Land Rover Series 2a 1963 tax exempt V8 galvanized bulkhead solid chassis

Sellers Comments - 1963 series 2a,full rag top,TAX EXEMPT.not been used since 2011. engine runs.brakes good and working. coil springs with disc brakes, early rover v8 on 4 speed manual series box.engine bolts directly onto gear box with standard bell housing,NO adaptor plate is used. there is also a smiths cab heater present with kenlowe cooling fan. leaf spring mounting points still on solid sound standard chassis,so if wanted to re-axle back to drum brakes and leaf springs would not be a huge job. please only bid if you fully intend to complete purchase only selling as no time to go off roading, which was why it was purchased. will need trailering away as no mot.

Land Rover Series 2A SWB 1963 2.25 Petrol 12 Months MOT - Tax Exempt

Sellers Comments First registered on 18th March 1963 it has a new 12 month MOT (expires 26 Feb 18) and is tax exempt due to its age. Starts, runs and stops well. Someone has fitted a brake servo at some point which no doubt helps with stopping! Bought by me in 2010 with the intention of gradually improving it, I've done a few things to it but don't now have the time to carry on with it, so it's time to pass it on to someone else. Fairey Overdrive Towball Heated Front Screens 'simonbbc' Electronic Ignition Optima Red Top battery (really impressed with this) New Exmoor Trim seats Recent new brake and clutch master cylinders It has the front appearance of a late Series 2A but I have all (or virtually all) of the parts required to turn it back to its original appearance. I also have the hood sticks and almost new canvas tilt to turn it into a soft top if required. Please see the photos - all these items are available by separate negotiation and will be offered to the winning bidder. If not wanted they will be auctioned separately later. It needed a bit of work for its MOT - some welding to the nearside leaf spring mounting and new headlamps and wiring to the rear lamps and tow socket. There were several advisories on the MOT - some slight play to the offside front wheel bearing, offside central chassis outrigger corroded and a note that the tyres are starting to perish. Other bits that you need to be aware of - as you can see from the photos it would benefit from a repaint, there are freewheeling hubs on the front, but one of them is stuck, the speedometer overreads wildly, there is some corrosion to the bottom of the door frames below the bottom hinges, and in the outer end of the nearside footwell. I've tried to show the detail in the photos, but let me know if you need more pictures. Aside from that I think it's all fine, or as fine as a 54-year old Land Rover tends to be. Very usable as it is, or could form the basis of a gradual rolling restoration. There is no reserve, and no buy it now price - to be fair to all bidders I will let the auction run to its end. Payment by Paypal within 24 hours of auction end please, or cash on collection from Haslemere, Surrey.

