Sellers Comments - Ex Royal Ordnance Corps THIS example was one of 600 86" Land Rivers supplied under contract 6/VEH/16223 in early 1955. It left the land rover factory on 10th January 1955 and was delivered to the Ministry of Supply for use by the War Department where it was registered 63 NO 61. It was issued to the 3rd Vehicle Group Royal Army Ordnance Corps on 11th February and sent to 31st 'B' Vehicle Depot in Church Broughton, Derbyshire. As with most military vehicles, nothing is known of it's subsequent military career. It was sent to the disposal depot at Ruddington in August 1963 and was sold off at auction shortly afterwards. Purchased in an un-roadworthy state in June 2003, it was recommissioned and fettled back into rude health, retaining as much of the original army spec as possible including split rim wheels, non reflective headlight bezels and painted galvanised cappings. It now wears the livery of 267 Field Regiment, Royal Artillery Light Aid Detachment of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, a Territorial Army unit based in Worcester in the early 1960s and part of the 48th West Midlands Divison TA.
The Land Rover Defender is an off-road vehicle produced under this name by the British manufacturer, Land Rover, since 1991. However, the vehicle is the direct heir of the first Land Rover that made its debut in 1948. The first prototype was built by the British automaker in 1947 and it was designed for the army. This iconic car was improved over the years and it has been known for generations as a national treasure.

Land Rover 1955 Modified Series 1 ** Fantastic Bit Of Kit **
.Sellers Comments - This Land Rover has been modified and is running with a Daihatsu turbo diesel engine and running gear. The V5 registration document states 1955 Series 1 Land Rover, which means it is tax exempt and does not require an MOT test. This has not been modified by "Dave and his mate in the shed" (no offence Dave) but by professionals with experience in off roading. It has the fuel tank in the cabin behind the seats, a full substantial roll cage, an ignition system suitable for off roading which has switches to manually turn on and off the ignition and fuel, with a stop start button. It has high/low mid range setting that are selected for gearing, as well as the 5 regular road gears. The soft top can all be removed from the cabin very easily. There are galvanised metal plates where necessary. Everything about it has been built to be strong as an ox and everything is finished very nicely to a high standard. It is a proper piece of kit that will not disappoint. It must have cost a fortune to build, along with the initial purchase of a Series 1 Land Rover, which is not cheap. Everything on the Land Rover is in perfect working order. The mechanics are fantastic. The gear box, brakes, suspension, steering are all great and the engine doesn't burn or use any oil etc and has loads of power. There is no rot anywhere on the car and it has seen few miles since being built. The car currently sits with the odometer reading just shy of 23,000 miles, it has 10 previous owners on the V5 document and it has MOT until December 2016 with no advisories.

1955 LAND ROVER SERIES 1 V8 Special
Sellers Comments
The story behind this particular Land Rover is detailed in a 5-page feature in the October 2012 issue of Classic Land Rover Owner magazine,
Starting out in life as a bog standard 1955 Series One 86", it was long ago converted into a stripped out trials machine and was spotted languishing in a farmer's field by the late Mark Rumsey, a well known figure in the Series Land Rover world. In something of a sorry state when acquired in 2011, it was soon back in Rumsey's Tring workshop where he set about a thorough rebuild with the aim of making it a competitive trials machine once more.
It had already been fitted with a 3.5-litre Rover V8 twin carb engine and a Range Rover gearbox with Series 2 or 3 axles and was soon got running again. As the original bulkhead was in a bad way, another was fabricated using 6mm thick steel. Deciding to make it road legal and get an MOT, the vehicle was completely rewired and headlights, wipers, horn and indicators restored to working condition.
Sadly, Mark Rumsey died unexpectedly just as the project was completed and his brother invited LRO magazine to come and put it through its paces in a muddy disused quarry to sample the quality of his late-brother's work. "I'm delighted to report that this custom-made and custom-rebuilt old trialler delivers all the fun and thrills that Mark intended," said the article. "This thing claws its way over everything, through everything and up everything. It's huge fun."
It comes with a V5C, an old MOT and a copy of the LRO magazine in which it is featured , it now needs a new owner to grab it by the scruff of its neck and show it a good time on some thrilling dirty weekends.

1955 LWB Land rover pick up. Sold as a none runner as it has
been in storage for many years. Chassis is not too bad and could be welded by
any competent man with the correct skills. The bulk head would in my opinion
need to be replaced. As you can see the body is very nice and straight. The
pick up cab and the rear tub are also good. i was told that the engine is 2L
and it is the correct one for this model .It has been painted at some stage but
the log book states green. ( V5 in my name and all correct.) It will make a
great start for a very sound project that will when complete be worth a
considerable amount of money. the LWB models are very rear and sort after
looking at the side and head lights its possible they are the original lucas
ones. . The number plate has been valued at £1500 but really would be a shame
to remove it. You will need a trailer to remove it but it will run free on all
wheels . I can assist with loading. Please contact me for any more information.
I was going to restore this but unfortunately circumstances have changed so i
must part with it. Cash on collection only please. I have this advertised else
where so it may be removed at any time. Thanks for looking. If you need any
more information contact jeff on 07836 692839.

Land Rover Series 1 MOT and TAX exempt 86'' easy restoration project
Sellers Comments
Land Rover Series 1
UKT 112
1955
MOT and TAX exempt historic vehicle
V5 log book present
Chassis number 57105439
86’’ wheelbase
2.25 petrol correctly registered on V5
Transferable number plate
This is a genuine barn find that has sat under cover and not
moved since last taxed in December 2002. The last owner acquired this Series 1
on the 9/11/1986 and has remained in their barn up until being offered today.
Obviously, this Land Rover is for restoration, however, not
the normal rubbish offered with dodgy history etc. In fact, I hold the original
blue registration document alongside the current V5C and both logbooks marry
up, along with old tax discs etc.
Okay what have we got... well the chassis is in remarkable
condition and retains its original rear cross member which has one small hole
on the underside (easy repair). The main chassis rails are rot free alongside
cross members and outriggers. The only other small repair I can see is the
front cross member has a small hole, which will also be an easy repair. The
bulkhead A posts have the usual corrosion to the bottoms, and the N/S and O/S
sections just above the foot wells will need to be plated. The bulkhead overall
is in repairable condition; however it would benefit from a replacement.
At some point in the cars history a nudge bar was added
(only bolted on) and a rear bumper too. The tailgate has been removed, a sheet
of aluminium now overlays the aperture which is held in by rivets where the
galvanised body capping are. Easily remedied as the tailgate aperture and
uprights remain, meaning all that is needed is a replacement tailgate, which
would fit as original.
I have had the engine running and it sounds sweet off an
auxiliary petrol tank so not to drag up old fuel and muck from the main tank. I
have asked the previous owner how the gearbox is and she said the gears located
as they should do when it was last driven.
For 30 years, I
have worked on Land Rover Series as a panel beater/sprayer /welder, having done
various restorations in my time. I purchased this Series 1 to restore but with
clients expectations regarding their restorations I am finding less time to complete
my own projects. This is the only reason for sale and I believe this could be a
fabulous project and investment in the right hands.
As mentioned this is a restoration project so do not expect
to drive it home, the clutch is seized (although I believe it would free with
use). You will need a trailer to collect and I am available to help load etc.
In summery a genuine Series 1 86’’ retaining its period
dash, the body in good overall condition, the chassis in very good overall
condition, and paperwork present.
