you are a serious buyer, please come and have a ride around before bidding. - contact in the 1st instance via eBay messaging.
Thanks for looking and Happy bidding!!

Land Rover® Series 2 109 *CUTHBERTSON*

Sellers Comments - John Brown 4x4 Ltd of Thirsk, supplier of quality, vintage Land Rovers® to customers Worldwide, is delighted to present, on behalf of a third party, this very rare and superb CUTHBERTSON Land Rover®. Built and first registered on 8th September 1958, so a "proper" series 2, requiring no TAX or MOT, the original vehicle was despatched on 12th September 1958 to SMT Sales and Service Company Limited, Carlisle. The Cuthbertson conversion was carried out in 1958, and from there it has had an interesting history and has travelled around The World at various points, prior to returning to The UK in 2016. This is a matching numbers vehicle - chassis No 151900157 engine No 151901372. Both numbers are present on the vehicle where they should be. We are assuming that the ultra low mileage of 3982 to be correct, as who would do 100,000 road miles in a vehicle like this?! As you would imagine, mechanically it sounds and drives really well. Actually, the Cuthbertson factory still functions, and they hold records of it from 1958! That said, you could and can drive this on the road, it being road registered and road legal - in fact it is currently taxed too.

LAND ROVER SERIES 2. 1960.rare only made from 1958 to 1961. Original 2.25 petrol

Sellers Comments - This is my very genuine 1960 Land Rover Series 2 SWB 88inch 2.25 litre petrol engine. Nice and straight. Starts runs and drives very well. Still retains the original push bottom start. Engine very clean and runs well. No horrible smoke to report. Drives through all the gears nicely and stops in a straight line so all brakes working well. Mot has just been passed and runs until 9th October 2017. Passed with no advisories. Very decent canvas top fitted with no rips or holes. Bulkhead is in superb shape. Chassis is in very good shape and still on the original one. Footwells are tidy. Body panels are all straight. The only area that needs tidying is where it has just had a repair at the bottom of the O/S/F door pillar for the mot. This is clearly shown in my last picture. Original engine and gearbox. Mileage showing as 96,870 miles . First registered on 08/08/1960. Newly fitted 3 black front seats. Has 2 very decent black bench seats in rear. So can seat 7. THIS IS A VERY TIDY EXAMPLE OF THE RARE SERIES 2 model.......THIS IS NOT A 2A. Any questions or to view please email me.

1960 Series 2 Land Rover 2.25 Diesel

Sellers Comments - A mechanically sound Series 2 Landy that I have had for 2 years but which I simply don't have the time to drive, cherish or complete the restoration of. An expensive divorce and starting a new business mean that I no longer have the space in my life for such a beautiful old girl.

Land Rover Series 2 109 Double Cab - 200TDi & 5 Speed Gearbox - Selectable 4WD

Sellers Comments - I am selling my much loved Land Rover Series 2.
The reason its being sold is purely I am looking to downsize the amount of vehicles I have before moving.

Let me describe the vehicle, it is an ex military ambulance that met an unfortunate demise in the rear body department, now fitted with a stage 1 back body with a double cab roof which  was professionally  tig welded together to fit. The rear part of the cab is off a defender (off an ex James Bond Film Defender) and the front is standard Series. Rear doors are the rare split door version (but unfortunately someone before me fitted speakers in the door cards. Has Defender seats all round.
Chassis is the heavy duty combat chassis with parabolic springs fitted all round. Engine is a 200Tdi with recent cambelt with a full Steve Parker exhaust system fitted. Gearbox & transfer box is a Defender unit with selectable 4WD. Painted in RAF Blue Grey.

Chassis is good and benefits from a replacement crossmember, Chassis is not bent or cracked but has had some repairs in the past. Overall a good useable chassis.
Bulkhead is in good condition, needing no work or repairs as this was all done previously.

This vehicle has plenty of modern features such as hazards, speakers (but no stereo) soundproofing, rear fog light, reverse light etc but still retaining the character and charm of a series vehicle. This has been into Europe several times and has never let me down. I would jump in this and go with this Land Rover.

Summary:
12 Months MOT
200TDi with recent cambelt
Defender transfer and gearbox
Ashcroft selectable 4wd conversion
Custom made roof
Sound proofing
G90 Tyres on Series rims
Parabolic leaf springs
Defender seats
Upgraded Headlights and spotlights through a relays
Steve Parker exhaust system
Split rear safari doors
Freewheeling Hubs
Rocky Mountain door tops

Some people wanted to check the vehicle history online but were unable to do so. I have looked into this and the reason is that the vehicle is registered as an Rover not Land Rover.
It is registered as a Rover Ambulance with its military designation.

So if you want to check MOT or Tax etc please enter WFO 805 and make as Rover then all the information will come up.

This is a used vehicle so there are signs of wear and tear on the vehicle.
Please bid to buy and not kick tyres

Land Rover series 2 NOT series 2a totally original MOT & TAX EXEMPT

This is a Landrover series 2 and NOT series 2a

I am excited to present this amazing and rare series of Landrover.
Its engine, body and parts are all original and it work brilliantly for its age.

It is very well kept and it has been regularly maintained.
The best part is that only 500 of this series were made and this one is number 313.

It has 7 previous owners and the last owner had it for 12 years.
When I got my hands on the Landrover I considered myself very lucky especially after seeing how well was kept and maintained by the last owner.
It was use on a countryside and it looked amazing .

However , I must sell it as I cannot keep it for financial reasons.
I looked into restoration pathway but I just can’t support that kind of project due to my current work commitments.

So whoever gets this beauty , I am sure will very much enjoy it.
