LAND ROVER SERIES 3 LWB CANVAS TILT  EX-ARMY TRUCK

IT IS WITH REGRET THAT I HAVE TO PASS ON THE OWNERSHIP OF MY MUCH LOVED LAND ROVER. 
I HAVE ONLY OWNED THE TRUCK SINCE OCTOBER 2016 (8 MONTHS) BUT IN THAT TIME I HAVE REALLY ENJOYED THE TRUCK AND HAVE TRAVELLED ONLY ABOUT 500 MILES IN IT! 

GREAT POINTS:

EVEN JUST WALKING PAST IT TO MY NEW COMPANY CAR, I HAVE TO GIVE IT AN ADMIRING GLANCE! - ITS AN OLD WARHORSE AND SO FULL OF CHARACTER!

THIS TRUCK HAS ZERO DEPRECIATION AND WILL ONLY GO UP IN VALUE EVERY YEAR! (THEY DON'T MAKE THEM LIKE THIS ANY MORE!)

IT ALREADY HAS CLASSIC CAR STATUS AS FAR AS CAR INSURANCE GOES ( £130 PER YEAR, FULLY COMPREHENSIVE WITH AN AGREED VALUE OF £5000)
WILL QUALIFY AS A HISTORICAL VEHICLE WITH THE DVLA IN A YEAR OR TWO - THIS WILL MEAN FREE ROAD TAX THEN!

SADLY, I RECENTLY HAD TO DO A TOTAL HOUSE CLEARANCE AND WAS SURPRISED HOW MUCH STUFF I CAN GET IN IT, AS ITS SO USEFUL WITH THAT HUGE LOAD AREA!

IT CAN SEAT UP TO 11 PEOPLE, AS THERE ARE 3 SEATS UP FRONT AND A FURTHER 4 BENCH SEATS IN THE REAR THAT SEAT 2 PEOPLE EACH (8 PEOPLE IN THE REAR).

ITS NOT THE FASTEST TRUCK IN THE WORLD, BUT CRUISES AT ABOUT 55 TO 60MPH AND I HAVE SEEN 80 MPH ONCE, BUT I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THOSE KIND OF SPEEDS AS SHE IS AN OLD GIRL NOW!

SHE STARTS FIRST TIME, EVERY SINGLE TIME, EVEN AFTER WEEKS BEING PARKED UP! 

SHE HAD A BRAND NEW MOT IN JANUARY 2017 -SO ABOUT 8 MONTHS LEFT. I SPENT £600 HAVING BRAKES ETC DONE TO PASS THE MOT AND THERE ARE RECEIPTS IN A FILE FOR LOADS MORE MONEY SPENT IN KEEPING THIS LAND ROVER IN GOOD SHAPE.

THE CHASSIS, CROSSMEMBERS, BULKHEAD, DOORS ETC ARE ALL 
VERY SOUND AS IS THE REST OF THE CHASSIS AND FLOORS. 
AS WELL AS THIS, IT HAS A GREAT ENGINE AND RUNNING GEAR. 
AS IT HAS ONLY DONE LESS THAN 61K GENUINE MILES, IT SHOULD HAVE LOADS OF LIFE LEFT IN HER! 
(IT'S ABOUT 40 YEARS OLD AND WILL PROBABLY SEE ANOTHER 40 YEARS OR MORE!!!!)

SHE IS SHOWING AS FIRST REGISTERED IN THE YEAR 2000 BUT I BELIEVE THAT WAS THE YEAR IT WAS RETIRED FROM THE ARMY AS THE LOGBOOK SAYS FIRST MUNUFACTURED AND USED 1980.

THIS TRUCK, BEING AN ARMY WAGON, HAS THE TWIN FUEL TANKS, MOUNTED UNDER THE FRONT SEATS, A BONNET MOUNTED SPARE WHEEL AND HAS TALLER SUSPENSION AND VEHICLE RIDE HEIGHT. 
IT ALSO HAS AN ARMY LIGHT SWITCH THAT YOU CAN SET TO 5 DIFFERENT POSITIONS SO THAT IN CONVOY ETC, YOU CAN SWITCH ON JUST THE FRONT LIGHTS, OR JUST THE REAR LIGHTS, OR ALL LIGHTS ETC, WHICH IS PRETTY COOL.
ANOTHER COOL THING THAT YOU CAN USE ON THE TRUCK, IS THAT YOU CAN TURN THE FUEL TANK SELECTER TO THE EMPTY FUEL TANK (LEFT) AND IF SOMEONE TRIES TO DRIVE YOUR TRUCK AWAY, THEN THE TRUCK WOULD RUN OUT OF FUEL AFTER ABOUT 100 YARDS - I'VE FOUND OUT A FEW TIMES AS I FORGOT I'D TURNED IT OFF!

