Land Rover series 88"

Built for off-road use and green lanes what they're made for. (Got plenty of pictures of the build if needed).

Chassis is sold. Bulk head sold x2 new out riggers.

The truck has been shot blasted and painted in raptor paint for a hard wearing finish for off-road use.

Buzzweld primer and chassis in on used on the chassis and axles also used their cavity paint for inside of the chassis.

Been changed from leaf springs to proper springs and shocks with rear des locating cones.

Insa turbo tyres 265-75-16 on boost alloys.

30mm wheel spacers.

200 tdi engine and lt77 box.

Discovery 1 Axles.

Rear cross member sold had 2 small patches.

Side exit exhaust.

Has heavy duty tubs sliders.

Heavy duty rock sliders.

Warn 8274 winch with synthetic rope.

Warn winch tray and warn fair lead winch to be sold separate or will be keeping.

Cb radio in cab with checker plated dash.

Snorkel missing mushroom off top used 90 elbow.

Extra fan mounted to the radiator on a switch.

Raptor 4x4 curved front light bar and rear spots.

Recently serviced - all oils changed, new clutch and new water pump fitted with a new starter motor.

The truck has been used off road so will have expected wear and tear (dints/marks).

1961 Series 2 Land Rover SWB 88" **TAX EXEMPT** Galvanised chassis

Sellers Comments - 1961 Series 2 Land Rover 88" on a galvanised chassis and tax exempt. MOT 15th june 2018 The price is £3650 - so please don't message me saying you will give me £1500 for it im not in a hurry to sell it, and the longer I keep it, the more the price will go up :))) The chassis was galvanised by previous owner and at the time, they replaced it with the series 3 bulk head and soft dash. The car lived in Scotland at there holiday cottage and only done aprox 150 miles a year for the last 10 years. MOT's and Pictures to prove all this. 2 1/4 litre petrol engine with new fuel pump, plugs, points, cap, leads, rotor arm, coil he runs like a dream. A bit paint would have this car looking awesome, but I just haven't got time. there is holes underneath the bottom door hinges, I have brought a replacement panel for one side but not had time to fit. Its a proper shed to drive, so don't be expecting a showroom car, I'm sure you are aware you have to steer this car to stay in a straight line. and once you got the hang of the gears they are easy to find lol No seatbelt, no nothing if I'm honest - but every morning at the turn of the key and a bit of choke he starts. yes when it rains you get wet but just wear a coat. In the winter to keep warm don't rely on the heater to do this, it does blow out hot air but if I'm honest you get more hot air from a fart. In the summer the roof comes off and you look pretty cool driving it (writing this bit makes me not want to sell it) and it does put a smile on your face. Does come with back bench seat cushions and a box load of spares. Any questions please just ask. Serious buyers only, don't waste my time and I won't waste yours. Sellers Comments - For sale a 1961 Land rover SWB , it is fitted with a discovery 200tdi engine with out the turbo, it has an overdrive and free wheeling hubs, has you can see it has a series 3 bulkhead fitted as when I got it the original one was rotted out, at the time I could only find a series 3 one, I now have a series 2 bulkhead and more or less every thing you require to return it back , it comes with the original clocks,heater, wipers all new seals etc, The land rover is tax exempt, it has an MOT and drives really well, as far as i know no welding is required but being a old Land rover you would need to check for your self, I removed the petrol engine as it was the wrong one any way and the fuel economy was ridulus , I still have the engine if you want it, I fitted a Land rover discovery engine this is a diesel engine and the log book will need updating to show this. I never got round to this. I changed the rear diff to a range rover one this changes the gear ratios to suit the 200 TDI engine, i never got round to changing the front one so as it is at the moment you cant use the four wheel drive as the ratios are different, i do have a range rover diff for the front and the original one for the rear which will be included , I do have the turbo and Discovery radiator and inter cooler if you want them. The Land rover had new leaf springs fitted to all four corners a couple of years ago. The Land rover was fitted with an Exmoor trim canvas three years ago , I also have the old hard top if you want it. The fuel gauge works but is not acculturate, because of the change of the rear diff the speedo does not read correctly ,last year it had a new battery and brake master cylinder fitted. I would highly recommend that you come see the Land rover before bidding, it is an old vehicle with no comforts and is not to every ones cup of tea. only selling it has i am not fit enough any more to keep up the maintenance of it. It is tax exempt and only costs me £65 a year for the insurance. The bulkhead and associated parts are getting hard to find, the bulkhead comes with the very hard to find door mirror hinges.

Sellers Comments Very rare 1961 Land Rover,used by the Australian army,registered here in 1995.It's had 2 new doors and tailgate,very solid underneath and a full mot.A very usable old Landy that will sit at 55-60 mph all day.

