LAND ROVER 88 SERIES ONE EARLY DIESEL GREEN

Sellers Comments - This is the sale of my much loved series one, I bought it about 5 years ago .We live in deepest Devon surrounded by steep hills that call for a 4x4 on occasions but due to this vehicles rarity and collectability I am finding it increasingly emotionally uncomfortable using her for the reason I bought her. This is one of the first few hundred diesels to be produced in 1957 and was registered in December of that year. The previous owner bought her in 2002, prior to that it had been restored and still looks good today, the chassis is as good as any Ive seen but the rear cross member is a later replacement as any enthusiast will notice. The bulkhead has had some welding done in the past and it looks like part of the restoration was to replace all the ball joints, bushes, springs etc etc and it still feels as tight as new. The canvas roof was attacked by some aggressive seagulls and unprofessionally repaired (see photo). I did change the gearbox to a series 3 as the gear box it came with was noisey but I still have it and it comes with the sale. I always assumed its a later engine too but I will do some research and update later,it does smoke a bit going up a gradient, may be an injector or the pump timing slightly out but it sounds sweet ant it totally reliable. I intend to Mot her before the end of the auction so the winning bidder can feel confident to drive her home should he/she wish to. Please contact me within 24 hours of auctions end or I will offer it to the under bidder. Auction will run to the end so no offers please.Viewing welcome.Cash on collection. £100 paypal deposit.
