Land Rover Lightweight Series 3 - 1974

Sellers Comments -

1974 Land Rover Lightweight Series 3
7 months MOT left
New passenger foot well recently welded in
New doors (top and bottom) fitted 3 years ago
New Exhaust fitted 2 years ago
2.25 Petrol engine
It has a Series 2a gearbox for some reason
Range Rover Diffs fitted
I was told when I bought it, that the drivers side petrol tank has a slight leak, but I have never tried it out to confirm
Vent panel could do with a recon, but is acceptable
Range Rover front seats (Driver and Passenger fitted, centre seat also available but not fitted atm)
Comes with both a tilt and hard top (though I have never attempted to fit the hard top)
Cat flap and full rear door available to go with the hard top
Two spare wings also available

I've owned it for about 4 years and it has been regularly serviced while in my ownership. I just spent about a grand to get it through it's last MOT including the footwell. It should be Tax free, but currently it is registered from when it left service, so that will need sorting with the DVLA to get free tax... I have a letter from Land Rover as proof of age.

The two front tires currently do not have inner tubes in them as the guy who fiited them insisted they weren't needed. They stay up for about 2 weeks. I have two new inner tubes that just need fitting. It could probably do with the drivers side foot well replacing at some point, and it could do with a lick of paint, though I always liked the 'well used' look :-) I think I have a 5l tin of Nato Green in the shed that I'll throw in... not literally :-)

Land Rover Series 3 Diesel - 1974 - £3500 ONO

Sellers Comments Land rover series 3 with fairey overdrive. Everything thing you see has been done, it was bought as a blue pick up. Since owned I've put a (quiet) overdrive in, had the starter motor / solenoid reconditioned, bought a new truck battery, gave it on oil change, bled the breaks and gave the chassis a few coats of underseal. The interior has brand new front and rear seats and brackets, new cord carpet with sound proof underlay everywhere, made some door panels and gave the rear door a new lock. The exterior has obviously been painted by myself and by hand, I've fitted a winch, tow balls, bumperettes, chequer plate, side steps, towing rope, trench spade, sledge hammer, axe and 2 jerry cans and much more. Bad points are: the MOT ran out last month, the right indicator doesn't flash, the rear left shock absorber has started to perish and there's a small hole in the bulkhead near the drivers door. there's a lot of rusty old projects going for nearly the same price as I put it up for so I've knocked the price up. This land rover starts and drives and doesn't need any work. All offers will be taken into consideration. Thanks for looking. Located in pontefract west Yorkshire and my number

Land Rover Lightweight SIII - 1974

Sellers Comments - For sale, my Land Rover Lightweight Series III. I've owned it for 20 years. The actual vehicle was built in January 1974 (I recently got a Heritage Certificate as proof) and demobbed from the army in 1983. The owner at that time give it the look it has now although I added forward-facing rear seats and a Lightweight grille. It has twin tanks and a Kenlowe fan. I have MOTs going back to the very first one in 1983 so you can check mileage. I also have receipts for jobs/service going back to 1994. I haven't used the vehicle for aggressive off-roading, just the occasional poodling around gentle runs on off-road courses at various Land Rover shows. The reason why I'm selling is that I'm simply not using it enough and it needs to go to somebody who will. It passed its MOT a couple of weeks ago with an advisory for a slight leak on nearside rear hub seal. It could do with a decent service and some TLC. Please bear in mind this a 42-year-old Land Rover! Vehicle is in Clapham, SW London.

Landrover Series 3 SWB 88" Tax Exempt 1974 Hardtop Land Rover

1974 Series 3 Landrover 88" Hardtop which is now (we believe) tax exempt, it is currently SORN, and he has not used it for a couple of years.i
Just been mot'd (17 July 2017 expiry).

It starts no problem (even on the hand crank!) & runs fine, It drives like any landrover of 42 years old, complete with the obligatory oil drips and rattles. It does require some TLC, it is what it is!!

He bought it with the intention of refurbishing it, but a house purchase put paid to that & so he has regrettably decided to sell it.

It has 5 new tyres
New Rocky Mountain Parabolic springs & shocks all round
The door tops have been replaced with galvanised ones by the previous owner, who also told me that the engine was replaced with a reconditioned  ex military one after an oil pump failure.
The roof over the cab has a sun roof.
It does have some rust and the doors / windscreen leak a bit
The door cards have been replaced with ali chequer plate
The front has a defender grill & bonnet fitted.
The bulk head requires some repairs
He bought this nearly 3 years ago with the intention of stripping it down & renovating it, but as it hasnt happened, the space is needed & it has to go.

He has many spares for it including a bulkhead, roof, axles, wings etc which he bought when he was keen to do it up, these will be advertised separately and are not included in this sale,

Winning bidder to collect from Eastbourne within 7 days of the end of the auction
A £200 deposit required by paypal within 24 hours of the auction end, and the balance in cash on collection.
It is advertised locally, and we reserve the right to withdraw it from this auction

1974 LAND ROVER SERIES 3, 88", 2.25 4Cyl Petrol (Historic - Tax exempt)

Selling my very original and tax exempt 1974 Series 3 Land Rover 2.25 Petrol 88" with hardtop, a particularly honest & unmolested vehicle which is standard apart from the modular wheels & tyres. If you like genuine patina then you will definitely like this, still wearing its original paint and panels with the minor scuffs, marks, fading (see bonnet & n/s front wing) and dents you'd expect after 42 years of use. Mot'd in January 2016 it has a good solid chassis but is not without faults - one corner brace is missing & a couple of holes are visible where the fuel tank mounts bolt on. Detailed inspection might find other areas of weakness but it seems good and solid to me. There is a very small hole on the bulkhead below the passenger lower door hinge (see pics) but the rest is good and solid. I would say this drives pretty well for a Series and is great fun, to me at least... It goes in a straight line without too much play at the wheel, did stop OK for what it is (an early S3 so 10" brakes and no servo) after I replaced the linings all round, plus 2 new front wheel cylinders and lines BUT the pedal is requiring a pump or two again so it does need a new master cylinder. The engine performs fine and the last owner fitted a new Zenith 36 IV carburettor which might still benefit from a touch more fine-tuning, but it starts reliably and runs well when warmed up. There is also a recent new fuel pump. Goes into & out of 4WD as it should & the gearbox works well.

Land rover Series 3 1974

Sellers Comments Hi welcome to the listing of my land rover series 3 88inc. I have had this land rover since December 2014. The previous owner used this to go around his farm and as you can see it has a hatch cut out of the roof. It also has 4 spotlights on a light bar, all working, led light in the rear for night time use and a spot light at the back all working. 2 tow hitches front and rear and with all electrics working fine. It has bench seats in the back with seatbelts they can also be folded up, so you could carry 7 people if needed. Cb radio, the tyres are all good with plenty of tread left on them with modular wheels (235 85 R16). It also has chequer plating, a steering guard fitted, and over drive. The previous owner fitted the following new parts. Full exhaust, fuel pump and bushes on the front and back. I have replaced the fuel tank and sender, both door tops, had a reconditioned steer box fitted, replaced the steering damper and one new front wheel bearing. I have changed all the oils and wax oiled the underside. There is some rust coming through on the bulkhead below the windscreen and a few dents due to age. It is painted army green. It has a 2286 petrol engine stamped preserved on the block, and the mileage is 18550. It starts first time; runs just like a land rover should do. The steering is typical of a 40 year old land rover it has been improved since the service exchange steering box has been fitted. The MOT expires on the 2nd October 2015. It is now road tax free
