Land Rover Series 2A Pick Up SWB 1966

Sellers Comments -
It is fitted with the Rover 21/4 Diesel engine.
Declared manufactured 1966 it was assigned to the Army and was decommissioned and first registered with its current registration in 1976
Classed as an historic vehicle it is tax free. It’s very cheap to insure through a specialist company.
It’s been my daily local runabout and great fun to drive. Milage is 62700 but will go up slightly as I us the vehicle most days.
I have fitted many new parts during the 6 years that I have owned it these being as follows:
  • Complete exhaust
  • Four general grabber AT2 tyres
  • Four steel wheel rims
  • Door tops
  • Light Lenses
  • Pedal covers
  • Wipers arms and blades
  • Fan Belt
  • Water hoses
  • Parallel diesel injector system
  • Heavy duty battery
  • Alternator
  • Break linings & fluid
  • Drive shaft
  • Fresh air intake rubber seals
It’s an ongoing project as they all are but I don’t have the time anymore so I need to let it go
The canvas has just been waterproofed but there are some splits in the plastic window parts and the window parts are now opaque.
Engine oil, (with Lucas additive), Gearbox and Transfer case oil, (with moly slip), and oil in the axels and hubs, (free wheeling), were changed last year.
At the last MOT my mechanic said it was solid underneath which it passed without any advisories. MOT until December 2017
At high speed the vehicle tends to wander a little which suggests the steering needs adjustment but I will leave that to the new owner. It was obviously checked at MOT and was okay to pass.
Every fall it gets a spray of fine oil/white spirit mix underneath to help keep it sealed and in good order for winter.
Cylinder head was removed, cleaned and a new gasket fitted 3 years ago. During this work it was noted that at some point the diesel pump would need replacing but it has been working fine so I have never bothered.
There is an inherent oil leak which came with the vehicle, sometimes it drips, sometimes it doesn’t, I simply check and top up as required.
All previous MOT’s present
Small file of receipts etc
Extras include:
  • Two sets of keys for both doors and ignition