KFO 130 - 1963 Land Rover Series IIA - Survivor !! 34,498 miles

KFO 130 - 1963 Land Rover Series IIA - Survivor !!
Rare to find in this condition - this particular Land Rover came to us back in 2000 in a rather unusual way.
Local businessman Mr Stephen Johns was in the process of retiring, selling his business and embarking on a dream that he had had for his retirement - a museum of unusual vehicles and memorabilia. He was looking for some particularly unusual Land Rovers for what was to become the famous"Exmoor Classic Car Collection".
Naturally, looking to find the best and most unusual examples available he came to visit us here at the Land Rover Centre.
Over the period of a couple of months he purchased a number of Land Rovers from us, including a concours example of a period Series 1 recovery truck fully fitted with all the equipment, a very low mileage Land Rover Fire engine, one of the ORIGINAL Tower of London Ceremonial Lightweight Land Rovers - and a deactivated 25 pounder field gun to tow behind the lightweight !
During this period, he negotiated to exchange "his old Land Rover" KFO 130 - and we were very happy to be able to take it in exchange.
It was as delightful then as it is now, and KFO soon found a new home. It has resided in Warwickshire with Walter for the last 16 years, and has been enthusiastically owned until last week, when Walter contacted us to explain that he could no longer enjoy the Land Rover due to a particularly bad back - So once again, we were more than happy to renew our friendship with KFO.
As you will see from the pictures KFO is a great survivor. It has certainly had some very light restoration work over the years - but everything that has been done has been perfectly in keeping with such a lovely example of this iconic Land Rover.
When sold by us in 2000, the mileage was 31,615 - Current mileage is a measly 34,498 - believed to be genuine, and this is backed up with the driving experience as well as previous MOT certificates:
  • 1997 - 29,662 miles
  • 1998 - 30,790
  • 1999 - 31,258
  • 2000 - 31,604
  • 2000 - 31,615
  • 2001 - 31,954
  • 2002 - 32,215
  • 2003 - 32,728
  • 2004 - 33,005
  • 2005 - 33,093
  • 2006 - 33,196
  • 2007 - 33,465
  • 2008 - 33,600
  • 2009 - 33,686
  • 2010 - 33,803
  • 2011 - 33,915
  • 2012 - 33,959
  • 2013 - 34,180
  • 2014 - 34,252
  • 2015 - 34,356
  • 2016 - 34,498 - current mileage
Other original features include:
  • metal spoke steering wheel
  • correct for period Tex Magnalux indicator stalk
  • Round Smiths heater
  • Single smiths windscreen wiper
  • 600 x 16 Avon traction mileage tyres
This Land Rover is ready to be used and admired exactly as it is - or the new custodian may consider some "improvements" - entirely to their own taste, choice and budget:
Canvas Tilt - The existing canvas is in usable condition and has lovely patina - but a new canvas would give a very fresh look (£329)
Front seats - These have been upgraded to deluxe black vinyl - a set of period reproduction "Elephant hide" would take the interior to a new level (£342)
Rear seats - none currently fitted, but many of our clients will request these to use as occasional seats for extra passengers (2 x rear bench £139 - Black vinyl, £264 - "Elephant hide")
Rear Lap belts - None currently fitted - set of 4 (£220)
All of the above options are "in stock" and can be quickly and easily added to the Land Rover fit your requirements.
Having driven the Land Rover today, I can report that it is an absolute pleasure to drive, and attracts a lot of attention - (Mark Griffiths).
The chassis and bulkhead are in exceptional condition and mechanically everything has the feel you would hope from such a low mileage Land Rover.
The Land Rover will be fully serviced prior to hand over, have a full 12m MOT, and free road tax will be arranged on behalf of the new owner
Don't forget, a £500 holding deposit will secure any of our Land Rovers - please ask for details.

1963 109" Series IIA Land Rover

Sellers Comments - I'm moving house end January and very reluctantly have to sell my faithful 1963 LWB IIA. Fitted with a disco 200di (no turbo) used daily and has been very reliable. MOT till May 22nd 2016. Good tilt, new tyres. Have owned her for just over 5 years and during that time have fitted new front springs, starter motor and had the brakes overhauled. Previous owner (local to me) advised that a new chassis and new wiring had been fitted. This is NOT a restored poser, it is a working Landy with patina to match!! Probably could do with tidying up I guess or restored if you're that way inclined. Front prop shaft UJ needs to be replaced (I have a new one ready to fit and might find the time do it), and the speedo stopped working last week......either the cable or speedo drive I suspect. Chassis is good, bulkhead is not - corrosion - see pictures Inspection before buying recommended Situated in the Scottish Borders near Newcastleton Advertised elsewhere

