Land Rover series 2A, galvanised chassis, fairey overdrive, winch, motd.

Sellers Comments - Ok.....quite a rare old Series 2 for sale here. Having just had a good look through the large history file this SWB Land Rover was originally supplied to the CIVIL AVIATION RADAR STATION at LUDLOW. The build date was 16/12/1970, it left factory on 12/12/1970 and was registered on 18/01/1971.
It's original colours would have been gold/yellow and black. I bet it looked very nice, be nice if whoever wins takes it back to its original colours.

It's got a galvanised chassis...so obviously no rot or rust.
It's got FAIREY OVERDRIVE...working well.
It's had a professional LPG conversion. Still got its original two-and-a-quarter petrol engine and petrol tank, so if you wanted to run back on petrol it's all there for you to do so.
SUPERWINCH front hubs.
CAPSTAN winch fitted on front. (It has FWL stamped on it...I will check into this).

Safari top.
Recent new door tops fitted.
Rear windows have been fitted with new inner runners so they do slide and open.
Bulkhead is in good condition as you can see, with only minor rust at the sides of the bulkhead. All clean on front of bulkhead below window.
Tow bar and electrics.
Roof rack fitted.
Original dials in original centre console. Extra switches as shown. Internal lights, one white courtesy light and one red light under passenger dash????
Rear amber warning light fitted up high on rear.
REALLY NICE STRAIGHT BODYWORK as clearly shown.

SUPERB history file. Every mot going back to 1990 until present day. Expiry 29th March 2016. Mileage is shown as 56,350 so this must have gone round once. Advisories on mot are....front number plate slightly delaminated but not likely to be misread (bit of a daft one), offside front brake hose slightly deteriorated, and nearside front and nearside rear tyres perished. That's it. Now on the rear it looks like its had 2 new Goodyear Wrangler 7.50 R16s fitted since this test.

It clearly has had a fastidious owner in its life. All documented bills and receipts in the history file from 1990 until 2005 have been kept and calculated and the total expenditure was £16,000.
Full and complete booklet on the LPG system installed. It's the IWEMA TYPHOON SYSTEM.

This Landie has ALWAYS been used, year in year out. Not some old thing parked up outside for years without turning a key!!!

The only negatives are the paint obviously. Very flat, older paint showing through the cream colour. It is crying out to be reprinted in its C.I.A colours.....but again all, panels are nice and straight.
Inner door bottoms both sides have rusted, but easily replaced I would say.

Oh....nearly forgot. At some point someone somewhere has fitted a nice brass plaque to the rear stating the last words of ERNEST SHACKLETON aboard the QUEST in 1922, "what do you want me to give up now". Be nice to find out more on this.

So a good honest description. I have the old style blue v5 and the green section of the new v5 only. The new owner can complete this and send to DVLA at no cost.

Kindest regards.
