LAND ROVER LIGHTWEIGHT series 3 V8 PERMANENT 4X4

Sellers Comments
hi let me tell a little about how the lightweight evolved, it did service with the mod from 1975- 1981 when it was demobbed and went into the civilian market and had different owners for a time it was a standard lightweight until the last owner who purchased it in 1993 he stored the vehicle in a garage unused until 2008 when he dismantled it fully and started to carry out a full non standard rebuild, i purchased it from him last year as an unfinished project the only reason he sold it to me was that he needed to put the money into his new business venture and i could see he was genuinely upset in having to sell his pride and joy after owning it for 21 years and putting huge amount of time and money in to this project ( this guy worked for land rover in some capacity). this vehicle build has been kept close to a series 3 lightweight but with the added power of a v8 and range rover 4 speed gearbox and diffs. like i was saying i have had it for about a year and in this time i have finished it off with again lots of time and money it is now at a point where it needs to be used and enjoyed .it just needs an mot of which i cant see any problems as most of it is new. you may be wondering why i am selling ? and thats simple i am a nut thats likes working on such projects in between my stressful job as a form of escapism and cant wait for the next project. i am away again very soon with my job so its up for sale as simple as that. if it does not reach a fair price it will go back into its garage . . ..... i cant be any fairer than that. it all needs is to be run in and used as its been an on- going rebuild since 2008 to present day. please note that this vehicle will be exempt of road tax as of from 2016 (40 years old) from date of manufacture. i have checked this with dvla. here is a list of just what has been done all bulkhead and chassis work carried out ie any chassis welding & new defender rear cross member fitted( zero rust) please note that the upper vent panel was to far gone and was replaced with blank panel which looks good. v8 engine rebuilt fitted range rover gearbox perminant 4x4 with diff lock overhauled axles with range rover diffs recon steering box (non power steering) new steering joints and swivals new steering relay 4 new road springs all new brake system new clutch new heavy duty battery ( varta ) new ujs upgraded wireing new lights and switches ammo box fitted with ignition switch checker plate floor new bucket seats and belts new altanator new starter motor new mallory ignition distributor and coil new air horns new fuel pump new spal race fan 4 new wheels and tyres & locking nuts new canvas hood made by exmoor trim new fuel tank fitted new fuel lines and filter new battery tray/box fitted and relocated under pas seat 4 new shock absorbers new remote oil filter housing and filter new radiator fan switch works on thermo sender in top radiator hose 2 new front doors top and bottom plus new door locks catches glass and stays new nato hitch fully under sealed paintwork look at the pictures you can see it is unusual, recent paint in a flat low sheen finish ww2 us green with black in a camo design , with the rivets and body edges sanded to appear and give a used in combat look.that is truly a one off , every one that sees it remarks as cool wow i want one just like it. theres lots more