TYRES ARE PRETTY GOOD AND WHEELS ARE SIMPLY BLACK PAINTED ARMY ISSUE STEEL. 
THE CANVAS TILT IS EASY TO ROLL THE SIDES UP OR REMOVE COMPLETELY. GREAT FUN WITH THE ROOF OFF OR WITH JUST THE SIDES UP OR JUST THE REAR FOLDED UP! THE COLOUR IS BRONZE - GREEN. 
THERE ARE A FEW MARKS AND SMALL DENTS AROUND HER BUT THIS REALLY ADDS TO THE CHARACTER OF IT!
HAS A REAR TOWBAR AND HEAVY DUTY FRONT TOW ROPE.

TRUCK STARTS AND RUNS FIRST TIME, EVERY TIME, EVEN IF YOU LEAVE IT STANDING FOR WEEKS AND IS 100% RELIABLE  AND DRIVES GREAT! IT IS SO STRONG AND IS BUILT LIKE A TANK!

VERY SOLID BODY, CROSSMEMBERS, CHASSIS ETC. SUSPENSION, BRAKES ETC ARE RECENTLY OVERHAULED OR REPLACED.

RUNS REALLY COOL, DOES NOT OVERHEAT AT ALL WATERWISE OR OILWISE. DOESNT USE OIL, OR BLOW SMOKE.

ALL 5 TYRES ARE 7.5 x 16 AND ALL GOOD.
VERY LOW, GENUINE MILEAGE OF UNDER 61000 MILES.

GREAT FUN TO DRIVE FOR YOURSELF AND TAKE UP TO 10 FRIENDS WITH YOU TOO!
THIS VERY CAPABLE TRUCK WOULD PROBABLY GO ANYWHERE, IF YOU WANTED TOO, BUT I HAVE NOT USED IT OFF THE ROAD AT ALL, NOR DID THE OWNER BEFORE ME, AS I KNOW HIM WELL.

LOADS OF CHARACTER AND WILL BE TAX EXEMPT IN 2 YEARS - OR MUCH SOONER, IF YOU APPLY FOR A DATING CERTIFICATE FROM CLASSIC LAND ROVER CLUB AND SUBMIT THE PAPERWORK TO THE DVLA.

NOT SO GREAT POINTS;

ON DECELERATION IN 3RD GEAR ONLY, THE GEAR-LEVER CAN MOVE INTO NEUTRAL ( IT DOES NOT DO THIS WHEN ACCELERATING OR WHEN TRAVELLING AT CONSTANT SPEED) JUST POPS INTO NEUTRAL WHEN DECELLERATING ( YOU CAN KEEP YOUR HAND ON THE GEAR-LEVER TO STOP THIS) ALSO, REVERSE POPS INTO NEUTRAL ON REVERSING UP STEEP GRADIENTS, BUT IS FINE ON THE FLAT (AGAIN, YOU CAN KEEP YOUR HAND ON THE GEAR-LEVER TO STOP THIS)
I AM TOLD IT IS ONLY WEAK GEAR-LEVER SELECTOR SPRINGS CAUSING THIS AND THEY ARE EASY AND VERY CHEAP TO CHANGE. YOU CAN CHANGE THEM WHILST THE GEARBOX IS STILL IN THE TRUCK AND YOU ONLY NEED TO REMOVE THE PLATE AROUND THE GEARLEVER AND PULL OUT THE GEARSTICK TO ACCESS THEM. ( THERE IS A VIDEO OR TWO ON YOU TUBE SHOWING HOW EASY IT IS TO CHANGE THEM ) I'VE JUST HAVE NOT BOTHERED AS I CAN USE THE TRUCK FINE AS IT IS AND I QUITE LIKE IT, AS I FIND IT QUIRKY!!!!

FUEL GUAGE JUST STOPPED WORKING ( HOWEVER, YOU CAN SEE THE FUEL LEVEL IN THE TANK UNDER DRIVERS SEAT VERY EASILY, SO AGAIN, NOT WORTH DOING) 

THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS BLOWING TOO ( NEEDS TAKING OFF AND NEW GASKET FITTED, AGAIN AN EASY JOB TO DO AND IS CHEAP TO DO ALSO - A COUPLE OF QUID ONLY FOR THE GASKET!)

PLEASE DO NOT LET THESE FEW VERY SMALL JOBS PUT YOU OFF BUYING THIS TRUCK AS YOU'LL LOOK FAR AND WIDE TO LOCATE A LAND ROVER OF THIS VINTAGE, IN AS SOLID STATE AS THIS AND DRIVING AS GOOD TOO!

(IF YOU REST YOUR HAND ON THE GEAR-LEVER WHEN SLOWING DOWN IN 3RD GEAR, IT STAYS IN, WHICH IS HOW I DRIVE ANYWAY, SO I DON'T EVEN NOTICE IT!
