Sellers Comments - This is my very genuine 1960 Land Rover Series 2 SWB 88inch 2.25 litre petrol engine. Nice and straight. Starts runs and drives very well. Still retains the original push bottom start. Engine very clean and runs well. No horrible smoke to report. Drives through all the gears nicely and stops in a straight line so all brakes working well. Mot has just been passed and runs until 9th October 2017. Passed with no advisories. Very decent canvas top fitted with no rips or holes. Bulkhead is in superb shape. Chassis is in very good shape and still on the original one. Footwells are tidy. Body panels are all straight. The only area that needs tidying is where it has just had a repair at the bottom of the O/S/F door pillar for the mot. This is clearly shown in my last picture. Original engine and gearbox. Mileage showing as 96,870 miles . First registered on 08/08/1960. Newly fitted 3 black front seats. Has 2 very decent black bench seats in rear. So can seat 7. THIS IS A VERY TIDY EXAMPLE OF THE RARE SERIES 2 model.......THIS IS NOT A 2A. Any questions or to view please email me.
The Land Rover Defender is an off-road vehicle produced under this name by the British manufacturer, Land Rover, since 1991. However, the vehicle is the direct heir of the first Land Rover that made its debut in 1948. The first prototype was built by the British automaker in 1947 and it was designed for the army. This iconic car was improved over the years and it has been known for generations as a national treasure.

1960 Series 2 Land Rover 2.25 Diesel
Sellers Comments - A mechanically sound Series 2 Landy that I have had for 2 years but which I simply don't have the time to drive, cherish or complete the restoration of. An expensive divorce and starting a new business mean that I no longer have the space in my life for such a beautiful old girl.

1960 Series 2 Land Rover 2.5 Diesel 4X4 Tax Exempt Green SWB 88” - For Sale - £2500 ONO
1960 Series 2 Land Rover 2.5 Diesel 4X4 Tax Exempt Green SWB 88” Chassis No 141002880 30+MPG
She has a 2.5 15J diesel engine which is consistent and has done long trips faultlessly and reliably, I have had a good 34MPG out of it although it is no racing car! I have been on trips abroad with her, I am happy & comfortable with the performance and the quirks of the engine however don’t expect extreme performance, she will reliably chug along all day through many difficult conditions and as I have found out she is very, very capable in slippery, muddy, steep places. I joined a Land Rover Club and was taken around a short course by a member to demonstrate it’s off road ability, it went amazingly and the old fashioned ‘narrow’ off road tyres give a lot of traction! That was the only time it has been ‘off-roading’ in my ownership. She has that classic look and is in broadly original condition apart from the engine as mentioned and I think the front brakes which are from a V8, so it stops well relatively compared to original period brakes. The engine does smoke on start up like most old Land Rovers, but clears in use and does not use oil more than it should, it is an old diesel after all and not like the modern diesels of today, yes you will need to glow the plugs before start up! It is very cheap to run after all and built for work rather than speed!
It has new front brake cylinders and front shoes, and rubber brake connection hoses all round however she will need bleeding to finish. She ran well when she was on the road however she is going to benefit from some restoration work to get through an MOT, she needs a new rear cross member and new front dumb irons or patching by a competent welder. If I was keeping her then I would put a new galvanised chassis on for the long term and maybe give her more of a restoration at the same time, she needs a good clean and if the new owner wanted then you could give her a fresh coat of paint. Like any old car it has its quirks but that is to be expected for a car of this age. The bulkhead is good to my knowledge, please come and inspect her for yourself. Also has large Smiths heater and nice big Land Rover mud flaps, it has the early series razor edge bonnet and large bonnet hinges & early air vents with early screw controls. The cab is pretty original inside.
It would make a good project to have a fun car for summer, it was great fun with the top off and so useful for putting dogs or logs in etc. It will come with a full length hard top, door tops and possibly a good set of tyres as the ones in the picture are now on a different vehicle. If it sells for the ‘buy it now’ price then it shall come with a spare set of tyres I have, the same as in the pictures which are a ‘Deestone Extra Traction’ type tread pattern though the actual make may vary. There is also a tow hitch that comes with it for the ‘buy it now’ price.
Any questions please ask, I am happy to show people around the vehicle by arrangement, she is in a friends dry storage at the moment. I have tried to list all of its points but I may have missed something so please come and inspect the vehicle yourself so that you can have a good look around and be happy with the work that needs doing etc. It will need to be put on a trailer to take away, or I can deliver locally by arrangement.

