Land Rover Series 2a - 1969 Tax Exempt

969 Tax Exempt Series 2a Land Rover as a non-runner. It was a working vehicle up until 2012 where it unfortunately dropped a rod and made a hole in the block. It currently has the 2 1/4 Petrol Engine so a diesel upgrade might be the way to go. I had every intention of restoring it but I no longer have the time which is a real shame and it has been parked up since 2012. It passed the last MOT after a couple of small things needed correcting. I recall one of the front shocks needing changing, one of the brakes was a bit sticky and it needed a new sidelight lense. Might have been a couple of more small other things, certainly no welding or such like. Also worth mentioning that I have changed the 5 or 6 ball joints on the steering and this did help the handling. Being completely honest this is not a showroom model and definitely needs some TLC, but could be restored or just made road worthy again. I have had a crawl underneath and cant see and areas that need attention, however don’t hold me to that. It does seem pretty solid overall and there has clearly been work carried out on it before. Please bear in mind this is nearly a 50 year old vehicle that has worked most of its life and It will not handle like a modern Defender! I have tried to be as honest as I can and I the pictures give a good representation of its condition. Before it was parked up it was working but would benefit from some attention. I have the V5 Document in my name and possession. Due to relocating I ideally need this collected by the 19/04/2016. I am based just near Cardiff and would suggest a trailer would be needed to collect. I cannot offer any delivery services. Not shown in the pictures is another wheel/tyre and the seats that it come with when I purchased it. I will but these in the back ready for you. Sellers Comments

Land Rover Series 2A Tax Exempt

Sellers Comments - This is a series 2A Landy SWB with a seated rear compartment. She starts readily and runs well. The clutch is a little sharp, but good. There is a couple of cracks in the offside window of the canopy, but they have been there a while. This is a good looking vehicle with 'ANIMAL' transfers on the sides and back. The seats in the front and back are in good condition, having been replaced at some point. I am selling due to not finding enough time to make use of it. This Landy has off road tyres with good treads.

TAX EXEMPT LANDROVER SERIES 111 / 3 1974 , BARN FIND RESTORED SERIES 111 CHASSIE

Sellers Comments.
The engine and gearbox are still in the landy and are complete, looks like someone had started to rub down the bodywork to start a restoration but that's as far as it got.
It's sold as seen so have a good look at the photos, or better still come and have a look, there is a number plate with it, also it is on the DVLA computer registered as 1974, therefore now tax exempt. There is no v5 or any keys with the landrover.

1968 Landrover Series IIA Tax Exempt Diesel

Tax exempt 1968 Landrover Series IIA fitted with 2.5ltr LDV diesel engine, recently replaced clutch and gearbox & Fairey overdrive fitted. MOT until December 2015. Pickup cab, spare wheel & loads of spare parts. I've had my Landy for five years and used it as a fantastic workhorse on our market garden. Starts on the button every time, HID headlights & sidelights, sound chassis with no rust, went through last MOT with no advisories. MP3 Sound system included. It is a working vehicle with a few dings on the bodywork but nothing that can't be improved with a fresh lick of paint. Would make a hardy & reliable ready-to-go work vehicle, or a fine project for improvement. I've got a reserve as these things are holding their value & I know what its worth.

Series Three (3) Lightweight 88" Landrover 1966 Air Portable - TAX EXEMPT £1 Starting bid, No buy it now, Will run to the end

Good bits

Rare early model and tax exempt ( will still need road tax but it is free)

A lot of fun, especially in the summer with the roof off.

V5 certificate in place

The engine was replaced with a great reconditioned one about 6 years ago and this has not done many miles at all with us since. Has always run really well.

Great gear box (well as good as you get with a series Landy!) Has always changed through the gears nicely. High and low ratio work well.

The chassis and wiring loom were replaced about 10 years ago and the chassis is as far as we know completely sound.

The Landrover has a  good roof rack

It has great mud tyres (road legal) that are ideal for handling tough off road conditions.

A relatively easy restoration project compared with many other examples for sale.

Not so good bits

It will not start (although we are confident this is something small)

No MOT

The clutch pedal needs attention as it is remaining down

Needs new doors

Paint work/ body work lights need a lot of attention. Has a fair few battle scars.

Speedo has not worked for years but we never needed it!

Rust (as far as we know the chassis is completely sound but there is a fair bit of rust else where.) Luckily a lot of the body work is aluminium and not affected.

Seats need replacing.

No stereo, air con, heater or any other luxuries.

Tax Exempt Landrover - Location Hayes - 1970

Here we a have a series 2a tax exempt ( Historic vehicle) This vehicle has been off the road for a couple of years (I am now the proud owner of a 2 year old boy!!!!) I do  not have the time to sort it out. The engine turns over but does not start all the electrics work and the wheels turn and gearbox seems to still work the brakes seem to work as well. The bulkhead and chassis are in good condition for the age. There have been some repairs. I took the roof off and it is not bolted back on. It will need to be towed or trailered  away.  This is a 40 year old car that has been standing for a couple of years so dont expect a prime car. Please view before you commit to buy. Cash on collection. Thanks Tim

1973 LAND ROVER SERIES 3, 200 Tdi ENGINE, TAX EXEMPT Great steering and brakes, powerful with 30 mpg economy

RESTORED 2006. - MOT until February 2016.

78,600 miles showing on the odometer.

200 Tdi ENGINE checked over and fitted with new cambelt.  Professionally installed into the vehicle in 2013 complete with turbocharger, intercooler, Glencoyne anti-vibration engine mounts plus an electric cooling fan.

NEW GEARBOX overhauled in 2014 at a cost of over £1100 by the recognised specialists, Midland Transmissions, to handle the extra power of the 200 Tdi.  All gears, four wheel drive and high and low ranges work as they should. Clutch overhauled with new release bearing.

