Land Rover series 3 + Rice Horse Box 1971 Landrover mot/tax exempt and Classic rice HorseBox

Sellers Comments -
For Sale here is my Landrover series 3 1971 Tax-exempt ad Mot exempt from 1st may classic insurance was £80 for the year.
She is in general very good order for her age with a few dints the chassis has had some welding for the last mot but is all good now have many receipts for work carried out ie new head (unleaded) pre mot work shocks and 4 new tyres. Excellent engine and drives as you would expect an early series 3 would.

With this is a classic Rice horse box not bad condition for age new lights and mudguards. Will require some work to complete but is safe and tows very well. Dont think the brake works and will need some welding to front door brackets not a huge amount to do. Great for Conversion along with the Landy would look great.

Land Rover 1971 Series 2A LPG Petrol Tax Exempt with Sankey Trailer Full MOT

Sellers Comments - Series 2A Land Rover, with dual fuel capability. 109" 4x4 LWB. Manufactured in 1971, it is now 46 years old and still going strong. Everything works as it should. It is used mainly for the occasional big shop, trip down the beach, the odd show, or just mooching around with the kids, because they love it with the top down, or just opened up. Everything is good, bulkhead, chassis, it's been welded here and there, there is some aluminium corrosion, it has a dent in the rear o/s, and bears the scars of a 46 year old, weeps a bit of oil, but nothing to worry about between services, but most endearingly, has not yet failed an MOT. It has had the odd advisory over the years, but they are always dealt with before the next MOT. It has manual locking front hubs, overdrive, and a hand throttle, should you wish to add a power take off. I have owned it now for 14 years and it has NEVER let me down. It had 44 something, thousand miles on the clock when I bought it, which I have no idea was genuine or not. Now it has nearly 88,000. It is bouncy, rattly, draughty, leaky, smelly, slow, scruffy, all in, it is just a posh tractor but I love it. In my view, the best 4x4 by far. I now though, have to part with it, for something more sleek, and kinder to my old bones. When I bought it, it had just had some new foot wells fitted, which I still haven't got round to painting. I still have the paint though. It also had an unleaded cylinder head fitted too and LPG. It has slightly wider than stock, Wella wheels, with good tyres. Last year, soft ride springs were fitted all round, which are anything but soft, unless it is loaded. Drive over a Cherry pip at speed and you will hit your head on the roof. I am sure they will soften with time. I also replaced the full canvas top, with a Dutch Military, rubberised canvas one. They last twice as long as the regular canvas version, for the same money, if you can find one. It comes with the truck cab too, and a 3 1/4 canvas to go with it, which I some times fit in the winter months, if it gets cold. Or you can just take the lot off, fold the screen onto the bonnet, and enjoy the lovely hot summer days with the wind and the bugs in your face. No surprise the farmers loved this pick up, you can't do that with a Nissan, or similar, can you. Also included, are the 2 seats where the gas tank is now, it was a 7 seater once. There is also a spare tail gate, with a pick and shovel attached, should you want to go to any of the shows, or off roading. Also included is a brass, ex military, radio mast, hand pump and fittings, should you like to spend months in the wilds, and you get a puncture. There are some door rubbers too, should you wish to fit them. Included in the sale is a scruffy, but perfectly usable, very sturdy, no rot, Sankey Trailer, to load all your camping gear, dump the garden rubbish down the tip, etc. I have a few other spares too. New brake shoes and cylinders, glass, in case the screen goes, alternator and starter motor, knackered, but ready for nipping down to autoparts, for that recon exchange when you suspect a failure, and more I can not remember. I have all the MOT tickets. Etc etc. I do recommend you view the vehicle prior to bidding, for your own peace of mind. To arrange a viewing, I can be contacted on, 07732 771207. 18.00 to 06.00 is good, as I work a night shift at the moment. So, you are bidding for a healthy Land Rover package. Happy bidding. I have also advertised locally so will cancel this auction if it sells.

LANDROVER SERIES 2A 1971 PRIMA PERKINS TURBO DIESEL CONVERSION TAX EXEMPT

Sellers Comments - Here is my 1971 series 2a registered on the 1/1/71 This 46 year old machine is in very good condition for her age. She's had a few modifications to make every day life that little bit easier Was converted from a 2.25 petrol to a 2.0 turbo diesel intercooled prima Perkins out of a Austin mongeato still on the original 4 speed box. The engine is very strong, plenty of torque, pulls like a train. Quite good on fuel too Which is a bonus Electric cooling fans. Rock sliders It has disc break conversion front & rear off a defender. With modular steel wheels & all train terrain tyres. 3 point seat beats & audi full length seats. Shes got a inch body lift, steering/sump guard & exhaust guard The clocks are showing no 29.000 miles, she hits 70mph no problem if your brave enough. All 4x4, diff lock, hi & low box works as it should. Chequer wing top & floors through out Iso switches Keep in mind you are coming to view a 46 year old vehicle !! She is not brand new she has been welded in the past but over all solid. Will want a small patch on in the distant future on passenger floor as expected. Has gauges for everything inside some are plumbed in some arnt. She has MOT till November, no advisories I would take this vehicle anywhere it is as reliable as a house. Never fails. Every man must own one at some point A classic vehicle that is only going to go up in value. Very reluctant sale

Sellers Comments - Starts and drives , has had new rear x member fitted , rest of chassis in reasonable order but may require a little bit of welding here and there . Bulkhead is poor and vent panel also poor . I have its army history and apart from the hard top is pretty much standard , it is as you can see in the pics , in need of restoration , brakes are binding but it does move under its own steam . Its a nice early series 3 , ideal winter project for someone .

