The Land Rover Defender is an off-road vehicle produced under this name by the British manufacturer, Land Rover, since 1991. However, the vehicle is the direct heir of the first Land Rover that made its debut in 1948. The first prototype was built by the British automaker in 1947 and it was designed for the army. This iconic car was improved over the years and it has been known for generations as a national treasure.

1996 Land Rover Defender 110 SW TDI 'Special Vehicle'. LWB Expedition Ready 4x4. Much loved vehicle - Engine replaced 6 months ago.
LAND ROVER DEFENDER 110 TDi
This listing is for our beautiful expedition ready Land Rover Defender. She has been our much loved vehicle for many years and no expense has been spared keeping her serviced, maintained and on the road.
It is with great sadness that we have come to sell our pride and joy, but we simply cannot afford not to. Genuine reason for sale, as they say =(
The vehicle was build in 1996 by Land Rover's "Special Vehicle Operations" department, according to the previous owner it was originally built on a government contract for the military, but we are not sure. There is a SVO plate under the bonnet.
There is 186k miles on the clock, although a reconditioned engine and cooling system was fitted 6 months ago at great expense. The work was carried out by a specialist defender restoration workshop following a head gasket failure. A new clutch was fitted at the same time.
It is fitted with:
*Roof-top tent ready Roof Rack (the tent in the photos is not included in the sale)
*Rear ladder,
*Rear light guards,
*Full Chequer plate kit,
*Rear door pad-lock hasp,
*Bull Bar,
*Land Rover alloy wheels,
*General Grabber 2 All Terrain tyres,
*Spare wheel,
*Tow Bar,
*Upgraded front and rear springs and shock absorbers,
*Upgraded steering dampener
*Electronic immobiliser and spare keys
It is fitted with 6 forward facing seats with seat belts (the rear 3 can easily be removed if so desired). Included in the sale are 2 rear bench seats with lap belts, taking the total seating capacity up to 12.
It is painted with black, MOD anti-infrared military vehicle paint.
11 month's MOT - V5 document and partial service history present.
KNOWN PROBLEMS:
*The offside rear door does not open. (Something has dislodged from the lock inside the door panel - I may or may not get round to fixing that before the listing ends).
*The back door doesn’t always lock properly - (I’ve replaced the lock, but it still doesn’t work. They never do - hence the big padlock hasp).

Land Rover Defender 90 (1987) 2.5 N/A, SAS "Dinky" Replica. Military Vehicle.
Land Rover Defender 90 (1987)
2.5 N/A
SAS (“Dinky”) Replica
Ex-military vehicle
Available for immediate sale at £7,250.
Backstory
I have been the keeper of this vehicle for 9 years. I bought it in relative youth and initially intended to use it to tow other vehicles - anybody who knows the 2.5 N/A engine knows that the lack of turbo makes them no good for this purpose. So instead I decided to make this a unique project piece and set about making it an SAS Dinky replica after having been impressed by a similar project at a show.
Engine has a remanufacture plate dated 2000 and usually when this happens the Army puts on a new speedometer. Mileage reads approx. 6,500km, so the engine is young!
This vehicle is quite a rarity, but please bear in mind that obviously this vehicle is a replica built on a standard Land Rover 90 platform. There is still scope for cosmetic improvement and adaptations (i.e. gun mounts, side baskets etc) so suitable for someone who wants to tinker, however countless hours of labour have gone into the replication which is 95% complete.
The vehicle has been stored under cover in garage for last 5 years. Previous to this it was run fairly frequently, enjoying outings a couple of times per month and going to shows.
I do know some information about the vehicles’ military history before I took it over – happy to tell the story I know to interested buyers.
Works Completed
Bulkhead professionally repaired
The vehicle has recently had cam belt change including new tensioner & new FIP pulley
New FIP
New lift pump
New glow plugs (c 1 year ago)
Injectors all recon’d
Under-sealed chassis with wax oil underbody seal
Full recent service
Included in sale (everything in the pictures)
Pipeline surveyers‘ tripod
Replica bar mines
Camo nets
Bergans
Roll-hoop
Sand ladders
Various pouches including equipment (S-10 respirators x 2, NBC suits x 2, binoculars)
Ammo tins x 4
Whip aerial
Genuine British Army 1st Gulf War first aid kit
Towing strop
Copy of workshop manuals, service manuals, parts lists, blown-up schematics & wiring diagrams etc for this type of Land Rover (4 large ring-binders)
The vehicle is road registered and comes with V5 and number-plates.
However, because the vehicle has been in storage for 3 years it is sold without MOT.
[[ At extra cost, I also have a GPMG vehicle mount and ammunition tray which could be sold additionally ]]
Running
The vehicle runs and drives well: I can supply videos via cloud link showing it out and about earlier this week.
It is a little sluggish on hills – some may class it as normal with an N/A engine. Going uphill the vehicle is currently topping out at about 40mph.
On flats power is very good.
Outstanding Works / Improvements
* At this moment in time horn is inoperative, will be looking at this and expect very easy fix
* Fuel pump timed correctly, but may require further work at a diesel specialist to tune FIP, which I believe will improve power by getting maximum performance out of FIP
* Takes a while to start – I suspect this is from fuel returning to tank, and when cranking this brings fuel back up to FIP. Definitely no fuel leaks.
* MOT required
Reason for sale
I am letting this vehicle go in order to free up space and time for my next project, and to pass it onto someone who has more time to run it out and enjoy it. There will also be other vehicles coming up for sale in the next few months for the same reason.
Inspection
Any inspection is welcome. Viewers will find the vehicle totally solid, including the bulkhead. Vehicle is stored on a farm with access to private roads, so test drive can be arranged despite lack of MOT. Location OL10 2. I can answer any questions and will be totally upfront about all aspects of the vehicle, good and bad. This will be an honest sale of vehicle sold as seen. Cash on collection preferred.
Please note this vehicle is advertised elsewhere, and I reserve the right to withdraw it at any time. If you’re interested or have any questions, please get in touch.
f2004 Land Rover Defender TD5
2004 Land Rover Defender TD5 As seemingly everyone with an Instagram account continues to modify Defenders to chase the dream, it’s refreshing to see a Defender upgraded properly and coherently. This 2004 Land Rover Defender 90 TD5 is a perfect mix of show and go, with considered upgrades coming together to create an absolutely awesome yet usable Defender. Professionally resprayed in original Land Rover colour Aintree Green Metallic, the car has been lifted 2 inches with uprated springs paired with ‘Spectre’-esque 16-inch beadlock rims and 35-inch tyres. Complimented with tinted windows and full de-chrome, the paintwork is in superb condition. The car has also been fully Waxoyl’d underneath and is rust free. As handsome as the outside is, the interior is perhaps the real showstopper. A full tan leather interior by Lucari Solutions, featuring diamond stitch bucket seats and leather door cards, has been fitted as well as a forward facing rear seat conversion for the benefit of passengers. A Startech quick release steering wheel finishes the interior perfectly. Having covered 61,816 miles, the car maintains its factory TD5 engine and boasts a full service history. A tastefully modified, properly built Defender finished in green - in our view, it doesn’t get much better. The private registration number is to be retained by the current owner. |
