Sellers Comments

This is rather a long listing 'sorry for that' it's for my historic 1965 Land Rover series 2a. 109" Herbert Lomas bodied Ambulance . VTU 104E was built in 1965 and was kept by the Lomas company as a demonstrator until sold in 1967 when it was registered with the E prefix. It has been documented that this is the last surviving Lomas 2a. Land Rover Ambulance Demonstrator.  VTU 104E has had a well documented restoration and it's recent history can be read about on various web sites. For the restoration and pictures go to Google 'Restoration of Herbert Lomas Ambulance' by Paul Lund, during the restoration the chassis was replaced with a galvanised one, and the cylinder head replaced for a unleaded one. Pictures of this vehicle at shows whilst  in Paul's ownership are on various sites Google 'VTU 104E Lomas Ambulance' click on 'images.' As well as going to shows Paul also had VTU 104E appear in several episodes of the TV. show   'The Royal',  hence the Yorkshire badge on the side. Eventually Paul sold this vehicle and it went to a Land Rover collector in Norway. This part of it's history can be read about on Google 'Norwegian Land Rover collection.' John Craddock and Exmoor Trim brought 31 of the rarest models back to Britain at a cost of more than £40,000. from a collection that numbered nearly 100.
I purchased this vehicle in 2013. It had stood outside in Norway with all the smoked glass in the rear being broken. I have had fitted new laminated dark glass to the rear. Replaced all the wheel cylinders and fitted new brake shoes all round. Cleaned the sand and water out of the petrol tank, replaced the carburetor for an original one, fitted new points / condenser, flushed the engine and radiator before fitting all new hoses plus fan belt, it was then filled with Classic Car Anti Freeze. Plus 101 other jobs. This is a rare and historic vehicle that will give it's new owner a lot of pleasure, I have sourced a period working bell with a very rare period blue light these will be included in the sale as will, a new oil filter, new coil, new fan belt, spare distributor with new points / condenser.  I would strongly recommend a viewing  to make sure that this vehicle meets or exceeds your expectations of a 50 year old Land Rover. Within reason I will try to assist the purchaser with regard to making myself available for viewing and collection, I will en-devour to answer any serious questions about the vehicle as soon as I can. Please make sure this is the vehicle for you before bidding as it is an Auction and Ebay rules apply.
It has just passed it's MOT with no advisories. Free 12 months Tax. Galvanised Chassis. Unleaded Head. Good strong battery. Starts easily with no smoke. Drives like a 50 year old Land Rover should, it goes in a straight line and stop's in a straight line. As stated this is an Auction, and in fairness to other bidders I will not be taking it off the listing before the conclusion of the sale.

Thank you for getting this far. Happy bidding.

I'm selling this land rover on behalf of my father who has no ebay. he has owned it for 10 years, and last few years he has been slowly doing it up and decided to sell due to other projects. it's an old MOD first registered 1981 and certificate build date is 1969 as shown in photos. it was registered as an RAF crash rescue home market?.. on certificate it is a series 2A 109 petrol, but my father thinks the body has been changed when it was in the military.

Over the last few years he has spent a fair bit with brand new rear parabolic leaf springs, 4 new brakes/drums/cylinders. track rod ends/ may need tracking, water hoses, full service ( oil, plugs, cap, leads, etc), hub bearings, lights, light guards and a few other bits and bobs.
He has changed the front seats to more comfortable BMW ones. it has got front freewheeling hubs, he has fitted a LPG system which ran ok, but the tank is now empty, it has rear monro shocks.
its ready for an MOT but needs a few things sorting, needs tracking after changing track rod ends, 1 seat belt needs securing, brakes need bleeding as recently changed front bearings and no time to bleed brakes, could do with another carb as it runs very rich, and one main beam off.
Tinted windows in the back and full of tires if you require them and a few boxes of new and used spares
does not use any oil or water would run all day no over heating problems, bit of a tinging noise in gearbox which he hasnt looked at yet, but drives in all gears.
He does have a steve parker conversion kit and exhaust to fit a ford essex V6 engine which he has but decided to keep.
the chassis is very solid, never been welded, and will last many years, body work is pretty straight for its age, could do with a very good clean or spray job if you're fussy.

will need trailering away, but would drive onto a trailer no problem. Pick up LL56 Area.
He's in no rush to sell, One day its for sale and the next he's keeping it.

Viewing welcome and recommended.

Land Rover Series 2a - Excellent reconditioned state after most recent restoration in 2010 by Land Rover Centre

The original restoration completed by Liversage 4x4 and then Land Rover Centre in Huddersfield in July 2010.

LRC Huddersfield spent £3-£4k bringing it up to the standard you see.

Most recently acquired by our family on 11th August 2013.  It has been securely stored since then in a dry, clean environment only being taken out to be valet end or to the odd classic car show.

The most recent MOT mileage as below:
24/6/2010: 29614
15/7/2011: 32449
17/7/2012: 32823
05/1/2015: 33656

It's a lovely example and a reluctant sale.

It had a Cobra Security System professionally installed on 9/2/2011 (£350). Receipts available.

Keeper details in history since purchase (1960). Purchased from Land Rover Centre for circa £10,000 in July 2010.

Land Rover Defender 110 Station Wagon TD5 For Sale - £6750 - Location North Berwick

Good, straight, regularly and professionally serviced , example of a 110 Station Wagon, low genuine

Sellers Comments -
This is an unmolested low mileage 3 owner TD5 Station Wagon in good condition for the year. The first owner was a leasing firm that leased the vehicle to the MoD where I understand it had an easy life as a road runabout for officers at HQ Army (Scotland). It has a Salisbury rear axle and the engine, drive train and chassis are in very good order. The interior headlining is fine showing no signs of sagging or water ingress and the interior is original, tidy and clean. Low mileage TD5s are in high demand and this is an ideal Landy for the next owner to tailor to meet requirements over time.  In my ownership it has had light road use only and as far as I know that has always been the case.
