1997 Land Rover Defender 110 300 TDI

Sellers Comments -
Very reluctantly having to sell my 1997' Land Rover Defender 110 300TDI. Sadly due to work I need to change for something more suited for long journeys and I don’t have the time to look after her any more.

The photos showing the roof rack are from a couple of years ago. All the other photos were taken this week.

Very well looked after and maintained. Based near Gatwick. Great example of a Land Rover.

MOT until 28th July 2018.

Includes Land Rover branded seats, Salisbury Axels, 2" lift, Tow bar.

Other extras include a roof rack and 4 extra seats for the rear which are currently not fitted.

Had thousands of pounds of upgrades over the past few years including new clutch, prop shaft ect. I have receipts showing all the work that's been carried out.

LAND ROVER SERIES..MONSTER TRUCK..SERIOUS OFF ROADER...BUILT TO A HIGH STANDARD.

Sellers Comments -
For the SERIOUS LAND ROVER OFF-ROADERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS IS A BIG BEAST.

SOMEONE HAD SPENT A GREAT DEAL OF MONEY ON THIS. BUILT TO A VERY HIGH STANDARD. YOU REALLY MUST VIEW IT IN PERSON TO SEE THE WORK THAT HAS GONE INTO THIS BADMOTHER !!!!!!

Please study the pictures if you can't come and view.
Chassis is in very good condition.
Bulkhead good. Door hinges good.
Whoever built this LEVIATHAN even made the exhaust system so that it came through the existing large hole on the rear cross member. TOUCH OF GENIUS !!

New style V5 present and matches vin plate. Built on a 1966 Series 2A, so free road tax.
I bought this from a fellow farmer who had it stored in his barn for the last couple of years.
I do have mot history with it. YES IT HAS BEEN USED ON ROADS AS WELL AS SOME SERIOUS OFF ROADING !
Last MOT expired October 2014.
I have previous mots from 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010 and 2006. Plus V5 document.

This is where my 500+ positive feedback comes in. You see I have had it running and driving across one of my fields. Clutch, gearbox, brakes all are good. BUT the Discovery engine fitted was very very smokey. I am not a mechanic so have no idea what causes this smoke, I just wanted to see if it would start and drive. It did take a brand new heavy duty tractor battery, not included in sale, and a lot of turning it over before it did fire up and start.

Started it again today to move out of my shed to take pictures and again it did take a helluva lot of turning over before it did fire up and start. Still very smokey, but again clutch and gearbox and brakes all good.

SO JUST TO COVER MYSELF HERE.....IT IS BEING SOLD AS NEEDING WORK TO THE ENGINE.
I DONT KNOW WHAT WORK IT NEEDS .

OK , BACK TO THE BODY OF THIS MONSTER......
It stands at 5 foot tall to the doors and must be 7 foot tall to the top of the windscreen !!!!!
Sitting on superb 265/75 tyres and very clean wheels. These must have cost a small fortune and really are hardly used.

BODYWORK as you can see is VERY STRAIGHT INDEED. Zoom in and see.
Fitted with very strong side steps.
Fitted with large HELLA spot lamps, not wired up.
Fitted with reverse light and fog light, both working.

Fitted with half leather seats, possibly from a Rover coupe?
Fitted with working heater between the 2 seats.
Fitting with cooling fan for radiator, working.
Wiper motor working but no wipers fitted.
Washer pump working but pipes not connected.
Sidelights working. Headlights working only on passenger side.
Air horns fitted and working.

I think it has a MOMO leather rimmed steering wheel fitted.

Comes with 2 good glazed door tops as shown. And light guards as shown.

Land Rover Series 2a station wagon Genuine Ex-Post Office Radio Service.

Sellers Comments -
Here we have my much cherished Ex-Post Office Radio Service Series 2a, which I have owned for the past 17 years.
The colour scheme that she is presented in, along with the text and serial numbers are all correct to her service days at Radio Station Leafield in Oxfordshire. To all appearances she is as she was in service, which includes the PTO-driven, factory installed Mayflower winch on the front bumper.
There are however a few permissible modifications:
  • The road springs are parabolic, giving a better ride and better cornering.
  • The door tops are ex-military, which, personally I prefer to the originals.
  • Heated windows are installed front and rear (but not wired in).
  • An alternator has been installed along with conversion to negative earth.
  • Steering wheel has been changed for a 15" Mountney, so the indicator stalk is from a SIII.
  • Headlights upgraded to high intensity.
  • Driving lights added.
Within the past 12 months considerable money has been spent on keeping her on the road, and prior to the M.O.T.:
  •  An electrical issue was resolved with the replacement of the fuse box.
  • Clutch slave cylinder and associated pipework replaced.
  • Wiper motor replaced with New old stock.
  • Rear cross member replaced.
  • N/S/F out rigger replaced.
  • Front flexi brake hoses replaced.
  • N/S/F brake pipe replaced.
  • O/S/F track rod end dust cover replaced.
  • Fuel lift pump replaced.
  • Starter motor replaced.
  • Coil replaced.
  • Solenoid replaced.
  • Full service, including greasing ball joints and replacing spark plugs and oil filter.
Having discovered that this Landy had an authentic 'Post Office' history, I contacted the Post Office Vehicle Owners Club, to whom I am indebted for the following information:
Your Land Rover was one of a batch of sixty with Post Office serials (fleet numbers) 203304 to 203363, yours being 203356
It became 69 621 3356 in the 1971 renumbering (year type code serial), then becoming 69 367 3356 in 1982 when Land Rovers were given type codes designating model and fuel
It was new in Brilliant Yellow inside and out (ref BS356 in the old BS381C colour range) and galvanised bumpers, with lettering in Light Bronze Green on vinyl patches
Vehicles of this period normally carried POST OFFICE TELEPHONES
                                                                    TELEPHONE MANAGER
                                                                           (location)

