The Land Rover Defender is an off-road vehicle produced under this name by the British manufacturer, Land Rover, since 1991. However, the vehicle is the direct heir of the first Land Rover that made its debut in 1948. The first prototype was built by the British automaker in 1947 and it was designed for the army. This iconic car was improved over the years and it has been known for generations as a national treasure.

LANDROVER ARMY MILITARY LIGHTWEIGHT SERIES 3 CLASSIC 1983
Here we have my loved 1983 ex-military SWB soft-top land rover. I'm only selling this because I have a new job and I need to buy a car that I can use to commute on the M4 each day. MOT and TAX until Oct 2015. The canvas is in good condition. The overall condition is good for a 1983 model, although it has the appropriate level of dents and wear and tear. I bought her two years ago after she had been found in a barn and brought back to life by a local garage. There are 40,000 miles on the clock, she is a good starter, no leaks and has had a new carb, back floor and bench seats put in. Lots of minor work carried out by the garage when they restored her and by myself. Well worth a look. Great fun to drive, certain turns a few heads! I have dropped the price as there is a minor engine squeak which developed after the last service. I had this looked at and was informed this was because of a dry push rod. I was quoted £90 to fix it. It would also at some point need a new light switch inside and a new speedo cable. Please contact me with any questions or to arrange a viewing.
