Land Rover Defender 110 300 TDi

Sellers Comments -
A much-loved family car, which we have used nearly every day for her 9 years with us – known as Glenda (the Defender), she is now sadly for sale after a change in circumstances means she will just sit on the drive (which is a shame, and frankly, a waste).  She has barely been driven since early October, though I gave her a good blast on the motorway the other day, receiving many envious glances.
I bought her with all receipts and previous MOTs in January 2009, she had just over 81,000 miles on the clock then, and we have added an additional 4,000 miles per year, giving her a current mileage of 116,350.
She was in cracking condition when I bought her, and no expense has been spared in the intervening years making her one of the best 1998 TDis you will see on the road, or can buy.
She is fitted with All Terrain Cooper ST tyres, sump / rock plate, and diff guard and not forgetting her custom stitched and fitted, black and red interior.  Green Oval Garage fitted the new black Boost alloys (16”) and Cooper ST tyres, with spacers on the wheel hubs, so that she still manoeuvres as well as ever, despite the impressive size of the tyres.  About four or five years ago, they also fitted a new, heavy-duty clutch.
An SVX grille kit to the front, gives her a great / modern look.
Only ever lightly off-roaded (a few muddy fields and green lanes, occasional days shooting), she has been serviced and MOT’d for the last nine years by three well-renowned Land Rover specialists:
  • ·         Four Plus Four (Leeds)
  • ·         Green Oval Garage (Leeds)
  • ·         Newnham Street Motors (Harrogate)
I replaced all the outriggers and crossmembers four years ago (there is an advisory for front driver’s side outrigger which will need to be dealt with (welded) at the next MOT – in September) but she is solid underneath and has absolutely no bulkhead rust whatsoever (the chassis has periodically been coated with anti-corrosion treatment).
All the lights (except the headlights) have been replaced with LED lights and bulbs – no more bulb replacement or water ingress issues!
Recently, I have replaced the rear suspension arms and bushes, she has just been fully serviced at Green Oval, all oils replenished, and she runs like a dream.
One of the very first things I did when I purchased her, was take her to Twisted Performance in Thirsk, where they replaced the intercooler, fitted silicon pipes, and blanked off the EGR valve.  She basically runs like a new 300Tdi, amazingly quiet and boots up first time, every time.
Heavy duty battery fitted and regularly trickle charged, so she’s ready to rock and roll whenever you are.
ALL THE PILLAR POSTS ARE IN VERY GOOD SOLID CONDITION.
FOOT WELLS ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION.
BODY PANELS ARE VERY PRESENTABLE & ALL ORIGINAL & THE RIOJA RED METALLIC PAINTWORK IS VERY GOOD.
AS IS TYPICAL OF DEFENDERS & DUE TO AGE (she’s twenty years old) THERE IS A VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF GALVANIC SURFACE BUBBLING (aluminium panel corrosion) THOUGH NOTHING DRAMATIC.
She has had both rear doors replaced with new, and black checkerplate protects the sills and bottom of each door.
THE 4 DOORS & FRAMES ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION HOWEVER THE BACK DOOR DOES HAVE CORROSION ON THE BOTTOM FRAME (still works fine) – I will add a photo of this (basically I trapped something in the door when I was closing it, and it chipped off a corner of paint).
THE DEFENDER DRIVES & RUNS PERFECTLY.  THERE ARE NO RATTLES, SHAKES OR UNDUE NOISES. IT SOUNDS GREAT & PULLS VERY WELL WITH NO SMOKE ON START-UP & NO OIL OR WATER ISSUES.
THE 5-SPEED GEARBOX IS PRECISE & REASSURING WITH NO STRANGE NOISES & THE TRANSFER BOX WORKS SPOT ON.
Seats are still basically in new condition (we rarely have passengers in the back – but there is some wear to the driver’s seat, but I have a pair of new black vinyl original Land Rover seat covers to fit, so that is easily remedied).
RETAINS THE FULL COUNTY CARPETS THROUGHOUT WHICH ARE IN WELL KEPT CONDITION
DOOR CARDS & DASH TOP IN GOOD CONDITION
ROOF LINING IN GOOD CONDITION (very slight sagging) & HAS A L/R FITTED SUNROOF
ALL DOOR LOCKS WORK BECAUSE I REPLACED THEM ALL & THE HEATER IS GOOD (very rare to be able to say this).
4 MATCHING COOPER ST (ALL TERRAIN) TYRES IN EXCELLENT CONDITION (spare is a never used BF Goodrich All Terrain)
FACTORY FITTED L/R REAR & SIDE STEPS
ADJUSTABLE TOW-BRACKET
COMES WITH V5, 2 SETS OF KEYS, ORIGINAL MANUAL ON CD & SOME SERVICE HISTORY
CORRECT MATCHING CHASSIS VIN/ENGINE/V5 NUMBERS

If you can find a nicer, better-presented and better-driving Defender than this, for its age, then you will have done very well indeed.