however yours was unusual in being new to the External Telecomms Executive at Leafield Radio Station, and would have had a non-standard inscription, possibly
                                                               POST OFFICE RADIO SERVICE
                                                                            RADIO STATION
                                                                                LEAFIELD
or something similar, possibly including the ETE title.
It replaced 17474, SXH 348, an 86" hardtop van which started life as a mail van.
These vans were generally used by cabling parties and towed a trailer winch, accompanied by a larger utility vehicle carrying the tools and towing a cable drum trailer, however yours would have been used for a variety of duties around the radio station
After withdrawal from normal service it was retained at Oxford Telephone Motor Transport Workshop as a garage runabout.
Please note that I understand this to be the last remaining Post Office Radio Service land rover in existence.
So, thank you for looking at my listing, and if nothing else, hope you found it informative.

Land Rover Series 3 88"county station wagon

Sellers Comments -
For sale is my 1982 Land Rover 88" series 3 county station wagon. in russet brown, 2.3 5 bearing diesel engine.
This has gone through a 2 year restoration.
Not like the other adds that claim a
Full restoration. Ground up restoration. Full nut and bolt restoration. Then when you look at them they have done half a job. Three quarters at best.
This is a proper full restoration with no stone left unturned. Every thing that could come apart has been apart and restored. Fixed or renewed using original new old stock parts where possible. All rebuilt on a Richards galvanised chassis.
The engine has been stripped down and had many new parts. The head was sent away and skimmed and had new core plugs fitted. It's had new pistons and rings. Bores re honed.new big end and main bearing shells, Stripped of paint and gunk and re painted in its original colour. It's also been to a Land Rover specialist to have the timing sorting out and now runs as it should.
It's had a full new uk made wiring loom fitted. A full body fixing kit that consisted of 1000's of correct nuts bolts washers and other fixings. The gear box was also stripped and checked over and received a new clutch. New uk made handed parabolic springs. Axels all stripped cleaned and greased. All new seals and gaskets. All the body panels are original apart from new doors. Still retains the original sundim glass. Wheels are the original along with the 7 seats. All new sound deadening and correct hardura matting in the front. All body panels were stripped and sent off for painting inside and out. All the interior county spec trim was sent off and re made and recovered. The roof was also sent away to have the correct roof lining made and fitted by an ex employee of exmoor trim. Has all it's original roof vents. All the galvanised trim has been away and re galvanised. Retains its original colour of russet brown with correct county stripes. 5 brand new tyres.
These are the main points. the land rover has done 32,000 miles, i cant prove this is genuine but the bloke who made the roof lining who worked at exmoor trim said the seats are all original with the original foam and said in his opinion that it had not had a great deal of use looking at the seats and thought the millage could well be correct, but as the engine has been stripped its as good as new so the millage shouldnt matter to much,You will see what else has been done in the list of new parts. Be warned. It's long. and you would never believe there could be so many parts to a land rover, i have all the receipts for the parts bought, so here goes.

I have around £13000 worth of parts in this and over £3000 In having the engine and gearbox stripped and re built. In Total including to cost if the vehicle it currently stands me at around £18.000 but try finding another one like it.

I'm sure any serious buyer will come look at it. But if not I can send as many pictures as you like. This is idea to import as this year is fine for import. This would have to be sorted out by the buyer. I can have it transported anywhere in the country at buyers cost. As for a quote.

Land Rover Series 2A - Galvanised Chassis & Bulkhead & reconditioned Gearbox Galvanised Chassis & Bulkhead & reconditioned Gearbox

Sellers Comments - FOR SALE! LAND ROVER SERIES 2A 1965 - TAX EXEMPT 2.5NA DIESEL Starts runs and drives The Good Bits - -This Landy has already been fitted with a Richards Galvanised Chassis -New Galvanised Front Panel -Repaired and Galvanised Bulkhead -Parabolic springs & shocks -Supplied with New Fuel Tank -Repaired & solid bonnet -Good solid door bottoms -Exmoor trim high back Chairs -Very good original panels. -Range rover rear Diffs This landy was in everyday use until march 2016 when the MOT ran out. At this point it started to kick out of second gear when over running down a very steep hill. At this piont the then owner decided to dry store it until he could get it repaired. I purchased the Landy in febuary. Once i got it home and realised it drove as it should (Less the gearbox) and found it was on a full galvanised Skeleton i too put it into a barn as with the straight panel work, gearbox and lick of paint it would be very special. Unfortunately in the last 6 months i have not even found the time to look at it let alone start to work on it due to an expanding family its time to move house and i have now lost my storage. It still starts on the button and drives as it should but its time to let it go. There is no roof with this landy as the previous owner kept it permanently in the garage and only used it on nice days, I can supply a roof, sides and back door at additional cost but personally like to see these old girls with a rag top. Prior to advertising i put it into a local garage to see if it would go through an M'O'T to help it sell but i have been advised -The swivels leak and have excessive play -Several bulbs not working (typical landy) -Play in the bushes for the rear springs -No wipers (motors were not wired in where the screen had been taken off and put back on. Due to it being stored for a while i think it would benifit from a good service too, but like i said does start and drive. V5 Present and in my name. Based in Gillingham Dorset No offers by text phone call preferred. Can be delivered nationwide subject to cleared funds. cash on collection or by transfer prior to delivery Patrick - 07740 242867 On 26-Jul-17 at 22:09:19 BST, seller added the following information: The reconditioned Gearbox is a series 3 suffix D syncro box brought from Simmonities.
