The Land Rover Defender is an off-road vehicle produced under this name by the British manufacturer, Land Rover, since 1991. However, the vehicle is the direct heir of the first Land Rover that made its debut in 1948. The first prototype was built by the British automaker in 1947 and it was designed for the army. This iconic car was improved over the years and it has been known for generations as a national treasure.

Land Rover IIB Forward Control Fire Engine (ex : Army Fire Service)
Sellers Comments - A 1973 Ex Army Fire Service Fire Appliance. The chassis is a Landrover IIB Forward Control with a 2.6lt 6cylinder in line petrol engine. It has a 2-speed transfer box with selectable 4-wheel drive & a PTO for the fire pump. The bodywork is by HCB Angus & it has a 350 GPM @ 10bar Godiva Pump. It was used in the Salisbury area & after it’s MOD service it was used during the construction of the Channel Tunnel as a first response appliance & then used by a demolition company for dust control. It was then purchased by myself for restoration. I restored this vehicle around 20 years ago (picture # ebay20 on flickr shows its condition just after restoration) but it has stood outside for the last 10, hence the condition of the bulkhead. Some work was done on the chassis 2 years ago & it may need a few more bits doing. Reluctantly, I have decided to let it go. I would much prefer it to go to someone who will restore it as a Fire Appliance. I have other (non-automotive) projects in hand & simply do not have the time to restore it again, although I will assist with it's restoration in any way I can. Apart from that I'm getting too old to clamber on, around & under it ! There are 8 more photos available on ; www.flickr.com/photos/50249857@N08/? which form part of the description. The Good Bits ; Road Tax is Nil Does not require an MOT The indicated miles covered could well be genuine – I have no reason to believe otherwise It Runs – all gears (inc’ Transfer Box & PTO) engage & don’t jump out Fire Pump OK (see “The Bad Bits) It’s Complete (see below) Lumenition Electronic Ignition Brand New Stromberg Carburetor Brand New Electric Fuel Pump Electric Cooling Fan Stainless Steel Exhaust All the gauges (except the fuel) work New Doortops Tyres hold their pressure Virtually all of the Landrover/chassis parts to restore the vehicle are included The Bad Bits ; Fire Pump needs primer casing to be replaced (replacement provided) Bulkhead needs replacing (good sound donor Bulkhead provided) Sheet Metal Welding required to lower “A” Pillars & above Footwell Fuel gauge does not work You need to understand that this vehicle is heavy to drive – it also weighs close to 4.5 ton with a full tank of water & 4 x Firefighters ! IMPORTANT – the Fire Kit IS NOT included, however, if the final sales price reaches or exceeds £1k I will “throw it in”. Also, there are 2 period uniforms, the MOD mechanical log book, an original Landrover Parts manual, a Godiva Firepump manual, 2 new vinyl badges for the cab sides, an original HCB Angus works drawing & a load of other spares. The vehicle is also advertised elsewhere, so I reserve the right to withdraw the vehicle at any time. The vehicle is privately owner by myself & as such is to be considered a private "sold as seen sale". A £100 non-returnable deposite via PayPal will be required from the sucessful bidder. Ballance to be paid either before or at collection which must be within 7 days of the auction completion (unless arranged otherwise). I would consider some form of part exchange, something more manageable like a series Landrover or a 12’ Box trailer (for my other main project).