This Land Rover is comfortable and quiet, and drives extremely well. It has VERY GOOD STEERING which is not heavy and does not wander, due to the correct original size 5 inch wheels being fitted with NEW AVON RANGER ALL-TERRAIN TYRES in 2015.

The BRAKES pull up strongly and in a straight line.

Structurally very sound with good bodywork, thanks to a photographic  RESTORATION in 2006.  Waxoyled and well-maintained since.  Original unmolested appearance, very attractive with black paintwork as an alternative to the usual colours.   Solid chassis, bulkhead, crossmember and floors. The bodywork is not in concours condition and has a few minor blemishes – what old Land Rover hasn’t? – but nothing at all serious.

Great cab INTERIOR with excellent deluxe front seats, inertia reel seat belts and stereo AM/FM radio cassette (that’s the white box on the dashboard in the pictures). The fuel and temperature gauges have recently stopped working (it has been suggested that this is due to the instrument resistor needing replacement, but I haven’t had time to investigate).  The nearside door mirror is cracked but serviceable & the nearside windscreen has a small chip,  but neither affect passing the MOT.

Full expensive Wright Off-Road mats and sound insulation (as used by the British Army) installed on the bulkhead, floors and seatbox (see www.wrightoffroad.com) plus an additional heavy rubber acoustic insulation mat on the rear floor.

Halogen headlamp conversion.

Replacement heater.

Electronic flasher unit.

Towbar (of course!).

Swing-away rear spare wheel carrier with cantilever action which swings automatically with the back door as it is opened.

The large and detailed HISTORY FILE includes the photographic record of the restoration, invoices for repairs and maintenance, service records and a Workshop Manual on CD.

HERITAGE CERTIFICATE from British Motor Industry Heritage Trust confirming the date of manufacture.

Regretful sale due to change of circumstances.  My family will be sad to see it go, especially my wife who loves driving it (unlike many Landy wives, which says a lot for the useability of this particular example).

This isn’t the cheapest Land Rover for sale, but it is far from being the most expensive either.  However, it is probably one of the most driveable as a result of having been fully sorted during regular use after the restoration and treated to the sensible upgrades detailed above. Early Land Rover Series 1 One 109 LWB 2.0 Diesel. Tax Exempt. Chassis Number 27! Very rare, early diesel fitted with original OHV engine

In 1957 Land Rover launched their new 2.0 over head valve (OHV) diesel engine, first fitted to the 109" chassis. This vehicle is chassis number 27 of this type, with the build finishing on 23rd August 1957. This makes this LWB series 1, one of only 153 produced in 1957. This new engine marked an important turning point in Land Rover powertrains and saw Land Rover move away from side valves to overhead valves.

Despatched from Solihull to Dorchester Land Rover dealer 'Tilleys LTD' on 28th August 1957, this Land Rover retains the original Dorset registration 'LFX 271' which will also be included in the sale.
This home market 109 inch vehicle was ordered in basic trim and is the 26th production 109 2.0 Diesel to leave the production line. The truck is chassis number 27 to account for the first prototype vehicle in 1956.

Today, LFX 271 is in fantastic condition mechanically and wears the original Bermabright bodywork with pride.
Being a working vehicle, the tailgate was swapped to a heavy duty item very early in its life and has been maintained very well indeed.
Recently the cab and truck bed have been removed and the chassis repaired where required by a Land Rover specialist. The repaired chassis was then painted and the original bodywork reattached meaning the original wear and tear remains, a desirable feature from an aesthetic viewpoint.

All the brake lines have been renewed and the brakes and handbrake are in great working order.
As a result of the remedial work, LFX 271 will be solid for many years to come while retaining it's natural patina.
Inside you will find the original Smiths heater, with the original fuel tank mounted under the seat.
Specified from new, this 109 was fitted with an optional hand controlled throttle, which is also present.

The perspex windows have recently been replaced, as have the cab floors.
The bulkhead has had repairs to make structurally sound but will need additional work on the top rail to take to a show standard.
New bulkhead vent seals have been fitted but vent opening handles will need to be reattached.

Before putting LFX 271 up for sale, local Land Rover specialists Brownchurch checked the vehicle over for mechanical gremlins and gave it the thumbs up. Gearbox, transfer box and original engine are all in great working order. The engine smokes a little until warm but once up to temperature is just fine. Being almost 60 years old, i think this is forgivable.

The rear differential will need replacement in the long term despite being ok for the mean time. These are plentiful and easy/cheap to come by and a relatively simple procedure to fit.
The car is fitted with original steel wheels and slightly larger period cross ply tyres which help with higher speed cruising.

Being Tax and MOT exempt the vehicle is able to be driven away if you wish. Despite MOT exemption this 109 has undergone an MOT less than 12 months ago to ensure it is fit to be driven on UK roads, which it passed with flying colours.

If you are into series Land Rovers you will be aware of their rough and ready nature, and lack of motorway speed. This vehicle retains this charm and is also not modified for seat belts, because of this you may wish to arrange for it to be transported long distance. I am happy to accommodate and help with any pick up arrangements you may require.

A heritage certificate is included with the vehicle which confirms it's identity and origin. Along with this is a specification build sheet and copy of the original Series 1 Land Rover sales brochure.

I had intended to make this vehicle period correct and show ready, but unfortunately a lack of time means i have to move this fantastic truck on.
This is an incredible opportunity to own a super rare version of the very sought after Series 1 Land Rover which needs very little work to make perfect. A very easy project for someone who has time to complete and once done, will be virtually unique and sure to appreciate in value as more and more people become interested in classic Land Rovers.
