The Land Rover Defender is an off-road vehicle produced under this name by the British manufacturer, Land Rover, since 1991. However, the vehicle is the direct heir of the first Land Rover that made its debut in 1948. The first prototype was built by the British automaker in 1947 and it was designed for the army. This iconic car was improved over the years and it has been known for generations as a national treasure.
reluctantly selling my Landy series 2a due to not using it regularly. It is one
of the best looking series 2a's you are likely to see. It has a Rover 3.5 V8
petrol engine with an LPG conversion. Mot due April 2015. It is an historic
vehicle therefore free road tax and insurance costs me and my wife under £100
per year fully comp.
has had lots of work carried out over the last two years. It has a lot of
extras and I will try and mention most of them;
front grill and bonnet to house V8 engine
USB adapters on dash
of steel modulars and tyres
stainless exhaust system with two silencers
steering rods/ alignment. This has made the steering pretty much spot on as far
as series 2's go.
away rear spare wheel
kenlowe fans which can be switched from off to manual over ride to
rear spot lights
leather range rover seats
kit fitted but not hooked up under bonnet
battery (3 months ago)
It has a
good solid chassis and runs well. There is no lack of power especially in low.
The high/ low four wheel drive works well. It has a 4 speed gearbox. The only
thing I would say that needs doing is a bit of the wiring tidying up where
the CD is fitted! And some soundproofing would not go a miss!. It is not the quietest
vehicle to ride in ( if you want to talk to your passengers slow down or
shout!) but if your looking at 2As I guess you already know this but some sound
proofing would help!
She is 45
years old (well the chassis, steering wheel and gearbox are original I think!)
and has been modified pretty much out of all recognition, in fact park her next
to a new black swb county and at 100 yards you would not know the difference!
her to use occasionally but I really don’t use her enough and as I am older
than the Landover, a V8 is a bit over the top so when sold I will most probably
by a diesel plodder so might consider px if someone is thinking of changing
diesel into lpg V8?
So if you
want a brute of a landy ready to go viewing welcomed / recommended near Ipswich
in Suffolk and for those who don’t understand bidding is to buy!!! So please
don’t bid unless you have the cash,,,,,,,and UK buyers only unless you contact
me before bidding.

Here for auction a nice old landrover series one,it has been resting for
a few years and is currently not running, but a new coil and a new fuel pump
would cure that,it turns freely on the starter. It is really quite solid,
chassis is sound with no welding required I can spot, footwells are good, rear
tub is sound and the bulkhead only needs tidying up at the usual place below
the windscreen. It has freewheel hubs fitted ,brakes are all free, and previous
owner said it had no mechanical issues prior to being laid up. Panel wise it is
nicely patinated ,If I was to hang on to it,and I wish circumstances were
different I would be tempted to make it safe to drive and leave the look ,that
only time can produce!. It is obviously tax exempt but also mot exempt too as it
is over 50 years old. I welcome any questions by e mail via the ask link but
will not suffer time wasting individuals so genuine enquiries only please.
There is a hardtop with it with some war wounds to it but it would tidy up
easily. Thanks for taking the time to read my spiel and best of luck with your