Land Rover Series 2A 1961

Land Rover Series 2A Registered 13th Oct 1961 so is now classed as a historic vehicle. One owner from new! Considering this Land Rover is 55 years old it is still in a very good condition. Starts on the button and is still driving well. The chassis has been vigorously cleaned and checked. The rear of the chassis had been welded before years ago and didn't look too good, so it has been taken to a welder and he cut out the old repair and welded in a new improved section. This will be an ideal running restoration for an enthusiast. Someone with the time i don't have. This Land Rover is up for sale and I'd like to hear your offers. Remember this vehicle is 55 years old and still in great condition. With a bit of time spent on it I am sure it will be worth a lot of money.

This is a working Series II with bags of character and a full MOT. It was MOT tested last Wednesday 25th March 2015. Insurance is usually less than £100.

It is in regular use so a good runner but needs some TLC. It will need a new chassis at some stage and it really needs a new canvass tilt as the existing one is full of holes. I have owned it for about 5 years and I have used it a lot during the summer.

I have changed the brakes and the doors and it has been hand painted.

The engine is the Perkins conversion to a 2.0 litre diesel. I have never been able to engage low range so I presume this needs looking at.

It is a 1961 so please don't buy it if you don't know what you are expecting. It has no seat belts and the seats are a mix and match of bits that I have picked up.

It runs like a typical series - very loud and no cabin insulation. It has a full stainless exhaust system.

I have a few spares that I will throw in plus a couple of manuals. I have lots of receipts too.

This is a great basis to start a genuine rebuild on.

1961 LAND ROVER SERIES 2A 2.25 DIESEL BLUE RESTORED GALVANISED CHASSIS BULKHEAD

Hi here we have a 1961 Land Rover 2a that has undergone a substantial rebuild. The Land Rover is a very early 2a with a chassis number 27100187A means its number 187 off the line of the 2a's.  It is highly original with alot of original features. Only 3 owners from new. Unfortunately there are no engine or gearbox numbers due to both units at some point undergoing a factory overhaul and brass rebuild plates fitted. The engine is the early type with clamp down injectors and bilchrome block. The engine has had a full service, front and rear crank seals replaced. The sump had to be removed to replace the rear crank seal and was de sludged at the same time. has a new ap clutch. The engine runs nicely its abit slow to start and smokes as all these older 2.25 diesels do. The gearbox has had the release bearing replaced, output shafts seals and handbrake shoes replaced. The axles have had new wheel bearings all round. The brake system has had a full overhaul with new mintex shoes all round with lucas wheel cylinders and brand new drums all round.  Full copper lines throughout and new master cylinder. The front axle has had omplete new swivels, kingpins bearing etc. I have also replaced the ujs on the front axle halfshafts. New propshafts front and rear. Brand new standard leaf springs all around with monroe gas shocks. The steering has been fully overhauled, the steering box complete overhaul, new steering relay and all new steering joints. 

I have fitted a full new autosparks wiring loom with new wiring throughout. new battery. The lucas wiper motors have had a full overhaul and work perfectly and i have fitted correct type chrome wiper arm and blades. working heater. Brand new dynamo and regulator and also brand new starter motor. Brand new halogen headlamps, all new light units all round and tex magna overhauled and new wires soldered in.

All the body panels have been blasted back to bare metal. All the aluminium panels were then etch primed then 3 coats of high build primer, flattened back then 4 coats of 2k (2 pack) marine blue paint which has an excellent finish. The bulkhead has had new footwells, then shot blasted and sent for galvanising along with the radiator panel. All the capping have been shotblasted and galvanized. Then the body was rebuilt onto a brand new richards chassis. The chassis has been painted in chassis black. It has been mordaunt t washed, etch primed then several coats of top coat to give it a very tough, durable finish. brand new fuel tank. The chassis to bulkhead brackets and steering box mount have also been galvanised.  There is brand new door tops and bottoms both sides. The door hinges have had new pins all round and have no play. New seals all round. I have fitted defender door seals all round as i find them better than the standard series type and there are no gaps at all now, The windscreen frame has been re galvanised and brand new toughened glass fitted. The interior has been finished off with brand new exmoor trim elephant hide seats. The hood and sticks is also new exmoor trim and is excellent quality. Twin bench seats in the rear.  

There have been many thousands of pounds and many many hours spent on this Land Rover. Also many other new parts have been fitted but far too many to list here All parts used are of the highest quality and no inferior parts used . Viewing is recommended as the pictures dont do the land rover justice. All attempts have been made to do this properly and not just thrown together. Where possible no plated nuts and bolts have been used, no metric nuts and bolts and all correct imperial treads. With all the work, the galvanised items, low chassis number and originality make this a very desirable Land Rover which will stay in this great condition for many years to come.
