The Land Rover Defender is an off-road vehicle produced under this name by the British manufacturer, Land Rover, since 1991. However, the vehicle is the direct heir of the first Land Rover that made its debut in 1948. The first prototype was built by the British automaker in 1947 and it was designed for the army. This iconic car was improved over the years and it has been known for generations as a national treasure.

Land Rover series 2a 109"
Sellers Comments For sale is a 1971 Land Rover Series 2a 109" pick up. It has been used on a local shoot for the past 4 years, and in that time it hasn't done a great deal of miles. It is being sold as the shoot has just finshed its last season, and is now surplus to requirements. It is MOT'd until feb. 2018 and is tax exempt. It is fitted with a 300tdi engine, coupled up to the original 4 speed gearbox. Everything works fine, high and low range, diff lock, and doesn't jump out of gear or anything like that. Free wheeling hubs are also fitted. All the electrics work, wipers, washers, heater on both speeds, and fuel guage (currently has a full tank of diesel too). Power steering has also been fitted which works very well. The chassis on this is superb, absolutely no rot or signs of rot at all. It could be galvnised given the condition of it, but im unsure as its been painted. The bulkhead is solid, i think the footwells have been replaced at some point in its life. Around the vents there is some rust bubbles under the paint, but appears to still be solid. The canvas is OK, probably could do with replacing depending on your opinion, the odd pin hole has emerged, but it does keep the weather out. This is very straight vehicle for its age and is an ideal work horse, as well as an appreciating classic. The vehicle drives very straight, no play in steering or anything, and stops well too, without pulling to one side under braking. Any questions please dont hesitate to send me a message, Thanks for looking.