1963 LAND ROVER 88" Series IIA- 4 CYL GREEN TDI - FAMILY OWNED FROM NEW!

Sellers Comments - 1963 Land Rover Series IIA 88' (FREE ROAD TAX) Rare family owned from new, (The family owned Cotswold Land Rover). Showing 4 Owners on V5 with the vehicle changing hands within the family. With the previous owner still being Cotswold Land Rover. This Vehicle was subject to a full restoration in the late 80's, With some Series 3 Upgrade parts fitted including Wings, Bulkhead, Dash & Instrument Cluster. This year it has had a new refurbished 1989 2.5 TDi 85 HP short engine fitted with new crank & pistons. Also has had new brake lines etc. Engine & gearbox are both superb in great working order. Nice solid vehicle. I have also got 4 brand new Shocks & Parabolic springs here to be fitted as is leaning to one side. (included in sale) The boot is also full of new spare parts etc. Mileage is showing 10k Miles, as speedo was changed when the series 3 dash was fitted. I have 13 Previous mot's back to mid 80's and believe the correct mileage to be between 65k-75k miles. Current MOT Valid till end Nov 15. but there's no reason it wont go straight through a new one with the amount of money spent on it this year. Great Solid investment & workhorse values will only rise and even more next year after production of the defender stops next month.

1963 Land Rover Series 2a - Ambulance

For sale we have a 1963 ex military marshall land rover ambulance in fantastic condition , is showing just 41000 miles which is believed be genuine from the condition, starts on the button every time , runs and drives like a dream , has recently had a full brake overhaul , fuel tank sender units (for both tanks , switchover works fine ) and a new fuel pump.

This vehicle has had a "sympathetic" camper conversion , it is fitted with a fully functional sink with fresh and waste water tanks , 240v hookup , 12v leisure battery , 2 beds , electric cool box and lighting so you can take it to shows and sleep in it quite comfortably , ideal utility vehicle.

Everything works as it should no rot , from what i can see it has never been welded either , no leaks , smoke , rattles , bangs or clonks.

a question i commonly get asked is about its military history and unfortunately i do not know. genuine reason for sale

Land Rover Series 2 Rare 1st Battalion R.A.S.C - reg 1963. Long mot. Low miles

Sellers Comments - Land Rover Series 2 first registered 05/11/1963.
This is a very rare and genuine ROYAL ARMY SERVICE CORPS Land Rover. They were responsible for keeping the British Army supplied with all its provisions barring weaponry.
Nice and straight along the sides as you can clearly see. This has been well loved and looked after. Only 6 owners from new.
FULL 12 MONTHS MOT WITH NO ADVISORIES.. It is very solid and chassis is very good and clean. EMISSIONS VERY CLEAN AS WELL.
Mileage is showing as 77,100 and I have no doubt that this is genuine. I have a few old mots in the history file, with the oldest one from 1981 showing mileage of 64,000.
Diesel engine starts on the button after preheating by pushing the button.
Runs, drives and stops as it should. You won't break any speed records with the old gal......never designed to do that!

Just a really well looked after early Series 2.

Genuine "Barn Find" 1963 Classic Land Rover Series 2 Truck Cab - For Sale £5495

original condition with a solid bulkhead and chassis for year - Registration 66 GXE - Valued at £1400

Sellers Comments
I would like this real gem, an original barn find, from a farm in Somerset to go to a club member, or enthusiast. It is in original condition with a solid bulkhead and chassis for year. Lovely patina and paintwork. It was MOT'd back in March. It shows 74,000 miles, believed to be genuine with some old mots, and the engine is strong and drives well. It does not burn any oil or smoke so backs that up. It also starts on the button. A nice transferable number 66 GXE comes with the vehicle at the asking price (number valued at £1,400). However if you are on a limited budget, and do not require the number, I am happy to keep the number and reduce the asking price accordingly. It will need new door tops as they are in need of replacement (new glazed ones are only £100 for two). I am trying to source a pair of aged replacements though. The brake lights at the back are also odd, the foot wheels have been repaired at some stage, not the best job in the world, but are OK and are solid. It has one of the original seats, but they are not in great condition. Would benefit from a new set really. I drove the Land Rover back from Somerset myself, 208 miles without a problem and no need for the big yellow taxi. Sold as a nice re-commissioning project. The Land Rover can be viewed in Kent from Monday 8th June (by appointment only).  sensible offers near the £5,495 asking price considered or £3,995 without the 66 GXE registration number. A great investment with classic Land Rover prices rising fast. Better than money in the bank. The Land Rover is advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to the end the listing earlier. £300 deposit within 24 hours of winning bid.

