1964 Land Rover Short Wheelbase Station Wagon, Road Tax Exempt

Sellers Comments This is a Series 2a short wheelbase Station Wagon with a lot of Series 3 parts. The bulkhead and 2.25 petrol engine are Series 3 for sure. It is road tax free It is also a seriously competent off-road vehicle with very good low mileage mud pattern tyres on grey modular wheels, the suspension has been raised and it has some under body protection and rock sliders. I have driven this truck where you cannot walk. It has a Defender rear door with wash-wipe and heated glass. It also has an electric Kenlowe fan and a NATO hitch. It starts and runs beautifully However - it has not been used for many years and needs a lot of work to get it back on the road. The interior is in a very poor state and it desperately needs a coat of paint. A large tin of International Harvesters red will be included. It needs a new door top (included). The original inward facing rear seats are included but not fitted. It really needs a lot of TLC. Mechanically the main issue is brakes, it has been standing for so long that they are binding and need freeing off. I recently replaced all the ignition components, starter motor and battery. It starts instantly and runs smoothly and quietly. This is a truck which would suit a true enthusiast looking for a project.

Sellers Comments - Here we have for sale a very original lovely patia 1964 88" series 2A landrover, still in its original factory finish paint, this vehicle has never been painted, original 2286cc petrol engine fitted, only 2 owners, v5 log book here with the vehicle, it's still got its original elephant hide seats fitted which are in very good condition, this must be one of the most original series 2a landrovers for sale, the chassis will need replacing, bulkhead ok but it will need work, no tax or mot, last on the road in 1988, please call for more details, the roof has been damaged since these pictures were taken, also rear door glass broken.

I've tried to describe all aspects below, but I'm not a Series expert:

Chassis - appears sound throughout

Bodywork - generally very good with a couple of minor dents and a short split in a rear quarter panel. 

Paintwork - seems original and polished up nicely on a test patch. There are some scratches I will try and add photos.

Bulkhead - appears sound

Engine - complete and ran when I bought it though there was a problem with the fuel pump. Happy to try and start it for viewings. 

Gearbox, Transfer and 4WD controls all tested OK at that time.

Electrical - Appears complete

Wheels - seem original and OK, spare present

Canvas - Clearly not original, seems all fine

Deposit required (£200) immediately on purchase, balance on PayPal or cash on collection preferred.

Landrover Series 3 - 1964

The 2.25 litre petrol engine was rebuilt 7 years ago over the last 5 years the landrover has been used a lot.  I have done a lot of work on the vehicle over the summer months breaks,  wheel bearings,  steering ball joints all overhauled.  The Landrover is has an MOT to November 2016. 

Fitted to the landrover is an Husky electric Winch, Kenlowe fan.

Land Rover Series 2A 6 wheel petrol recovery vehicle Land rover Series 2a 88inch 1964 recovery vehicle.

Land rover series 2A, it is registered as a 88inch, and the rear axle is a dummy axle, my intention was to make it 6 wheel drive, On the chassis number it has a suffix letter which confirms that the alterations was done at manufacture, so it is a authentic 6 wheel landrover. Its a shame I can not see the project through but have to divert the cash to another vehicle. It has the brackets in for a harvey frost towing crane so can still be fitted if desired. Which obviously explains that it was a tow vehicle in its previous life.
