Sellers Comments - 1981 w reg LAND ROVER SERIES 3. SWB 88" with original 2.25 Diesel engine.

Lovely and straight Land Rover. You really can't find many straight panelled ones anymore. All differing colours of green !

Engine runs well and after initial start up smoke (they all do!), runs very cleanly.

Gearbox working and drives through all gears nicely. 

Brakes work well. Handbrake works well. Clutch works well.

Very good chassis. Very solid. No holes. The only welded plate I can see is on the front dumb iron.

Rear cross member good. Outriggers good.

Door hinges top and bottom are good on both sides.

Bulkhead is good apart from needing one small plate on the passenger side as can be seen in the pictures.

Door tops may need replacing as have lost the felt/rubber that the windows slide in. Having said that the drivers side window still slides open and closed fine. Passenger side window is stiff.

Nice older retrimmed red leather seats in front x3. Look good with no rips.

2 bench seats in back.

All have seat belts fitted front and rear.

Land Rover Series 1 88 for Restoration very straight car, great runner - BAS 852

UK car that would originally of had a diesel in it, they were only produced for 10 months unfortunately it now has a 2250 petrol in it that rune well . 

I have the V5 in my name.

The chassis is good original condition but would benefit from x2 new outriggers and some light welding on the back end. 

The bulkhead is in not too bad condition. It does have a hole on the left hand side above the vents and is starting to bubble up in places. also the gear box tunnel has a hole in it on the left side . 

All the wiring will need looking at as some things are working and some are not. The fuel tank has a leak in it so it has to be run off a temporary one, i do have all the seats for it some where they will be included if i can find them. The car is in need of a master cylinder as there are no brakes on the fut brake just the hand brake.  

it is fitted with overdrive, I think it is one of the first to have this as standard, it also has free wheeling hubs and parabolic suspension so drives and rides well for a series 1. there is a spare wheel as well. 

Cash on collection. It will need to be trailed away but it will drive on the trailer its self no problem.

For sale is my 1972 Series 3 Land Rover which is tax exempt (Historic Vehicle class) with a petrol 3.5 Rover V8 (SD1).

I have not driven it for 6 years now and spent 4 years stored in my garage. I have since purchased a further 2 toys which has now evicted it to the driveway and I no longer have time to use it for what its designed for.

The previous owner had completed a ground up restoration on it and have all photos/dvd of what he had done. It was also featured on the front page of the Land Rover Monthly magazine with an article about it, which I still have.

From memory it has the following;

Suffix D series 3 Gearbox (i think). Yellow and red levers. Also has an overdrive
Kenlowe electric fan (Comes on at certain temp, with a manual override)
New front half shafts 
Replaced both diffs for a better ratio
8500lb electric winch run from a separate battery (Has a switch to redirect the charge from alternator to each battery) - I have never used it but was working with remote when I bought the Land Rover.
2 x Cobra bucket seats with custom made Land Rover fabric in front and 4 x fold-up seats in rear each with the same custom made Land Rover fabric
Heavy duty spare wheel carrier on rear door.
I remember that the soft top cover was made from a special type of canvas but do not recall...
Rocky mountain suspension - Leaf springs
4 x driving lamps on roof (detachable)
Snorkel 
PA system with aerial 
35" Goodyear Wrangler Tyres (35x12.50R15) - Rarely needs to be in 4WD mode with these
Stainless steel twin exhaust system 
New Radiator

As already mentioned, I have not driven this since 2011 and has been stored mostly in garage until recently. It ran fine back then and it starts and moves now (Jump started due to old battery), however I will not say its a runner or runs smooth as I don't know and it has no MOT, tax or insurance to test drive. I would therefor treat this as a running project that may need some mechanical work and a good service to be able to drive on the road. 

This Land Rover is made for offroading and never let me down for the few times I went green laning and to Salisbury plain. It was a beast of a vehicle with a loud v8 rumble which never got boring to hear. I also used it as a commuter to work in the summer, with drum brakes all round, no power steering and 35" wheels it always kept you on your toes which for me was the best part of driving it.

Things required to fix/fit;

New battery
Hazard lights don't work but individual indicators do work (Possibly flasher unit needs replacing)
Currently the snorkel is not connected to the carbs but I do have the pipe and fittings for it
Paintwork is a bit scabby all round with grazes from trees here and there from green laning
The Kenlowe fan has been taken off to fit the new radiator and was never put back on. I do have new fittings for it though
The grille also needs bolting back on after fitting the fan

Has no MOT, and with no test drive I cannot say its roadworthy so please consider transporting it!

Sellers Comments Landrover series 3, swb 88 petrol station wagon / safari I bought this a few months ago with the intentions of doing it up, but it has sat in my garden pretty much since I got it. My work schedule this year Is so busy it looking unlikely I'm going to get chance to do it. So it's with great regret that I'm going to sell it. When I first got it I had it running and sounded spot on, but I robbed the coil for another project and when I replaced it I put the condenser wire on the wrong side and burnt it out, so this will need replacing before it can be driven. This is a nice original series 3 station wagon that will be great for someone with a little tlc. The chassis will need work on the back crossmember and n/s spring hanger, also the o/s front horn will need a bit of repair, I have got a new section that I will include . The bulk head looks to be good with only a little bit of surface rust on the lower inner post . I have got a log book

Land Rover 88 Series 2 Petrol SWB 1958 N/R - No Reserve

This is in a very original and unmolested condition with great patina featuring, as far as we can tell, all of the original features of the early series 2. 
Registered in 1959 it's both MOT and tax exempt.
Odometer is showing 23k miles which is believed to be original.

It starts on the button... runs, drives well and has been in regular use.

Chassis is in excellent condition and does not need any welding.
Could probably do with a set or tyres.

1957 Land Rover Series 1 88" Petrol

Sellers Comments - Land Rover Series 1, first registered on 14/11/1957 with the reg number 482 BTU. It comes with a full new log book with 2 previous owners. The way it sits now is how I bought it about 6 months ago from the same place it has stood for over 25 years. I have done a full HPI check on it and it is clean, never written off or scrapped, I would have put a picture up of it but ebay will only let me upload 12 photos, I will happily send more on request. The chassis and bulkhead are salvageable (so I am told by a specialist) but it does need a lot of work and is not for the faint hearted. It comes with 2 mint condition doors that came with it and I am told by the old owner that they are the ones for this and they were put in the shed when it was parked up. I am absolutely gutted to have to sell this but if I'm honest I will never get the time to do it and someone else will. I would highly recommend coming to have a look at it before bidding, I have been as honest as possible. Collection from Corwen, North Wales, local delivery can be arranged.
