Land Rover Series 2a (1966 ex-military) - with Fairey Overdrive

This listing for a LAND ROVER SERIES 2A (1966) Ex-Military vehicle - fondly called Betsy for 49 years.

8 months Tax and MOT - 2.25 petrol.

Military Number Plate - 73 ER 95 - push button start.

A large folder is including in the sale, which contains huge amounts of information about the vehicle - photos, letters from previous owners and a "Museum of Army Transport" letter containing the military history of the vehicle.

Built in 1966, and released by the Army in 1974, this is a very good example of the series landrover.

We bought this beautiful Landy in 2011, for my 17 year old son to help rebuild and learn to drive in. She was completely stripped down to  her chasis (see photos), with many new parts bought and fitted to her - full list of receipts included in the folder. New outriggers, rear cross member, fuel tank, breaks, prop shafts, tyres and completely sanded down to the Aluminium and full respray completed (traditional bronze green) - the complete works.

She was substantially rebuilt, rewired and passed her MOT with not a single advisory. My son is a qualified Engineer and he completed the welding and rewiring himself, which was all checked over for MOT etc, and working perfectly - very neat job, feel free to inspect.

Fully synchromesh gearbox in her, with perfectly working four wheel drive and low range - free wheeling hubs - all work perfectly. She also boasts a very smooth, not whiney at all Fairey Overdrive - engages and runs beautifully - brilliant piece of extra kit - WILL NOT SELL SEPARATELY - she is an amazing vehicle, and we want her to go to her new home in one piece, and be loved!

MOT until 26th November - one advisory "axle swivel joint has slight play". Needless to say she is tax exempt - we wont sell number plate separately either - love her too dearly!

The keen eyed viewer will note she has defender top hinges fitted to her and wing mirrors - this was required for sons  driving test - the lovely original series 2a hinges and small circular wing mirrors are safely stored in the cupboard and will be included.

We have MOT certificates dating back to 1996 in the folder, with notes and letters dating back before then - her history really is brilliant!

Based in Weymouth, Dorset. Viewing welcome and ask as many questions as you like - we love talking about her and want the buyer to be as fully informed as possible.

Happy bidding,
