Since then only light use and the structure of the vehicle is very good. Land Rover Series III / 3 88" SWB - Carawagon

Land Rover Series III.

Slightly un finished project. Not a lot left to do, just engine fettling really and some minor cosmetics to re-fit. I have another project now on the go though and limited space. Still has MOT till Jan/Feb next year and is Tax Exempt. I have the V5 but it will need the engine changing on it to the 2.5di, but this can be done with a letter from a garage.

May also need a paint job at some point if that bothers you as whilst I have had the bulkhead re-painted in the original pastel green, most of the other panels/doors are a mixture of the best I could find condition wise and I liked the patchwork look! Most bits needed coming with it, passenger mirror, internal mirror, sills, exhaust middle support, things like that.

It is a Carawagon International Searle Conversion. Not sure what they would have done to it, but the obvious thing is the missing internal bulkhead between the cab and the front seats. They also appear to be rare.

It has good front seats, overdrive, galvanised chassis, professionally restored engine bulkhead (Have photos of this from the company), up rated LWB front brakes with servo, new brake lines, working 200di Conversion (Including Glencoyne rear flywheel mod, Steve Parker Alternator mod), all doors serviceable and lock off same key. Correct ignition switch for the engine (i.e. glowplug position before firing). Brand new battery moved to under the front seat. LWB clocks added with mileage set to correct mileage (Although now inaccurate for new engine). LWB rims with 7.50 tyres to give better gearing with the diesel engine without affecting the speedo. Towbar and steps, new speedo cable, new front door hinges, just about every bolt replaced with stainless.

Would suggest towing/trailering away as I have not driven it on the road for any great distance since fitting the 200di and there are things like the exhaust that still need sorting for long-term use, as well as the cambelt that I was planning on changing prior to long term use. Before the overhaul and fitting the new engine though I did drive it every weekend and the gearbox and overdrive functioned flawlessly.

To start with this car was Hand Built in England in the 1970s and then sold in HARRODS & HAMLEYS for tens of thousands

With this being the two-seater version it was One of the tops of the range models, they hardly ever come up for sale so this is a rare opportunity to own this stunning little car

-It has Big Tecumseh engine that has a five-speed gearbox with reverse
-Horn, lights and electric start and even radio with speakers
-pull start
-suspension and disc brakes
-All detailed up with logos
-luxury leather seats to finish it all off

it is a double seater making it great for children and adults too
Engine is tucked under the rear boot lid for safety

The car has two pedals for throttle & brake The gearbox has a five-speed automatic gearbox with reverse and is capable of speeds in excess of 30mph. !

the engine needs a service, new battery, lights not currently working and throttle needs setting up, all are which minor problems , expected for its age around 40 years old, But it still runs

Seller Comments - Series 11a, swb, diesel, soft top, lovely landrover, one of the best i have driven, i would drive this vehicle from Cornwall to Scotland,if i had a week!!! its totaly reliable in the time i have owned it, been using it for most of the summer and never let me down, As you can see its handpainted, its ok from 20 foot! but i have tested a little rubbing down on the bonnet and found it could be improved with a little work, but it looks ok to me as is. Just replaced all the drums and brake linings, its had a new rad, new windscreen, various other bits and pieces just to make sure its ok really. I do have the door tops to go with the truck, one is brand new, never fitted, the other original but good, both need painting, and i will give the new owner a tin of paint, i do have a truck cab to go with this truck, so if you didnt want the soft top i could put truck cab on and come to an arangement in your favour, again the truck cab needs a coat of paint,(this is why i hand painted it) . The bulk head is excellent, the chassis has been patched, but nicely done, the soft top has a couple of very small tears, new seats also, this is an old LR, 50 years old, so it has bumps etc front bumper a little bent also, The auction will run its course, no buy it now,

1983 LAND ROVER 88" - 4 CYL GREY

Sellers Comments - I am reluctantly selling my much sought after original untampered with landrover series 3 county station wagon, Initially bought as a project we have used it more for leisure, camping weekends etc. I now have a defender and don't have the time or commitment to work on the series 3 at the moment. The landrover runs really well and as people who know about land rovers will be aware these classics never let you down. The MOT has only just ran out on the 14th July, & it is still running as good as always.