Land Rover Series 2 - 1963 - Petrol - 109 Long Bonnet

Land Rover Series 2 - 1963 - Petrol - 109 Long Bonnet
Land rover series 2 109 long bonnet.  Mot till May 16   tax exempt. This land rover has had the bulkhead moved back the length of the front doors, and the rear doors of a station wagon fitted with the tops removed. The chassis has been stripped down, welded where required (rear spring hanger area), painted with rust killer, red oxide then black synthetic paint. The bulkhead was shot blasted, welded where required (new foot wells and other areas) and then red oxide and synthetic top coat. All the suspension bushes were replaced with poly bushes, new brake shoes and wheel cylinders (the axles are from a straight 6 109). New flexi hoses and copper brake pipes throughout. The steering wheel has been refurbished. Wheels were shot blasted and sprayed black. 4 very good general grabber tyres and a different spare. The bonnet was fabricated using 2 bonnets and some extra aluminium and the front wings elongated. The drag link for the steering was manufactured by a local engineering firm to cater for the extra length required. There is only one wiper motor fitted, there is another one with the vehicle but it is not working. All new lights, including halogen headlights. It has had the points removed and an electronic system fitted with a new coil from the Distributor Doctor, and an electric fuel pump. The engine is a rover v8 high compression from a rover P5B. The gear box is an lt95 . A new clutch pressure, friction plate and release bearing were fitted.  The bikini hood is new, the speedo doesnt work, there is a cable but i hadn't figured out how to  attache it to the back of the speedo. The body is painted with synthetic paint which has been flatted back lightly to give a mat finish. I finished it last year and took my son to his prom night in it with his mates, then my niece to her wedding, and have hardly used it since, despite all the work that's gone into it I have decided to sell. There is more that could be done or you could just use it like it is. Viewing welcome, I have put a reserve on and will let the auction run. 07977 556967 Matt. Cash on collection.

ACC280A Landrover series 2a, galvanised chassis perkins 2ltr diesel

Land rover series 2a, 1963

This is used regularly and benefits from free road tax.

It is built around a galvanised chassis which is in great condition.

It has had an engine transplant using the tried and tested Perkins Prima (montego) turbo diesel, which starts and runs really well.

We have owned it a few years now and have used it for vintage shows.

MOT is due in July but has never had any issues at test before and only does very limited mileage each year.

For Sale £3850 Land Rover Series 2a 1963 - Stroud

1963 Series II/III Land Rover. Diesel 2 1/4ltr. First registered 6/2/63 and still with original Registration Number which therefore could be transferred. Tax exempt. MOT till August 2015.

It has a Series III bulkhead, bonnet, front wings, engine and gearbox. Fitted with Fairey freewheel hubs.

New springs all round and brake master cylinder before last MOT. Rear folding seats and a complete replacement one. Pillar jack, wheel brace and Series 2 bonnet

Drives very well on the new springs and with fresh brakes it is 52 years old and has never been restored so as you'd imagine it's not faultless, the guages need looking at as a few aren't working, it burns off smoke on startup suggesting the stem seals have dried, this is only on startup though, viewing highly recommended as this is a very nice land rover and these are only going up in value, selling due to lack of use and space.

Land Rover Series 2a 88, (1963)

Land Rover Series 2a 88, (1963)

Sellers Comments -

Very solid tax exempt series 2a,MOT until September 2015 and only one advisory on brake adjustment. Vehicle check Clear and cert available.
It has a series 3 bulkhead fitted, Discovery rear Diff,I also have a Disco Diff for the front that hasn't been fitted yet with prop that is included.
I only aquired recently but change of plans, its now for sale.

Previous MOTs not showing any issues with body or chassis, only visible thing I can see is where it has had chequer plate fitted in the past to front wing tops. This is a 50 year old vehicle that would make a good running resto, so be aware of this.

Remember you are bidding to buy not haggle on collection, I would like £100 deposit via paypal on winning the auction, and cash on collection within 3 days of auction ending, no show will be reported to ebay.

Viewing recommended.