Land Rover Series 2 1960 109" RAF ACRT Airfield Crash Rescue Tender
Sellers Comments - The RAF ordered a number of these from a company called Foamite based at Feltham in Middlesex and the RAF registration numbers ran from 39AA00 - 39AA73 39AA32 is chassis number 151100245, built 10.10.60, despatched 22.11.60 to RAF ATCHAM. It was received from Foamite (after conversion) on 08.01.62, and first issued 29.01.62 to Bomber Command. It went to RAF Cottesmore on 21.01.74. It has a large amount of the correct fire equipment still with it including the rare floodlight and search light. It has two powder containers and a portable fire extinguisher. There are 4 hoses and stowage racks. This will be a great Land Rover to take to shows as you will probably have the only one! The chassis is original and still has the chassis number on the front dumb iron.It is all very solid and needs minimal welding in small areas. The bulkhead is very solid and will need some welding to the original footwells.. The 2.25 petrol engine turns over but I have not had it running as the original radiator is out at present. Will need brakes recommissioning and a new exhaust as it has not been on the road for many years. You could have this back on the road after a light restoration or do the full monty and have a very valuable rare Land Rover. It has never been road registered but this will be easy to do through the Land Rover Series 2 club.

LAND ROVER SWB 88" 2 1/4 petrol 1960 tax exempt
Sellers Comments - Hi, here I have my beloved Landrover for sale with great regret, but house move forces sale. It is a series 2 with probably more series 3 than 2 bits on it. I have started to convert it to coil sprung hence the rear is coil and the front is still untouched leaf spring, it`s been an ongoing project for a few years but I just don`t have time to finish. I was going to put both the defender axes on with the coil springs giving it disc brakes all round and a slightly higher ratio in the diffs for better fuel consumption and cruising. From the seat position to the rear all the welding has been done and a defender axel fitted I do have the front defender axel that will go with the sale, the front is totally untouched and does need welding to either finish the conversion I started or just to get it back on the road. The rear leaf spring hangers are still there so to convert the rear back to leaf sprung would only mean bolting a standard rear axel on and cutting of the coil spring locaters. Only half the Landrover has been painted (see pics) the only parts missing as far as I`m aware are the seat`s (any car seat can be made to fit) and the standard rear axel and leaf springs if you are to convert it back to leaf spring. One rear side window is broken/cracked but I do have it. It has been stood for a number of years but never fail`s to start. It does drive only with the front axel as I haven`t connected the rear propshaft up yet. I do have a new fuel tank that goes with the sale. This will need to be trailered away. I have the full log book/V5 in my name.

1960 LAND ROVER 109 Truck Cab. Series 2. Petrol 2.25
Sellers Comments - Was used as a garage breakdown truck years ago. It's been used in recent years for collecting fire wood, shingle, building materials, going to the dump, towing etc. Never had any serious problems with the Land Rover. Paintwork not 100%, scratches, flaking paint on all panels, seats are ripped too! Drives ok, first gear a bit noisy and could do with a tune up but runs and drives ok. 10 months MOT, Tax exempt

Land Rover was registered on 22nd November 1960.
Tax exempt
Chassis number 151100273 making it the 273rd one made in the 1961 model year.
The engine is amazingly the original and is 1511 numbered as would be expected.
A new MOT has been obtained and it drives very well for a Series 2!
Good solid bulkhead, has had some work to footwells over the years.
Good solid chassis that as you would expect has been repaired to a good standard in a number of places over the years.
The brakes are good and the correct 750-16 tyres are as new.
The engine starts on the button and pulls well.
The gearbox selects well and does not jump of gear as some do!
Free wheeling hubs are fitted for better economy.
Nice and correct inside with the original Lucas wiper motors present and working and the original instruments in the dashboard.
Has been fitted with an alternator for better charging.
The only thing not working is the fuel guage.
Great fun workhorse ready to use and improve over time if you wish.