Land Rover Series 2a 1971 SPARES /REPAIRS *RUNNER* , TAX FREE

Sellers Comments - 1971 Series 2A (I think) short wheel base land rover. This land rover has been owned by my brother and father for approximately 20 years. It came as a very tidy light blue petrol truck cab and was modified to what you can see in the pictures. It is fitted with a 2.5na diesel from a 110, series 3 gearbox (I think), 110 windscreen, door tops and modified roof. It had a new wiring loom and various other parts at the time. It was also brush painted green, had the fuel tank installed in the tub and a roll cage and bull bars fitted. It never made it back on the road and has been lurking around my fathers farm since - it has a few battle scars, the brakes are awfull, the clutch is not operational (needs bleeding I think), the rear springs and exhaust are shot, the engine needs a lot of cranking to start but runs fine (I think this is a timing / glow plug issue) It does however have a very good chassis and bulkhead and we have the V5 for it. The land rover is a project vehicle and requires trailered away. Being a land rover it is not beyond restoration and would be a good project for someone or could donate it's good chassis, bulkhead and tax free registration to your project

1971 Series IIa Petrol / LPG SWB Hard top Land Rover - For Sale £3750

Sellers Comments - A 1971 late model SWB Series IIa Land Rover with Maltese Cross front panel and headlights in the wings. Apart from the LPG conversion with certification from an UKLPG certificated installer, twin LPG tanks mounted on wheel arches in the rear tub, the vehicle is in original and unmolested condition. No checker plate, no sun roofs cut into the hard top roof, or CB aerials. The vehicle is just as it should be even down to having it's original starting handle clipped behind the front seats. The vehicle has been very well maintained and has clearly had good money spent on it over the years. It has even had a professional respray. A previous owner was a Doctor. The odometer reads 31,000 miles and that could possibly be genuine as previous MOTs show it has covered less than 5,000 miles in the previous ten years. It's relative lack of use hid a problem that it had. No oil in the front axle casing. I bought it last year in Walton on Thames and drove it back home to the Wirral. I got as far as near Banbury on the M40 when the front axle locked up ,their was an enormous crash, and the front differential disintegrated. It clearly had not been a problem to anybody driving it before me as they had not driven it far enough for it to be an issue. I managed to nurse it home with difficulty as did not have the tools to hand to remove the front prop shaft. Because I had driven it that way I did not want to just change the diff as little bits of metal could have worked their way into other parts of the axle casing. I decided the thing to do was to completely rebuild the axle, that is just to keep the axle casing and to replace everything else. I sourced a replacement Series IIa front axle which came from an abandoned restoration project . The axle had been rebuilt with new swivels etc but never fitted to the vehicle. I intended for the sake of originality to rebuild the original axle with the bits from the other rather than to just swap the axles which would have been much easier. Unfortunately I then through no fault of my own lost my storage and place to work on it so I have been using it with the front prop shaft removed as a two wheel drive vehicle. It works very well that way and for general road driving works better that way than it would with the front prop shaft in place. It passed an MOT that way too. I have not been well recently and have decide to pass it on to someone else. The replacement front axle with new swivels will be supplied with the vehicle and the the new owner could rebuild the axle as I intended or could just swap the axles which would not take more than a couple of hours. The horse box is not included in the sale but the galvanised roof rack is if the purchaser would like it. I insist on any prospective purchaser coming to see and test the vehicle for themselves. Their is no warranty and no returns. Payment by cash on collection please. Please telephone to make an appointment to view. 07715364789.

1971 Tax Free SWB Series LAND ROVER 88" Diesel Truck Cab Overdrive Long MOT

Sellers Comments - For sale my SWB 1971 Road Tax free land rover with overdrive and long MOT. Its a truck cab at the moment (half height back door) which means in an hour you can unbolt the roof and door tops and you've got a full convertible. She has had 4 brand new expensive road biased tyres fitted at the last MOT (over £400 alone). Freewheeling hubs. The old girl has obviously had a new replacement chassis at some stage as you can see from the underside photos. The front spring hangers have had some welding more recently and in an ideal world although they are solid I'd be inclined to get them replaced as new ones are only around £85 a pair and it would leave the underside in very good order. The rear crossmember and all the nasty places that these can go is in very good order (again see the pics). The car starts and drives well for one of these (I've had 5 or 6 and this is a very good one). The only reason for sale is I'm having a clear out to spend on new roof and getting my other Landy back on the road (which won't be for sale!!). The bulkhead is in very sound order as are the footwells. As is often the case the much thinner metal area on the inside of the bulkhead has had a little rust in the area around the dash/vents and could do with a coat of hammerite to keep it from progressing. There is no radio other than the period Roberts Radio which I'd guess has been used in the car since new- only mono and LW/MW from its little speaker I'm afraid but at least you can pick up the shipping forecast and the cricket. So, if you know what you are looking at here these old girls and going through the roof in value at the moment with Landrover stopping production of the Defenders. Its dead cheap motoring with spares very cheap and easily found. The road tax is obviously free. I'm 48, live in South West London and she costs me less than £90 a year to insure with Adrian Flux on a limited 3,000 miles PA policy. With the overdrive in and cruising at 45mph it will happily do 30mpg being the diesel (the petrol ones while a little smoother do well to get over 20mpg in my experience. She's not new, she's 45 years old. Some of the paintwork is original, a lot has been repainted over the years and there are areas which could do with new paint now (like the inside of the doors). She won't win any concourse prizes but she gets a load of smiles from passers by and you'll be grinning as you potter around too. Cash sale (or half of the money goes to my ex) from Surbiton in Surrey. I'm letting the auction run unless you have very deep pockets. The lucky buyer will need to arrange collection from my house within 7 days from close of the auction having transfered over £100 deposit within an hour of the sale end to prove you are genuine.
